  2. View full record in results view

    The current behaviour to move from search results to exploring a record is to open a pop up to view the full record.
    This takes the user away from the results set they are working with.
    There is feedback that some users dislike pop ups.
    We have also observed that many users open full records in a new tab in order to have records of interest open in tabs to go explore in detail later whilst continuing to work with the search results.

  3. Switching number of titles per page should not jump to top of page

    Hi

    At the moment, the switch for to more titles per page is only possible at the bottom of a page

    But when I do this, I get moved back to the top of the page. This is bad UX. My position on the page should not change.

  4. Ability to collapse all sections in the get it section by default

    User Story: Many of our librarians use Primo to search for our records. They would prefer to be able to see the barcode information on all items in the get it section. As soon as they open the record. Rather than having to click each one, show the extra information.
    Solution: we are requesting the ability to have all items collapsed by default in a specific view. So that library staff can see the item information, once they open the record.

  5. More options for Collection Discovery images

    Hi

    In Collection Discovery, please allow more options for the images per collection:

    – Allow a separte image for the header banner of the single collection page.

    For the overview page, the picture has to have the dimensions 3:1. The same picture is used for the header of the collection.
    This leads to the pictures looking bad and often the description of the collection is hard to read.
    Please make these 2 separate pictures to be uploaded and make the default header banner a monochrome colour taken from the css.

  7. Default Sortting option for the historic loans

    When opening the historic loans tab , the "Sort by" dropdown default value is empty and the results are not sorted.
    So historic loans details are shown at random.
    Only when the user selects the desired "Sort by" value as "Returned date - newest", the results will sort.

    Please make the default option "Returned date - newest" for the historic loans.
    Then users can immediately check the book with the latest return date.

  8. Add very compact display option, 1 row per title

    Please add a really compact additional display option
    – 1 row per title
    – no icon

    to allow an overview / quick scanning of long result lists.

    When I do a search on my laptop, I see two titles on the result list and the start of a third.


    Default number of results for the compact display should be 100 or more.

    And it should be a setting in the patron account.

  9. Not needed after UI improvements

    With the Alma 2021 March-release there was introduced more logic to the handling of the Not needed after field coming from the requests from Primo.

    This new functionality has made the Not needed after more useful than before and we have activated this in the request forms.

    We do however have two suggestions for improvements:

    1) In the request form there is a calendar icon that indicates that it is a date-field. The user expectation is to click on the icon, but it is not clickable. If the user cliks in the field they get a date-picker. Could the calendar-icon…

  10. Move the Sort by options to top of results

    We would like the Sort by option to be at the top of screen, for consistency with other databases. Users are used to seeing Sorting options at the top of the page. These options are hard to locate within the other filtering options in the panel to the left/right of the Primo results.

  12. Retain search field keywords when switching to Browse Search

    The following is a request from one of our teaching faculty. "When a subject heading search is performed in [the search scope for my institution's holdings] and the patron then wants to browse other variants of the subject heading and clicks on BROWSE in the top bar, the search box is blank. Then the patron has to retype (or if they are experienced and have copied the subject heading) paste it in and perform the search again. It seems like a simple fix to make the search term sticky so it would automatically populate the browse box."

  13. Syndetics Unbound on Brief Results

    Syndetics Unbound enrichment elements can now be displayed on the search results pages of various discovery systems, but not Primo.

    Providing this integration would better showcase Unbound's elements which are very popular with users but are somewhat hidden on the full display page.

  14. Automatically reopen all the closed tabs after Primo timeout when sign in again

    Some of our patrons like to use Primo with many open tabs, each tab can contain one item they are interested in and want to read/check out. The problem is that if they spend longer time than the timeout limit (one hour for our instance), Primo will automatically log out and close all the tabs. And the patron cannot re-claim/re-open closed tabs after sign in again. It has been a recurring complaint and we think extending the timeout limit is not a good solution.   15. Allow A-Z facet to have both title and alternative title

    Use case: Users will look for databases and journals by the name they know, which often doesn't match the official title in the 245 field. We would like the ability to add more than one entry to the atoz facet so that users can find items by both the title and alternative title.

    Example:
    245 Education Database - under E
    246 Proquest Education Database - under P

    This would improve the user experience and findability for our subscription resources.

  17. Differenciate display of GetItOther depending on search scope slot

    We're in a consortium, with the search scope slots
    - IZ
    - NZ + CDI

    In both search scope slots we want to display the call numbers of all consortium libraries in the full title display.

    It is possible to collapse the call numbers from outside our IZ:

  18. Browse shelf only to display electronic material

    Nowadays, browse Shelf Configuration dialog box, can be configurated with one of the following options:
    - Browse Bibliographic Headings – if you want to display both physical and electronic material in Browse Shelf.
    - Browse Shelf Listing – if you want to display physical items only in Browse Shelf. This is the default option.

    I ask for a new option to display only electronic material, this is useful for those libraries that not use a standard classification system being that the physical browse shelf is a disaster.

  19. Chinese records should be ordered by pinyin

    For the mainland China customers, it would be great that the Chinese records are ordered by pinyin when choose sort by "Title" or "Author" for result list.

  20. Provide Toggle Checkbox When Including Results with No Full-Text

    Please provide a toggle checkbox when the setting is configured to include results with no full-text. We would like to present all results by default and then let a person remove unwanted results (i.e., results with no full text).

    The current setup is the reverse and is contrary to the idea of filtering. People use filters to narrow their search results, not expand them.

    Also, I know there is a Full-Text Online facet, but this only appears after you select a resource type facet. Therefore, this method is not convenient to achieve the same thing.
