  1. Ability to set the primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/ url to redirect to default view.

Currently the / url either errors out or redirects to alma. Since many users just go to the root url it would be great to have this redirect to the default view

  2. MOBILE

The Inter-library Loan option is visible, but greyed out, if the user is not signed in to the Primo new UI, however, on mobile devices, it is not visible at all, i.e. not greyed out.
We think the interface should be identical no matter what device is used.

  3. marcit loads of e-journals should have a peer-reviewed/open-access subfield

Since there is no sfx ideas exchange, I will post this idea here since there is no trigger/flag for open access or peer-reviewed as part of the MARCIt profile. This would be helpful for journal loads. Seems to me that if you're sitting on the article data, you might be able to flag the journal record within the marcit profile, no?

    Thanks,
    Allen

  4. Show "multiple sources" in PCI records, instead of hiding the field

When more sources provide PCI with the description for the same bibliographic entity, in Primo Details tab no source is specified.
If the library doesn't have access to all the involved sources, the field is missing and no "View all versions" link is available.
A compromise could be to always show Source: multiple sources or something like that, instead of totally suppressing the field.

  5. Add more citation styles to Primo VE

I propose to add JEL (Journal of Economic Literature) citation style to support researchers in Finance and Economics.

  6. Sorting in My Bookshelf

Currently My Bookshelf doesn't offer any functionality to allow you to order items.

It would be useful to be able to order items e.g. by Title, Author, Added, Type etc.

  7. Why is ExL using a large X as a navigation tool in the new UI?

When I first came across this X, I thought it was a coding fault. It does not seem (to me) intuitive that you should click on it to return to the previous screen. A small x on the top RH corner of the open window would make more sense.

  9. Virtually browse by category of locations

We would like to have the function to allow patron virtually browsing category of locations, so that patron can realize which location they are browsing. We have some special shelf which is out of side the library of congress call number arrangement.

  10. Ability to restrict number of characters displayed in Description field

In the Detailed Results, it would be good to have the ability to configure the Description field so that it displays only a certain number of characters by default, while also allowing users to expand the field to get the full description (similar to the way the Summary field in Syndetics Unbound works).

  11. Primo New UI - EBSCO API - filter out no-full-text Item

We have set up a mixed search results of Primo PCI and EBSCO API. In the Primo new UI, The search results are supposed to show only full-text available materials. But we found some result items of EBCSO API are without full-text. We would like to the results items without full-text from EBSCO API be removed in the new UI in a full-text search while the no-full-text item be shown after clicked "Expand beyond library collections" . See the attachment "PCI&EBSCIAPIMixingProblem.docx" for details

  12. Reinstate timeout url in Primo New UI

We would like Primo to timeout to our Library home page instead of the Primo homepage. This was possible in the Classic UI but is not available in the new UI. Please make the Timeout URL option work in the new UI

  13. Opening results in a new tab - stop it defaulting to the top of the list

In the new Library Search, every time I open a search result in a new tab, the list of results resets to the top of the list. This is very annoying, especially if i have already had to load 3 or more pages of results.

  14. Citation generator is inaccurate

The citation in the existing and new UI for books is not valid MLA or APA.

The PNX information that populates the citations is stored in a hidden mapping table that cannot be edited. For example, I can see that series information for a book comes from addata/seriestitle. Primo will use the entirety of the field in the citation. For this particular record, this is the content of that section:

    Rowling, J. K. Harry Potter Ser. ; 2.

Likewise, book titles come from addata/btitle. For this record, this is the entirety of the section:

Harry Potter and the Chamber of…

  15. Track the date of when a record is deleted

If primo is given a record to be deleted, it is removed from the source record table. This means that there is no indication that Primo ever had the record. Continuing to track the record id would allow the search PNX tool to tell the user when the record was deleted. This would be useful in tracking down problems of missing records that are expected to be in Primo.

  16. Context sensitive help

have a default context sensitive help file(s) in the new UI that can be adapted locally, with local edits being highlighted for change, but not over written when Primo is upgraded and the help text amended centrally.

  17. Add "(full text resources only)" and "(full text and non-full text resources)" suffixes to list of results in Primo Central

We think it would be helpful if the wording directly above the list of Primo Central search results could be changed. For example, for a search for "fish" it would be great if it could say something like:

    Results 1 - 10 of 897,789 for Primo Central (full-text resources only)

when the checkbox is unticked and:

    Results 1 - 10 of 1,194,353 for Primo Central (full-text and non full-text resources)

    when it is ticked.

This would prove a useful insurance in particular for users of mobiles/devices. Indeed, embracing of Responsive Web Design at an increasing number of institutions is likely…

most of the ***** sites look quite dull, mostly OOTB look with few enhancements. How about running a competition "The best Primo UI design"?

  19. Add link "Back to results list" on the e-Shelf

This is the use-case I want to improve:
A user is constructing complex queries and collecting some records.
From time to time she wants to check the e-Shelf and then continue skimming trough the results list.

¡There is no simple navigation path from the e-Shelf back to the results list!

    There are 2 less-than-ideal solutions:

1/ repeating the query from tab "This session's queries" (flaws: it is cumbersome to find the corresponding query and too much clicks are necessary)
2/ the back button of the browser (flaws: the yellow e-Shelf star icons are not up to date and too much…

  20. Primo - "related titles sorted alphabetically by title" also for Primo direct / classic not VE

In Primo VE one can have related titles sorted alphabetically by title
This is particularly useful for multipart, journals, and in general complex record structure. Unfortunately, this is possible only in Primo VE, but not in classic Primo.
It would be useful if the 2 versions of Primo were aligned also regarding this very useful feature.
