    You have left! (?) (thinking…)
How important is this to you?

Definitely! When starting a new, shared project (e.g. co-authoring an article), the situation is usually that I have a large part of the references in my personal (Untitled) project. It should be possible simply to check one or more references, and then choose to copy them into one of the shared projects I am part of.
Or, of course, vice versa, when my co-author shares an interesting reference that I'd like to include in my personal project.

Since references are not physically in a folder, I don't quite see the idea. Often, you may want to associate a reference with several folders and in those cases, it's practical to choose the reference(s), then the folder(s) and then click Assign.

Warmly supported! This feature existed in the old RefWorks and saved a lot of time.
