  1. Limit in house use entry through Scan in Items

Alma records In House use via "Scan in Items" module and whenever item that is not on loan checked in. I would like to see a setting that will allow "In House use" to be registered only by Scan in Items. There are numerous occasions where staff may check in items but it is necessarily "in house use" by patrons.

  2. Configuring External Library names for display in Primo

In Alma it is already possible to enter external location names for display in Primo.
We request this option for library names, too. Currently, the configured library name is exposed to the user in the Primo Getit tab as well as to the staff in several places in the Alma user interface, f.ex. the „currently at“ pickup list and the persistent menu. We request the possibility to configure an internal name for display in Alma (for example in abreviated form) and and external name for display in the Primo Get it tab.

  3. Activate recalls by user group

Allow libraries to modify recall rules based on each user group.

Currently recalls can be turned on or all for all user groups only. It would be beneficial for many libraries, especially academic, to be able to modify recall rules by user group. As an academic institution, we would like the ability to allow certain patron groups to recall books, but block recalls by our visitor and community patrons, or patrons at other institutions. This would help prevent situations where a student working on a project or thesis from having their books recalled by a visitor patron who would like…

  4. Automatically populate date and end time in booking request form

When placing a booking in Alma or Primo you need to choose a starting date then a starting hour followed by a starting minute. You then need to choose an end date then an ending hour and an ending minute. This is a lot of clicks to place one booking.

It would be nice if the end date, hour and time could be automatically populated based on the Terms of use of the item (so if the loan period is 2 hours and the start time is 2:30 then the end time could be automatically populated to say 4:30). If…

  5. Adding new labels to a letter in Alma

    In Alma/Administration/General Configuration/Configuration Menu/General Configuration/Letter emails
I want to add new labels with translation field.

For example the OrderListLetter.xsl has the following codes:

department; billingaddress; date; issnisbn; sincerely; addressFrom; Cc; Bcc; note; letterName; orderdate; subject; polinenumber; price; quantity; shippingaddress; shippingmethod; title; vendoraccount; placeorderintroduction

    In Alma/Administration/General Configuration/Configuration Menu/General Configuration/Customize Letters

We want to add a new header cells, for example:
    <th>@@publication_place@@</th>

Is there possible to add new codes in “Alma/Administration/General Configuration/Configuration Menu/General Configuration/Letter emails”?

  6. Allow staff level renewing of items marked as "lost", or the ability to bulk process from "lost" to "found".

I'd like the ability to either allow staff to renew items listed as "lost" or at least be able to bulk process items marked as "lost" to "found" so we can then renew them.

  7. Include variables in subject line in letter emails costumization

In Alma you can costumize emails and letters message body via XSL including the related data from xml, but not in the subject area, where you can write only fixed text. We need the possibility to add changing information in subject area, for example add the id of requests in the subject of the Resource sharing emails. It would be possible to configure the subject field to accept variables/placeholder containing the data in xml emails?

  8. 'Not Needed After' date should be mandatory on patron physical request form.

It would be helpful if the 'Not Needed After' date is mandatory on the patron physical request form to improve the requesting process for Patrons when there is a high demand for physical items.

    Hi,

An approach we’ll be looking at is that an optional ‘Last Interest Period’ request policy will, if set, be used to set a default the last interest date (Primo and Alma). This way every request will have a last interest date set by the policy and overridable by the patron.

  9. Fine&fees and blocks

Currently, a user who has exceeded the limit of cash in his active balance, is blocked. That's ok.
However, if a user has a lot of overdue loans (and fine&fees), and exceeded the limit of fines & fees but not in his active balance (loans are active), Alma won't block the user.
So, until user returns documents or renew there, he can check-out new books.

Is it possible to add an option in the Alma BO to block a user who has exceeded the limit of fine/fees all fine/fees included and not only those which are "closed" and added in…

  10. Display patron account expiration date on manage patron services screen

It would be helpful to display the patron's expiration date on the manage patron services screen so that an operator does not need to navigate to the patron record and the "general information" tab just to see the patron's expiration date.

  11. Preventing Change of Due Date (Recall) when placing Physical Item Request

When placing a physical item request for an item that is checked out, we typically want to recall the item, but there are sometimes exceptions to this. For these exceptions, we would like to have the option, while placing the request, to prevent the recall and simply add the requester to the queue without changing the due date.

  12. Change permission authorization set without leaving current record

For example, a student worker is working with a patron. However, the patron record requires action that the student worker is not authorized to do. The student worker calls over a supervisor. Is there a way to keep the patron's record open but change the permission set from the student worker to the supervisor so that necessary actions can be taken? Or does the student have to log out completely and then the supervisor log in and search anew for the problematic patron record?

  13. Fulfillment: Physical item recall: option to recall more than one copy

Currently in Alma when a request is placed on a title where there are 10 copies all out on loan, and none available, a single real-time recall notification is sent to the patron who has the oldest loan, changing their loan status to 'recalled'. The 9 other patrons who have a copy are not made aware of the potential demand for the item at that time.

For the case where there are many copies of a title, the patron requesting the title could be better served if we were to recall more than one item. For example, we might say:…

  14. Add "Request" as a block option in Block Preferences

Currently the Block Preferences have Block options to permit Blocks on Loan and Renewals, but it would be good to include Blocks on Requests on these blocks - specifically Patron Physical Item Requests, but conceivably other requests.

For example is a Patron Limit is defined on Overdues or Recalled overdues, and the limits are exceeded, the relevant Block Preferences are triggered,
    i.e.
    Patron overdue limits has exceeded
    Patron overdue recall limit exceeded

However, the only options on what patron services blocked are Loan and Renewal.
Requests should also be added to the options so that overdues can immediately block a…

  15. Reminder when opening hours are expiring

When you add standard opening hourse into the Library / Institution calendar it defaults to setting the expiry for the hours 3 years ahead. This is good but it would be useful to get a reminder to move them on when it's getting close to the expiry date.

  16. Allow a differentiation of library addresses

Although we can define a library e-mail address for Billing, Claim response, Patron communications, Primary, Shipping, the preferred address is systematically used for all library specific communications.

This is problematic, as the service responsible for claim responses and orders is different from the service handling patron communications. Therefore, their e-mail addresses are different. Some libraries are too big for just providing a generic e-mail address for the whole library, as a person would then have to dispatch continuously the incoming e-mails.

So ideally, the e-mail specification possibility in Alma should actually help make this distinction.

  17. Add series titles to Alma letters

Some items are more easily identified by there series titles than by the title of the actual volume. But the series title is not exported in the xml of the letters.
(Series title is in the 8xx $$t fields of the bib record).
This would help to send more meaningful letters to our patrons.

This is about allowing Course Reserves course and reading lists to be able to be managed in sets and deleted in bulk.

We would like the ability to manage course reserves reading lists and courses in bulk. Currently, it appears that we can only delete them one at a time and have thousands of old outdated ones. This could either be done in the Mange Fulfillment Sets or just Manage Sets and then we would want a way to delete them too with a job.

  19. sound alert for pop-up windows

A sound alert to accompany a pop-up window would be very helpful. We find that our student workers often fail to see important pop-up notes when they are checking out or returning materials. A distinct sound would help immeasurably!

  20. Maintain patron information with missing items

When a patron places a request for an in place item, but the item is not located, we toggle the missing status for the item. This disconnects it from the patron record. It needs to remain attached so when the item is located it can still be held for the patron.
