  1. Automated emailing of registered DOIs to ETD authors

Add a scheduled job that automatically emails ETD authors the DOI registered in Esploro for their thesis/dissertation using the email address imported from ETD Admin. Otherwise the DOI is created for the work, but the authors don't even know the DOI exists.

  2. Add Activities to Projects

It is possible to add outputs/publications to projects, which is a great feature. However, it would be very beneficial to also be able to add activities, especially as it is a natural part of a project.

  3. Make collections searchable

Collections is a feature where the institution can display selected assets together. The assets are displayed as a list you can scroll through. To make the collections more user friendly it would be nice to make a search function for collection/to make assets searchable in the collection searchable. If there are many assets in a collection it would be optimal for the user to be able to search for a specific asset or keyword in the collection.

  4. Expose Researcher Engagement types via API and Analytics

We wanted to start developing a Find a Supervisor page on our web site using the researcher API.
We have entered Principal Supervisor, Co-supervisor etc as engagement types in the backend. However there is no way to query this via the API or Analytics. Also to search the field you need to search the code not the description e.g. Engagement3 not Principal Supervisor.

We would like to use the API to have a find a research supervisor page that will query the profiles for researcher interests and return only those reseachers that are approved as research supervisors. The search is…

  5. Esploro - Add action for assigning a name variant to job Update Set of Research Assets

Sometimes we need to bulk update the name displayed in the Discovery Portal for a Researcher. To do so we create a new name variant but we would also like to bulk update all assets related to this specific Researcher with the new "Name Variant".

To do so an action "Choose Name Variant" could be added to existing Job: Update Set of Research Assets / Task Creator or Contributor

Such a feature would also be very useful to refine the data after an import via file or an harvesting.

  6. Map programs & research units to ETD types

Now that undergraduate students can self-deposit in Esploro, it is essential that the process be as straightforward as possible. Currently the programs and research units that they must select from are all possibilities. We would like a way to identify the relevant programs and research units so they are given a subset of relevant options. Without having an appropriate subset it will be much more challenging for everyone, and we are sure we will get a lot of incorrect information in the form.

  7. Add ability to keep assets in sets in a specific order

It would be great to have the ability to keep the assets within a set in a specific order. Now that we can use Analytics reports to create sets in Esploro, we would like to use top 10 lists we have created specifically for our institution to create sets of “top 10” assets, and add them to the Top 10 lists area on our homepage. You can currently do all of those things, but the set will not not stay in top 10 order. So the list that displays on the home page is not in top 10 order.

  8. Add media availability to researcher profile

In partnership with our campus's communications office, we would like to be able to use the Researcher Profiles to easily identify faculty who are willing to speak to media on topics relating to their areas of expertise. This could be a simple "Media Availability" field: yes/no.

  9. Batch edit creators and contributors

When library staff are mediating a deposit, it would be good to be able to edit creator or contributor information in a batch using check boxes next to each creator/contributor and options at the top of the creator section - add/edit role, add/edit affiliation and delete creators/contributors. This would save considerable time as the librarian wouldn't be required to edit each name individually.

  10. Expertise Finder

Esploro is capable of being an Expert Finder but limited to subject matter expertise gleaned from your Research Topics. What about an entire area for Expertise in the profile? The idea would be to list things you consider yourself an expert in (using the same taxomonies already available or free text) and offer toggles for :
    -willing to be contacted about
    -willing to mentor
-willing to assist in an emergency
-willing to serve on a committee
    etc..

Then the expertise is explicitly searchable and also indicative of people willing to apply that expertise in those scenarios. Then we would not…

  11. Add way to facet research deposit by assigned to person

As staff members are learning how to add deposits to Esploro, I review the work. Now that we have several people adding items, it would be helpful to be able to filter to one specific person to aid in training/reviewing their work

  12. More granular history tab in asset mediated form

It would be good to have more granular information in the History tab of the asset form. At the moment it only records when a deposit was created or approved. Adding when fields were edited and which fields were edited, similar to what is in the Researcher History tab, would allow for greater auditing of when metadata is changed. This would be particularly useful when large teams are editing records.

  13. Add option to easily export internal organization structure to spreadsheet

We would like to be able to export a file which includes:
Top level unit | 2nd level unit | 3rd level unit | etc for all levels
    For example:
Weizmann Institute | Chemistry Faculty | Organic Chemistry Department
Weizmann Institute | Chemistry Faculty | Materials and Interfaces Department
Weizmann Institute | Biochemistry Faculty | Molecular Cell Biology Department
We managed to create such a report using the ‘Esploro Research Assets’ subject area – but this report includes only departments and faculties for which we have assets. If there are departments for which we do not have assets, they will…

    Hi,

I am reviewing Ideas Exchange and have some questions about this idea

This would be an export of the org structure only?  Is this in reference to analytics?

What purpose would this report serve?

    Thanks

    Tami

  14. Ability to flag external and internally managed grants

When a researcher is involved with a grant that is not managed by the organisation it would be nice to be able able to display this on the profile grants tab. So Internally managed grants would display as internally managed and ones where the researcher is a collaborator on a grant that is owned by another institution would show as externally managed.

  15. Display multiple SDG sources

Currently, the InCites integration allows for SDGs to be listed with the source of InCites (https://researchportal.scu.edu.au/esploro/outputs/991013141813602368) OR we can manually add SDGs via Esploro and they are listed with no source (e.g. https://researchportal.scu.edu.au/esploro/outputs/991013062209302368). We would like to see the ability to display BOTH manually added and imported SDGs.

For example, this same asset listed above from our live environment, I've added SDG 4, 8, 10 via the back end, but then it displays ONLY as 4,8,10 in the portal, overriding the SDG 3 from inCites: https://scu-researchmanagement-psb.esploro.exlibrisgroup.com/esploro/outputs/991013089213502368?institution=61SCU_INST

Ideally the source of the SDG could be shown similarly to…

  16. Allow users to sort assets

In the Scholarship section of the profile, assets appear in reverse chronological order and there is no way to change the sort. Please add a sort feature as we have in Primo.

  17. Draft mediated deposits display in profile

Currently, drafts of mediated deposits do not display in researcher profiles. Complicated mediated deposits like datasets often go through several drafts before they are ultimately approved and published. In these cases, it would be very useful for the draft deposit to display in the profiles of all affiliated researchers for their review and feedback.

  18. Researcher to choose which email display in their profile

Some of our Researcher records have multiple email addresses, whether by manual entry or from external data.

Example: Amanda has recently married, changed surnames and has a new email address (both her old and new emails are active work emails).

Amanda only wishes to use her new email with her married surname, so this email is set to be the preferred email address in her User record.
Amanda only wants to display her new email on her Researcher profile, however both her old and new emails are being displayed, as they are both email Type: Work and we have configured…

  19. Add the ability to display PlumX metrics badges

We would like the ability to display PlumX badges for assets. Being able to display WOS and Altmetrics badges/metrics on assets is great, but WOS covers only a select group of journals. Adding the ability to also include PlumX badges on assets would expand our metrics coverage to give administrators the numbers they want, and give researchers a fuller, more accurate picture of the impact of their works. Metrics make the academic world go round. And the more information we can provide our users, the more buy in we encourage across campus.
