Set default folder
How about a feature to set a default folder where refs are uploaded? I'm using the taskbar function to save to RefWorks and I'm required to assign the folder manually from the user interface every time.

Be able to set sharing options on sub-folders like you do on folders
Add sharing function for individual & group for sub-folders. It would be useful to be able to set sharing options on a sub folder without the parent folder having to be shared out as well.

Fix discrepancy in handling of 'retrieved' date
In Edit record mode, 'Date retrieved' is a single uncontrolled text string. In Output Style editor, this data is split across two elements 'Retrieved (month/day)' and 'Retrieved (year)'. This means you risk ending up either with incomplete retrieved dates or with a repeat of the retrieval year in the citation output, depending on how the data is stored. Can these different data components by standardized, so that retrieval data is handled consistently?

Link to pubmed
The old RefWorks version had an option to open the reference in pubmed, that option is not there with the updated ProQuest version? I need to use the update view since google docs and word docs do not link to the old version. I would like a link so I can directly open a reference in pubmed again, please.
18 votesWe are considering adding this option to RefWorks in a future release.

Technical standards currently uses the default reference type. We would prefer it to use Cite Them Right's Harvard specification
Cite Them Right defines it as:
Name of authorising organisation (Year of publication) Number and title of standard. Place of publication: publisher OR Available at: URL (Accessed: date).
(see attached screenshot for italics)
This could also be applied to Summon's Harvard output style which is also deficient. For example, on Summon the Harvard output style cites:
ASTM International 2017, Standard Practice for Sampling Freshly Mixed Concrete. This omits the parentheses around the year, and there is no metadata for: Place of publication: publisher. Similarly, for a BS EN ISO standard, the output is also wonky -- it should display British…6 votes -
Improve print/electronic differentiation in imported book references
The default setting for book imports is for electronic books and it is, in my experience, not apparent to users until an inaccurate bibliography is created.
Perhaps you could:
A) Change the default from electronic to print
B) Bring the 'this is an electronic resource' tick-box to the top of the screen when a user imports a book record.27 votesWe are improving the reference view, including always showing fields that are relevant for the selected reference type. This will address issues raised in this idea.

Problems with entering date
When full dates are entered in long date format (i.e. February 3, 2018), a comma is being added after the day number in the APA Citation view (i.e. 2018, Feb 3,). However, it should be displayed without the final comma (i.e. 2018, Feb 3). Entering the date without a comma (i.e. February 3 2018) into the 'Publish Date' field seems to correct the issue, but does not match the format of date as suggested by the in-field tip (i.e. "Mar 12, 2015" or "2015").

Export references with highlight or comment
When New RefWorks User tries to print/download a reference, the highlight or comment on the PDF file will be removed. We expect that it is possible to export the reference file including highlight or comment from New RefWorks.

Copy and paste ready-material citation style from other Sources
Ready-made citations are provided in some databases. However, there is no 'copy and paste' function in Refworks to import them. The articles from four very popular databases cannot be grabbed by 'Save to Refworks' - Britannica School, Questia, Statista and Discovery Education Streaming. But the databases provide citations, it is ashamed that the data cannot be transferred to Refworks easily.

Export to BibLaTeX format
RefWorks currently exports to BibTeX, the legacy bibliography system in TeX, but not to BibLaTeX, the modern and powerful bibliographic management in LaTeX&friends. Updating to BibLaTeX data model shouldn't be a big issue for RefWorks as it has the framework for exporting to BibTeX. Other tools like JabRef, Citavi, Zotero... have already native support for BibLaTeX.

Opportunity for creating hyperlinks between in-text ctations and related references in the bibliography
As lots of reports are read as pfd-files is would be a nice help for the reader to have the possibility to jump from the in-text citation to the appropriate entry in the bibliography. Creating Hyperlinks Between In-text Citations and Related References is an option that has been seen at other reference tools
