← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    From CNKI: "Part of CNKI, this database is a comprehensive collection of government gazettes, bulletins, announcements, and proclamations. It contains national and local laws and regulations from Chinese government departments at all levels and is updated frequently. Currently there are 380,000 items mainly published after 1994, with some titles covering retrospectively from the first issue."

    • Arte Publico Hispanic Historical Collection ARTFL (although I suspect we’re getting access to a fair number in the texts in here from Gallica or HathiTrust)

    • Parts of HeinOnline Independent Voices (newspapers/magazines can be searched as serial title, but articles aren’t searched) Iter
    • LatAm Studies (we have access to some, but not all, journals through other sources)

    Hello,

    It would be great if there was a complete CRCnetbase collection which consisted of all the titles in existing CRCnetbase subject collections for example ENGINEERINGnetbase and AGRICULTUREnetbase. This would clean up our LMS as we would have one instead of 30 collections.

  16. Add Los Angeles Times

    University of Redlands subscribes to Los Angeles Times current file and Historical Los Angeles Times from Proquest. I recently noticed LA Times news articles do not appear in Primo search results. I checked our PCI profile and the content lists at https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo_Central/Product_Documentation/Primo_Central_Indexing. It looks like LA Times databases are not included in the metadata Proquest is currently contributing to Primo Central. Could these collections be added so that we can have more consistent item level discovery of LA Times newspaper articles?

    Please include journals (listed below) published by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Press as target collection in Uresolver and SFX:

    NB these journals 2011–2017 were co-published with Taylor and Francis.

  19. Add another layer to database list of 360 e-journal Portal.

    Currently, the database list in 360 e-journal portal shows all subscribed databases.

    But sometimes it is too much for end users to check all of them and most of the listed databases are not needed by them.

    So, if there is a function which enables the database list to have 2 layers like "most accessed databases(Library can choose them)" and "All databases" , it would be more useful.
