  1. Add option to import citations in bulk to "Search the Library" and "Import References"

Currently, it is only possible to add one single citation at a time to a reading list when using "Search the Library" or "Import References from Zotero/from Mendeley". It would be very convenient if instructors could select multiples citations in the results list and import them in bulk into the reading list.

  2. Zotero/ Mendeley Import: Add option to select a folder/ a collection

In Zotero and Mendeley, users can organize their references in folders or collections. In Leganto, however, citations from reference management systems can only be imported at the library level (everything). Especially for users with extensive reference collections, it would be much clearer if a specific folder or a specific collection could be selected when importing citations into Leganto.

  3. Automatically checking if a newer edition exists

When instructors create reading lists, they're often interested in the newest edition of a book, but may not be aware that a newer edition exist.
If they're library doesn't have it or (when searching in a broader scope) if no one in the consortium has catalogued it yet, they won't find it.
In any case, automatically checking if such an edition exist would be a nice feature.

  4. Deactivate filters in “lists” area and filters related to citations inside the lists

We would like to have the possibility to deactivate filters in “lists” area and filters related to citations inside the lists.
Some of these types of filters are not relevant for us.

    For Examples:

    CITATION FILTERS:
    - DUE DATE: no due date in our workflows. Once published, lists and citations have to be always available to our patrons.
    - STATUS: citation status are related to the activities carry out by librarians, instructors don’t need to see them
    LIST FILTERS:
    - COURSE STATUS: the distinction between active and inactive course is not relevant for us
    - LIST TYPE: we automatically create…

  5. Instructor role - view reading list status from Leganto

With the instructor role, the reading list status is not displayed when working on the list from Leganto.
We find it very necessary for the instructor to know at all times what state the reading list is in so that when the process is finished, he can publish the list. We ask that this privilege be included in the instructor role.

  6. Complete change log for reading lists

Our Instructors are in need of a feature that allow them to retrieve/view a complete change log for reading lists.

The feature ‘View recent changes’ is somewhat similar, but the feed currently only display changes made by others - not your own. It would be great if this feature were expanded to include all changes made on a list.

Being able to review all changes made to a reading list is not only useful for monitoring a list, it is also an important collaboration tool – primarily with fellow Instructors, but also e.g. when reviewing course material changes with faculty…

  8. Enable set-creation for citations, reading lists, and courses

At the moment, creating sets for Leganto to run jobs on is a pain - contratry to other indices in Alma you can't just click 'Save Query' and then run a job on the set.
No, you have to create a list either from an Excel export or Analytics and then create an itemized set from it.

This is extremely annoying because you have to create a new input list and a new set every time you need to run a job.

Please enable the creation of (logical) sets for citations, reading lists, and courses from a search in Alma…

  9. Hide locations from Resource Locate

    Hide locations from Resource Locate

We would like an option to filter out specific locations for the resource locate functionality in Leganto.

For legal reasons we can't purge lost/discarded items, they have to remain in Alma where they are collected in locations that are suppressed from discovery so they don't show up in Primo. Unfortunately that doesn't exclude them from being used as positive results for resource locating even though they are not actually available.

We also have several collections that are not accessible to people but (some of them) show up in Primo. Those are also items we wouldn't…

  10. Automatic enrichment (update) of reading list citations

We are looking at using Rialto and ordering from Leganto looks to be a good option as Academics can place requests (Purchase requests) through the system. Ideally we would like the entry in Leganto to update the citation and status automatically once a bib is attached to the citation.

  11. Add link checker for instructors

When an instructor copies a reading list to use for another course/semester it would be nice the instructors to be able to run a link checker so dead links can be fixed before publishing the list.

  12. Adding tags from Cite it

Currently there is no way to add tags at the same time as you create a citation from Cite it. You have to first add the citation to the list, then open the list, find the citation and finally add tags. This is a cumbersome and inefficient process that could be improved.

Cite it has other features that allow you to add public notes, due dates and creative commons licenses to your citations. These features are not as widely used as tags, but they are available at the time of creating a citation. Having the ability to add tags at…

  13. Save a selection of Citation menu option as the default view

When entering Citation view to process current course reserves, you must first always select from the List Assigned to menu "Assigned to me" and then apply various other filters to limit the view to what needs to be processed. It takes time to apply each filter each time the citations list is accessed; allowing some filters to be "sticky" or default according to processor preference would save time when processing citation requests.

  14. Automatically set Open Access citations to complete

I'd like to propose a new functionality enabling citations that are open access to be set to "complete" (semi-)automatically.

Having to go through all open citations and checking each for possible open access is a cumbersome and time consuming effort we (the library) would like to simplify.

An "[ ] Open Access" checkbox within the Add Item menu, the citation and for Cite It! would enable instructors to do so themselves with little additional work on their side.

  15. Multi Course Export

Leganto currently allows instructors the ability to export a single class list to Excel. We’re asking for an expansion of that ability to allow librarians and/or faculty to export lists from a set of multiple classes at once.

    Use Cases:
Program Review, this would allow program chairs or deans to review materials in use across their student’s course of study. This would let them analyze their data to identify materials for update and understand when citations overlap to provide a top down view of their program.

Instructor review, this would allow instructors to easily review the citations used in their…

  16. Notification function for Library Staff

To add the notification function for Library Staff to notify the Library Staff by email if the citations have the following changes:

    • A tag was added to an item
    • A tag was removed from an item
    • A comment was added to a citation
    • A submit lists by date was added to your course
    • New library discussion in citation
    • The due date was updated in an item
    • A new item was added to a list

  17. Hide instructors ability to restrict access to reading lists based on time intervals

In Leganto, instructors have a lot of opportunities to restrict access to the reading list by setting specific time intervals where resources are visible. This includes separate settings for entire reading lists, sections, citations and uploaded material. We have received reports from our libraries that these functions are sometimes used incorrectly by the instructors. The instructors often do not grasp all the consequences of using these features and end up causing these resources to become unavailable at inopportune times and not knowing why. For instance, an instructor might set the reading list to be visible from August 10th – December…

Some of this has already been implemented in the new UI:

Citations: instructors can no longer set specific visibility dates per item.

Sections: Sections can still be hidden/display according to the section date. No changes are planned.

Lists: List dates will not impact the list visibility starting with the May 2024 release.

  18. Add parameter "no list expected" to make sets and global changes to courses via "Course bulk update" job

A few monts ago, Alma added the option "no list expected" to the courses. This parameter can only be searched through Analytics, but we want to:
-make it available in Alma to refine searches when making sets.
-be an option to make global changes to courses in the "course bulk update" job

Example: I want to make a set with all courses that belong to an academic department and the parameter "no list expected" is unchecked.
Then, I want to make global changes to mark "no list expected" in all courses of this set.

  19. Add course context to notifications in Leganto

Currently (March 2018) notifications in Leganto don't really provide any course context, or grouping on the basis of course, e.g.
"- A new item was added to a list
New item added to the reading list [list name]
    [User] added [title details]"

which means that for users with many courses (students or instructors), and with several lists for a course, the context of what has really been added to where is quite confusing, or at least not very useful since the viewer has no real sense of what the change aplies to, rather they can only see the fact of…

  20. Improve handling of expired user accounts for course owners during rollovers

For rollovers we copy the collaborators from the original list and usually this is OK, however we then start getting bounce back emails for Leganto notifications being sent to email addresses that are no longer active.

A couple of options that would be helpful...
    1. Provide option in the integration parameters to prevent an expired collaborator being copied on rollover
    2. Job report to provide a warning that a course owner/collaborator has an expired user account
