Pop up confirmation message when file is uploaded
We think it would be useful to have the option to enable a yes/no confirmation popup message after instructors upload a file. The message text could be configurable. Clicking "yes" would complete the upload and clicking "no" would cancel the upload.
For example, in our case we would like to have a message that says something like:
Before uploading a file, please check if the library has a copy.
Before uploading this file, I searched the library and did not find a copy of this resource?
Yes/No
Currently we have had instructors upload unlicensed copies of resources to Leganto. When these are uploaded, sometimes sufficient metadata is included to locate a library copy. Other times, the metadata isn't sufficient.
• If the resource is located, we can remove the uploaded unlicensed version.
• If it is not located, we have to first search to confirm we don't have a licensed copy and then proceed with getting appropriate copyright clearance or a licensed copy. This requires follow up by staff.
With this pop up message enabled and configured, instructors would be asked to confirm they have searched the library for a licensed version of the resource before uploading a copy.
• If they click yes, the file will be uploaded as usual.
• If they click no, the file upload will be cancelled. The message will encourage the instructors to search for a licensed copy of the resource first and if available add the citation.
Overall, having this pop up would allow us to provide standardized feedback to users on the preferred use of the file upload functionality, reduced the number of unlicensed files being uploaded, and help staff process these types of citations.
We believe this is resolved by the new UI.

We have a similar issue with instructors uploading PDFs which don't comply with copyright or licence agreements - frequently articles which they've downloaded from subscription databases which the library has access to. Library staff then have to remove the files and inform the instructor.
If this is implemented it would be good if we could include HTML in the popup - so we could link to the university's copyright policies, for example.
