  1. Retain the original 'request for review' date

Due to administrative deadlines etc we are interested in knowing when the list was first sent for review to the library. As of now we are experiencing that this date is updated when/if a course instructor submits the reading list again, which means we lose the original date.

Our suggestion is that the original date is retained in a separate field.

  2. Add semester and year as possible fields in the Find list advanced search

Find list settings allow librarians to customize the basic and advanced search interfaces in Leganto. However year and semester are not among the search fields to be chosen from. These are useful search criteria and we would like them to be added to the Find list setting table.

  3. Cite It compatibility with JISC's Library Hub Discover (NBK)

Library Hub Discover (replacement of COPAC) is not currently compatible with Cite It.

Cite It only currently captures basic metadata from the site: citation type is always other, title is always Library Hub (rather than the title from the record) and no other details are picked up apart from the URL.

It would be of great benefit to UK users if Library Hub Discover could be made compatible with Cite It.

  4. Have statuses in the task list match reading list statuses

In Alma, librarians can be presented with different "tasks" in the task list, including for example
"Unassigned - Ready for processing" and "Unassigned - Processing".

I'm not sure why Being Prepared and Ready for Processing are gathered under the label Processing in the task list, as only Ready for Processing means the library has to act upon it. This also means that "Processing" might overlap with the just "Ready for processing" task.

It would be more convenient and logical to use the actual statuses, and only them in the task list. It would also avoid duplicates as for example "Unassigned…

  5. Trigger Owner Subscription Letter on rollover and on active auto_set_instructors_as_owners

We would like the Owner Subscription Letter to activate when instructors are automatically set as owners to corresponding reading lists. We would like this to happen on rollover as well.

The Leganto Notification Letter is to imprecise to function well as information for the instructors when they have been added as owners to a reading list.

We can't see why the OWS only triggers when you are added as an owner when in Leganto, or when added in Alma and you actively choose "Send E-mail".

Now we need to retrieve the contact information from Course Reserves in Analytics. Since these…

  6. Display book chapter title for book chapter citations in the Edit Reading List screen

When a citation has the material type of 'Book chapter' we would like the book chapter title to display for the citation in the Edit Reading List page. Currently we need to click Edit and scroll down to find this simple and necessary piece of information. It is also missing from the 'Citation details' tab of the citation. Often, we have multiple book chapter citations for the same book in the reading list. These citations appear identical in the current display so displaying the book chapter title as well as the book title will help distinguish these citations and improve…

  7. Automatically close "Edit menu" after clicking "Set complete"

When clicking "Set complete" while editing a resource in brief view, the edit menu does not automatically close itself as it does with most other options. This generates an extra click in order to get to the next item on the list. Could the edit menu be automatically closes when clicking "Set complete"?

  8. citation tag manage purchase request

Can the 'Citation tags' facet/filter also be added to the 'Manage Purchase Requests' screen.

To provide context, the citation tags we have created ourselves are 'Essential', 'Core', Further Reading', 'Distance Learning', 'Recommended' and so on. Our reading list team will want to complete all purchase requests, however, they may wish to process purchase requests marked essential, before moving onto the Core reading etc. Or have different team members working through different citation tags. Having this facet in 'Manage Purchase Requests' will allow the team to prioritise particular requests over others.

Feels like a small feature to implement, but will have…

  9. Improve access to Public Notes - allow editing from the Citation edit option

Public Notes (instructor notes on resources visible to list users) are treated oddly in Leganto compared to other reading list systems - that is they are not given equal status as other citation metadata fields in the Citation Edit form.

Public Notes are regularly used by Instructors to annotate or qualify resources; to comment on and direct students as to the quality, purpose, priority, and considerations of using certain resources, or parts of resources.

In that sense the Public Note should be accessible for editing when editing all other item metadata (such as chapter title etc.

    Currently the Public note…

  10. Allow users (especially students) to add a note when link is marked as broken

When checking the broken link alerts each morning we often have to email the users to diagnose their access issues. It would save time if the user could add a short note at the point when they click 'Mark as broken'.

  11. Optional fields for more flexible export options

There are various ways to export a list, but the general feedback we get from the consortium is that there is often something missing and/or some elements are irrelevant:
Excel: tags are not included, and there are too many columns otherwise.
Word: with Apa or Chicago, public notes are not included; with the expanded reading style, tags are included, but not in a way that can help sort the citations, and physical location is irrelevant.
The pdf export contains some of this information but is not very print friendly.

In other words, none of the export options covers entirely the…

  14. Library Physical Digitization Request Option to Attach File to Citation For Which It Was Requested

When using the Library Physical Digitization Request option to create a digitization process for a file for a Reading List, the file is delivered to the Requestor at the end of the workflow. This request is asking for another option: an option for Alma to automatically upload the file to the citation for which it was requested. This would save a lot of time spent used for file retrieval and file management and would prevent the file being uploaded on the wrong citation.

  15. Make Hiding Incomplete Citations feature more flexible

There was a new feature in Leganto December 2019 release to hide incomplete citations. This feature has potential but can it be made more flexible so the Library can select which citation statuses to be shown to students and vice versa?

    User Story:
As a librarian, our preference is for students to view all the citations besides issues that we need to verify with course instructor, e.g. copyright or licensing issues. It will be better if the Library can determine what citation statuses should be hidden from students.

    Scenario 1 :
UNSW uses citation status of 'ILL Requested' or 'In…

  16. Allow ability to enable Library Discussion at citation level only and deactivate at list level

We would like the ability to be able to choose whether Library Discussion is activated at list level, citation level, or both.

The scenario for this is that we currently use library discussion at the citation level for academics to request titles to be transferred to our High Demand collection, but have found that some are using the discussion at list level for other enquiries. Discussions added at list level do not generate a notification and can be missed by library staff, unless they go into the reading list in Alma and check for notes. Ideally we would like the…

  17. Language as part of citation

We would like that the language of the document to be part of the citations. In a non-english speaking country as Norway there are political interest to see how much of the reading are in Norwegian and how much that are in other languages.

Language is a part of the records in Alma, and also for the records that are fetched from Primo, so it should be possible populate automatically a vast majority of the (new) records added to a list if there is a field for language.

It must also be possible to generate reports in analytics based on…

  18. Allow public notes to be copied when copying citations

Currently it is not possible to copy Public Notes when copying a citation using either the citation copy option from the item menu, OR when using the Bag it feature and copy option there.
It is possible, however, to copy Public Notes when rolling lists over in the Course Loader/Instructor Rollover.
It would be useful if it was possible to copy Public Notes for citations when copying citation in general - this could perhaps be a prompted option or a configurable one depending on whether the single or bulk selection of citation contains Public Notes.
    No doubt the same could…

  19. Show all user IDs where more than one user reports broken citation link

The Edit Citations area in Alma only shows the user ID of the most recent user to mark a citation link as broken. If more than one user has marked the same link as broken then this is shown by a number, but you cannot see the previous user IDs.

This is hugely problematic for our team as we try to follow up with all users by email, either to let them know that a broken link has been fixed or to ask for more information for troubleshooting purposes.

  20. Reject input if DOI or citation source URL is incorrectly formatted (Leganto instructor UI)

We have seen many instructors create citations manually (rather than using Cite It) with the DOI formatted as a full URL (e.g. "https://doi.org/10.1111/misp.12056" rather than just "10.1111/misp.12056"). This prevents the citation from resolving and linking to the resource as expected.

Similarly, some users will add the citation source URL without the "https://" prefix, or with other formatting issues which prevent it from linking as expected.

A simple fix for this issue would be for Leganto to detect incorrectly formatted DOIs or URLs and to reject input, displaying a tooltip to inform the user of the correct format. Alternatively,…
