  1. Display percentage of copyright item

Currently when a lecturer puts through a copyright clearance form, it shows them the page range in Leganto, and in Alma it shows librarians the page range, the total required pages, and the total number of pages in the full item. We'd like it to also display the percentage, where this can be calculated.

Eg if a book is 400 pages and someone requests clearance for pages 21-40:

In Alma on the Approval Request screen where the librarian sees:
    "Resource Total Pages
    400
    Required Pages
    21-40
    Total Required Pages
    20"

    we'd like to also see
    "Percentage
    5%"

    And if possible…

  2. Let the library choose to have "More item details" in Edit item, open as default

We would like to be able to choose to have the "More item details" (when editing a reference) open as default, instead of as a drop down choice like now.

This would make it easier for teachers to see which fields are possible to edit. This will not affect the Save-button, as it is fixed to the bottom.

  3. Define course dates automatically from LTI launch

Currently when creating a course via LTI, the course name, course code, and course ID are automatically filled in. But the course start date and end date aren't, so default to the dates configured as default in Alma, or to the current day's date.

This is extra work for the library to maintain and/or for lecturers to update, and this risks errors creeping in which could affect our copyright clearance reporting.

Can the course dates data be automatically brought across via LTI into the Leganto course?

  4. Display availability of citations when direct linking is enabled

When direct linking is enabled, Leganto displays a "View Online" link for every citation regardless of whether or not it is actually available online. Availability is only calculated after the user clicks "View Online." If the item is not available, they are redirected to a blank screen with the message: "No full text available". This is an unnecessarily confusing and frustrating user experience and different from how direct linking works in Primo, where "View Online" only appears when full text is available. This enhancement would allow availability to be calculated when the reading list is loaded to avoid confusion and…

  5. purchase request workflow made leaner

When a purchase request created via Leganto, is 'approved and ordered', this generates a PO number, which although appears as a link, doesn't then let you edit the purchase order after clicking on that link. You have to instead copy and paste the PO number into the search box and go from there to edit it further.

Please can you make this process leaner by allowing users to edit the PO through the link in the [popup message that appears, after approve and order is selected. Please see attached document for details of the workflow.

When reviewing a PO line in view mode, an Edit option is now available. The visibility of the edit button depends on PO line status, PO line assignment. Additionally, the user must have a Purchasing Manager or Purchasing Operator role.
The list of PO line statuses that allow editing are:
    In Review
    Deferred
Waiting for renewal (Manual or Auto)
Waiting for Packaging (Manual or auto)
    Ready
    Sent
    Waiting For Invoice

  6. Locked lists should be enabled for rollover and duplication in Leganto

At present when a reading list is locked it cannot be duplicated or rolled over by a user in Leganto.

We lock lists to preserve them in accordance with University policy on retention of learning materials at the end of each semester.
Instructors may want to go back to older lists to create new ones. To do so they have to contact the Library if they want to duplicate or rollover a list from a previous semester.

Locking a list should only prevent that list from being changed. It should not prevent someone from using it to create a new…

  7. Message at login to users with unsupported Internet Explorer versions

Many websites, such as Facebook, Youtube and Gmail are no longer supporting old versions of Internet Explorer. Older versions of Internet Explorer(IE) have security problems which will never be fixed and using it will leave you vulnerable to all sorts of problems on the internet.

Suggestion: Users receive a message saying that their browser does not meet the minimum requirements for accessing Leganto upon trying to log in with an unsupported browser. They may still be able to log in, but will not be able to view/use Leganto effectively. This has been done for other systems, see for example the…

  8. Make online links available while file is waiting for copyright approval

If a citation (added either via the Primo search in Leganto, or via CiteIt) has an online link, then this is displayed for students (even if the item is still BeingPrepared instead of Complete).

But if the instructor then also uploads a file to the item and copyright approval is needed then
    a) the file is unavailable to students until it's approved - this is good! and
    b) the online link is now also unavailable to students until the file is approved

We'd like the online link to remain available regardless of whether or not a file is waiting for…

  9. Lock a section for editing

We would like to be able to lock a section in a reading list.

Some of our courses lasts two semesters, but they only use one reading list divided into sections for each semester. If a section could be locked we could be sure they only edit the section for the coming semester.

  10. Ability to batch select and delete/copy/move citations in List sections (similar to Collections).

COLLECTION has a tick box feature that allows you to select multiple items to delete/import/export. In the List Sections, there is no such feature. For larger lists, it is cumbersome to delete/move/copy citations because it has to be done individually. It would be very useful to have the batch selection feature.

  11. Recalculate course reserves automatic status if a tag is added to citation

The Course Reserves Automatic Statuses mapping table allows us to automatically assign the status of ‘Complete’ to physical citations (parameter key citation_physical). However, our digitisation workflow requires that a tag called ‘Digitisation request’ is added to the physical citation, in which case, the status of ‘Complete’ is no longer correct. When a specified tag is added to a citation (as configured by the library, e.g. 'Digitisation request') can the status be recalculated automatically and a different status (configured by the library, e.g. 'Digitisation requested') be assigned?

  12. Auto-populate start/end pages in copyright clearance form

When a lecturer submits a copyright clearance form it's pre-populated with the course availability dates, but the start/end pages aren't pre-populated even when they're already in the citation (see attached screenshot for an example). Automatically populating this information would save lecturer time, and decrease the likelihood of them neglecting to enter it so would also save library staff time.

  13. Make the list and section sticky in CiteIt

This idea from an instructor - with agreement from other instructors in a focus group.

When preparing reading lists I tend to work on one list at a time often using CiteIt. It would be really time-saving if CiteIt could remember the list and section that I was just working on rather than force me to choose those options each time I add a new citation

  14. Searching for citations within a list from Leganto

When searching within a Leganto list for a citation, all sections display even if they don't contain citations which match the search terms. This makes the results screen cluttered and difficult to scan, especially in lists that contain lots of sections. To identify whether any section contains a search result the user has to look for a section which contains a number other than 0. This is very unintuitive. We would expect after the search is conducted that only sections which contain search results would display and all other sections would be hidden.

  15. Associate new reading list from inside course with that course

When a reading list is created from inside a course, it would help the instructor if the list would then automatically be associated with that course. Or at least be very easy to associate it with the course that the instructor is currently in.

At this moment, the instructor is inside a course in Leganto. Adds a new reading list. Has to associate that reading list to a course all over again, while the instructor is already there.
    This is confusing for instructors.

This is resolved in the 2023 Leganto new user experience. When instructors begin in the LMS and create a new or additional list in Leganto, the list will be automatically associated with the course.

  16. Display tags on page showing multiple lists a citation appears on

When you click on the "Demand in other lists, other courses" alert, the subsequent page (screenshot included) presents you with a table of all other lists where a citation appears. It would be really useful if this table displayed the tags associated with the citation on each list.

We use tags to inform our purchasing quantities, so when currently reviewing lists, we are having to go in and view the citation on each individual list to check for tags.

  17. Improve courses usability in Alma

I'm currently updating lots of instructors in course records. It would really help if there was a way to limit either by filter or facets for the course year in addition to Status, Term and Academic department.

Ideally adding Courses to the persistent search bar and providing facets would be marvellous, but in the interim adding Year to the filters would help. Also, being able to sort by year, academic department would be nice.

  18. Choose which useful links teaching staff and students see

We have just spotted that it’s possible to set up useful links in Leganto, these appear in the top right menu, see screen shot attached.

We have created a user guide for teaching staff and would like to add this using this link, however we only want this to be visible to teaching staff and not to appear in student view. Similarly we would like to be able to give students specific links that appear only in student view.

  19. Add "list ID" to searchable ids/All in Alma reading lists persistent search

It would be useful if reading list ID was searchable for "Reading lists" in the persistent search bar in Alma. Currently it is List code, but this is not important to many users, especially with leganto, and given that the list id is really the only pure list id you see in Leganto front end (address bar, permalink) it would assist with error checking, isolating oddities from analytics reporting, and being sure people have easy and consistent access to the right versions of materials between the front end and the back end. Going from Alma to Leganto the link uses…

  20. Allow multiple citation material types to be selected in questions and answers mapping table

When configuring the question and answer pop up feature, currently in the question mapping table only one citation material type can be selected per row.

Therefore, if you want the same question and answers pop up to appear for more than one citation, you need to duplicate the question on multiple rows for each citation type. Allowing multiple citation types to be selected per row would avoid this duplication.

For example, we have a pop up configured to appear for books, book chapter and DVD citations to ask instructors to tag them for importance (Core, Essential etc), which allows library…
