  1. HTML in list notes and list and sections' description fields

In some cases, an instructor needs to provide extra information to their student by referring to an external website.
Use case: "All the citations in this section cannot be booked through the library but can be found in the compendium. More information <a>here</a>."

It would be very useful to use HTML in the list notes, or in the description field of the list or sections. Both so instructors can use links, but also to make the information more visible if it comes after a long list of citations (in the case of a list note).

  2. Service Temporarily Unavailable Message from Primo to appear in Leganto

In Alma, you can configure a "Service Temporarily Unavailable" message via the service labels. This can then be applied to electronic collections in Alma, and displays when viewed in Primo.

As this functionality already exists in Alma/Primo, I feel it should be extended to appear in Leganto as well, otherwise Users are not getting information about services being unavailable.

  3. Reset X when searching for items in list should reset results to all citations

When using "Search for item in this Reading List", if a term returns a subset of citations, clearing the search term using the X ("Reset") icon in the search box does not return the user to the full list. It only clears the term out of the search box, leaving the limited results. The user has no intuitive path back to the full list, so they often click the back button at the top of the window and exit the list entirely.

Conversely, if the search term returns no results, clicking the X icon does return the user to the…

  4. Customise mandatory fields per citation type

Currently the only mandatory field for a citation is "Title". We would like to be able to customise which fields are mandatory depending on the item type, so that instructors are prompted to fill out more than just the title when adding items from outside of our collections.

We often find tutors fill out the title and add a URL, but if that URL breaks then just the title isn’t always sufficient information to find a new link to the resource. Having just the title also doesn't give students much information to work with when judging which resources to engage…

  5. Filter "My lists" by course

Some instructors have many lists. It would be useful if they could filter based on year and semester in addition to the existing sorting options.

  6. Create brand new courses during rollover

When we import course data into Alma, we use a program that extracts all the courses from our course database and produces a ready-to-use import file for any given institution. The course ID in this file is typically something like COURSE-AUTUMN-2021 (Course code, semester and year).

We use the same file if we want to run a rollover, with some manual changes to it. We don't check if the courses we extracted are new, or if there is an existing course in Alma for the year before. Our starting point is the COURSE-ID column, and in OLD-COURSE-ID we write the…

  7. Who published the list should be displayed in Reading List Information in Alma

Information about the person who published the reading list is poorly accessible. It can be found under Recent Changes in the Reading List in Alma, but it can disappear if the log is too long. We would like it to be clearly visible on the Reading List level and placed next to the Review Requester field.

We need this solution for better reporting and list management. We believe that this should be an easy fix, as all of the information is already available in the system.

Information about person who published the list should be added to Course Reserves Subject…

  8. Display usage relevant to citation type in List Analysis

Student usage of a citation is only generated if a student interacts with a citation, such as by opening the citation in full view. For some citation types, this does not present a meaningful view of usage.

For example, for print citations, it would be more relevant to display number of loans for the print copies, rather than evaluating usage purely on how many times the full citation has been viewed. Usage for fields such as Student Full Text Views are also not relevant for this citation type.

Usage shown in List Analysis should either be relevant across all citation…

  11. Add information about who published the list to Course Reserves SA in Analytics

Information about the person who published the list should be added to Course Reserves Subject Area in Analytics. We need this solution for better reporting and list management.

Right now, information about the person who published the reading list is poorly accessible. It can be found under Recent Changes in the Reading List in Alma, but it can disappear if the log is too long. We would like it to be clearly visible on the Reading List level (registered as a separate idea https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/395697-leganto/suggestions/43545540-who-published-the-list-should-be-displayed-in-read) and available in Analytics.

  12. Give book extract citation type its own title field

We like the concept of the book extract citation type, but would like it to operate more like a book chapter type rather than an article.

We would like to give them titles like "Questions from Chapter 14", or use section headings that may be on the page of the book. If there was nothing obvious to use in the book, then we could make up a description of the extract [Extract from ch. 4].

For students this would give them a clearer idea of what they are supposed to read rather than just seeing the whole book title.

    For…

  13. Setting the help page display method

When I set a link to the institution's own page in Help, the page pop up on the Leganto screen.
We would like to add a setting that allows the Help page to be displayed in another tab of the browser directly from the link.

  14. Add appointment button in the reading list

Implement an automatic citations button in the bibliographic lists (student view), similar to Primo. This will allow teachers and students to cite the course bibliography

  15. Allow bulk update to material type of citations

When adding citations that are ebooks, it is common that the material type is not correctly populated as 'ebook'. The material type often presents as an empty field or as a 'book'

Statistically our institution is tracking analytics to monitor how many citations are print books vs ebooks. In order to perform this reporting accurately, the material type of these ebook citations needs to be updated.

There are additional situations where material types could be consolidated (For example citations can come through as 'Video','Streaming','Streaming Video') and we would like to consolidate these into a single Video material type.

    Currently this…

  16. Predefined searches to Find lists

It is possible to create simple search-links to Leganto that gives you a list of reading lists that matches the query, e.g.:
    https://bibsys-xc.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/leganto/readinglist/searchlists?search=MGUEN101&auth=SAML

We would like the possibility to use other and more specified fields the same way and build up an advanced search URL.

Practical use-case: In the February 2021 release of Leganto new search fields were added to the advanced search for Term and Year. It would be useful to create a link that searches for reading lists for a specific year/term.

  17. DCS Synchronise job to run more frequently

The DCS Synchronise job can currently only be scheduled to run once every day at 23:00. It would be helpful if this job could be scheduled to run more frequently throughout the day, for example every 4 hours. This would streamline the DCS integration and allow requests to be updated and made available more quickly.

For example, if an urgent digitisation request has been processed via the DCS, it will not update on the reading list in Leganto until later on in the evening, unless staff manually update the citation using the Update DCS status action. If the job could…

  20. allow course archiving as well as reading list

The title says it all. Alma allows you to archive reading lists, which is useful--this leaves them as reportable in Analytics but removes them from Alma -- however strangely this function does not exist for at the course level, including the course that contains any archived reading lists. Since we get new course records every semester, this leaves a lot of expired courses that our reserves staff have to wade through, and makes this archiving feature note very useful for the course management workflow. If you deleted courses, any reading lists that had been archived would disappear from Analytics.

    I…
