Fulfillment: Automatic Renewal Notices / Email Letters to patrons when loans automatically renewed
Our users have requested to be notified with the new due date when an on loan item is automatically renewed by Alma. This is currently not possible and users are not aware when the item is due back until they receive a courtesy reminder 2-3 days before the due date. We would like Alma to provide the option to configure and send Auto Renewal Notices / Email Letters to users when their loans have automatically been renewed by Alma. We have Auto Renewal Activated and our users do not receive any notification that this has taken place. We would like to be able to send notification of the Auto Renewal and the new due date to our patrons.
Hi,
It will be possible to configure the system (with a utomatic renew rule output parameter to say whether to send an email to the patron when renewal takes place.
If emails are sent, they will be sent in an aggregated manner (single notice for all renewed loans)

We are very interested in this - any new developments? The lack of a notice is causing us to not take advantage of this feature.

I'd also like to know when this will be implemented.

Any details on when this will be implemented?

There needs to be a notice to inform users that their items have been automatically renewed. There is an old idea posted here from 2016 and it was closed/set to planned, but the enhancement never took place.

Could you provide details of where and how I would configure the output parameter. I am trying to set the same thing up.

Tihs is great, but is there a way to also say they have not renewed.
we operate a two week auto renewal and they have them for up to 26 weeks. It would be ideal if at 24 weeks they could have a notice which gives them a notice to say its due back in two weeks
currently our patrons just receive the standard email saying its due today

We only want this letter be sent in the last renew. In our configuration, the 4th renew.

although we have a policy to not spam users and normally I'd agree with Tony, we really want this because it seems users continued to be confused by auto-renew.

Curtin would also want to opt out of this feature as we send our Courtsey Notices 10 days before the due date. However, I do think we should have the choice of opting in/out.

Agree with Tony,as to opt-out/library configuration. For most auto-renewals in our service the emphasis is on 'contact by exception', i.e. only message when action is required to return items. There are the courtesy message/pre-overdue at the renewal failure, then due now messages, in addition to which a weekly statement is sent. Presumably here the same job that sends the courtesy reminder might also send the auto renew loan status change. In our case we would not wish this to be active.

If this idea is to be implemented, can it be made as something libraries can opt-in/opt-out? Currently, we have a policy that we only get in touch with clients about their loan if there's an action for them (i.e. if the item has to be returned due to recalled or reached max. renewal period). If an item is auto-renewed, there's no action for our clients and hence we currently do not require an additional notice.
