Add vendor Preselect.media to Upload Electronic Holdings workflow
We found out that vendor Preselect.media regularly moves metadata in Alma CZ to different e-collections. We think it might be more efficient to implement an integration profile Upload Electronic Holdings for Preselect. This would eliminate a lot of manual work.
One of our libraries was in contact with Preselect about the moved metadata and suggested to them the implementation of the integration profile. They thought it was a good idea and are already in contact with Ex Libris.
Could Ex Libris inform the community about the progress of this integration through this post?
Many thanks!
27 votesIt is now allowed to automatically upload electronic holdings for the Preselect collection. For more information, please refer to the Alma May release notes and online help.

Add "General Notes" at the collection, service, and portfolio levels as indexable/searchable fields
Unfortunately, we have received the following case response: "Notes fields are not indexed for search as this is not within the current design/intended use for these fields."
So we hope to get support for our proposal in the Alma community. Our colleagues in the e-resources department use the "General notes" field at the collection, service, and portfolio levels.
However, it is not possible to search for theses notes:(1) In Alma itself you can search for:
Electronic Collection:
- Authentication note (Electronic Collection)
- Public note (Electronic Collection)
- Service Authentication note
Electronic Portfolio:
- Authentication note (Electronic Porfolio)
-…104 votesIt is now optional to search by General Note in the Electronic Collection search in the Alma Advanced Search.

Ebook usage information in Alma on Other Details per portfolio
Within Alma when looking at Ebooks (or journals) it would be nice to have the ability to see "usage" - by portfolio - based on the OpenURL report or potentially pulling in SUSHI harvested data. It could be on the portfolio level or "Other details" similar to how books show usage. Quick way to determine if additional titles need to be purchased.

Collection level access model setting
Please create a setting where we can choose the ebook access model at the collection level. We have many ebook collections where we know everything in them is the same access model, usually unlimited (UA). It would be helpful to be able to set this at the collection level so every portfolio in that collection will have the access model display in Primo.
97 votesAs of February 2024, users can define an access model at the collection level where all portfolios inherit. This is particularly beneficial for libraries with auto-activated collections, as it ensures that each new addition seamlessly inherits the access model.

Ability to track changes made to all fields on Electronic Collection record history tab
Presently, only changes made to some fields in an electronic collection record are tracked on the Electronic Collection Record History tab. For example, if I enter text in the Description field on the Electronic Collection Description tab, the History tab shows a "Modification Date" but does not indicate what field was modified. If I change the Access type field on the General tab, the History tab does not record that any change was made.
The usefulness of the History tab is greatly reduced if not all field changes are tracked. It is more difficult to trust the system or to…
89 votesChanges in “Access Type” and “Description” fields are now being tracked in the History tab of the Electronic Collection.

Add 'Test access' button to New Portfolio editor
When adding a new local portfolio in an electronic collection we will always test access before the task is completed.
Currently we have to click 'Save and done', search for the portfolio and then test access. If the link is incorrect, we have to edit, save, and test again. Please add the 'Test access' button in the New Portfolio editor as in the Electronic Portfolio Editor to save us time and extra clicks.
216 votesA new page action is added that enables the user to save the newly created portfolio and test the access simultaneously.

Add ability to load split coverage dates with portfolio loader & export split coverage dates from Alma using standard export methods
This feature would add the ability to load and export split coverage date ranges for Alma portfolios. Currently, the portfolio loader only allows uploading continuous coverage date ranges. However, in some cases, a journal has split coverage dates. For example, we might have access to a journal from:
1980-1995
1997-presentCurrently, there is no way to upload this using the portfolio loader; the portfolio loader will only load one of the date ranges. This means we must do extra manual work to enter these date ranges in the portfolio editor.
Also, the standard portfolio export features in Alma, in cases…
194 votesWhen using the Extended Export function the exported file now supports the export of portfolios with multi-coverage (in addition to the existing support for single-coverage).

Provide an integration profile for Ebook Central subscribed titles
We subscribe to the collection Ebook Central Academic Complete International Edition. The number of subscribed titles on the Ebook Central platform is currently around 185 000. However, the Community Zone collection only has around 164 000 titles.
According to ProQuest, there are differences between countries in terms of the number of titles available for a specific customer, based on copyright and publisher restrictions. However, there is only one collection in the Community Zone (i.e. the International Edition package), which would mean that the actual number of titles in that collection does not correctly reflect each international customer's subscribed and active…
1 voteHi,
ProQuest Ebook Central integration supports activating subscription content according to the customer ID – this functionality is available for early access customers and will be available for the wider community at a later release. If your institution will like to take part in the early access initiative please contact me directly

Allow overlap analysis for network zone collections
Many of our electronic collections are managed in the network zone, but we can't do any overlap analysis on these collections. Is it possible to expand the overlap analysis functionality to include network zone collections, and to compare them to either institution zone, network zone, or community zone collections?
3 votesThis functionality was introduced in the new Overlap Analysis tool that was released in March 2022 Alma Release. In the new Overlap Analysis tool, e.collections from the Network Zone can be selected for comparison.

Provide MARC record quality measures to CZ collections
CZ collections vary in regard to the quality of their metadata. Some CZ collections contain rich MARC records, while others contain very poor records. When facing the question whether to import vendor's MARC records or to rely on CZ records, librarians usually lack basic information about the quality of existing MARC records in a given CZ collection.
I would like to suggest that each CZ collection will include basic statistical information about the MARC records quality. Such information could be generated in different ways.
One possibility is to provide an analysis based on predefined quality profiles of MARC records. Here,…

Removing old collection/overlap analysis reports
It would be great if we could remove old collection/overlap analysis reports. There are a couple that we had run by accident or no longer need. we would like to keep this area of Alma neat.

Enable an ability to update electronic collection proxy link settings in a batch mode.
We are in the process of migrating from EZProxy to OpenAthens. We have over 500 electronic collections. Currently in our migration plan we will have to change the proxy setting one by one. It would be helpful to have a way to update the electronic collection proxy setting using some type of batch or programmatic (i.e. API) process.
3 votesHello Community,
Thanks for raising this idea.
This Idea exchange was developed and is available in Alma.
You can read about it in the Release notes:
For updating the Electronic Service Proxy Enables (Yes/No) and the Selected Proxy you can now use the following flow:

Add time to the ‘Submit date’ field in the CZ Updates Task List
In the CZ Updates Task List, portfolios can be added & deleted & it’s impossible to know which came first from the task list without leaving the screen you’re on. Having the time in the 'submit date' field would allow you to see if content that has been deleted (when it shouldn't have been) has been re-added. Otherwise, you have 2 entries for the same title in the task list and no idea of the order the instances occurred.

Don't dublicate identifiers in the KBART and the TXT schema
In cases where a record in Alma has only either 022a or 776x Alma puts the only ISSN in both printidentifer and onlineidentifier.
Reading a file that has the same ISSN in both printidentifier and onlineidentifier makes it hard to know if that ISSN is a print identifier or an online identifier.
80 votesIf a bibliographic record has either 022a or 776x Alma puts the only ISSN in both print_identifer and online_identifier (same for ISBN). This was fixed as part of the November release : e-issn is mapped to online identifier and print issn is mapped to print identifier
with no duplication.
The customer parameter ‘temp_kbart_identifier_export’ need to be true for this fix to be applicable.from now on when there is no Eisbn the isbn will not be exported to both columns

Electronic collection extended export file format change from xls to xlsx
the output of the 'edit service>portfolios>extended export' is currently xls (very old excel format) which has a huge inefficient file size and a technical limitation of 50,000 lines.
we would like the extended export output to be in the much newer, much more efficient XML based xlsx format, which has a much smaller file size to work with, while also providing many more lines - very useful for libraries with very large electronic collections that rely on this functionality.
137 votesWhen using the Extended Export option available under (Electronic Service Editor > Portfolios (tab) > Export (icon)), the output file is now upgraded to *.xlsx. This format enables users more options and improves efficiency.

update collections job
Allow Information Update for Electronic Collections. Sometimes, we need to add a public note to all of the collections that are tied to a specific interface, due to scheduled maintenance, or unexpected downtime. It would be great if we could add/remove these notes with a job. Some large providers, like Ebsco, Proquest, or Wiley can have over 15 collections we have to manually edit, which is a big time drain

Electronic portfolios in an electronic collection/packages should inherit data displays from the collection's service
Data elements that are set at a Electronic collection service level should cascade down and be applied/display at the electronic portfolio level.
While portfolios that are part of an electronic collection/package inherit the properties that are set at the service level, those inherited properties do not display in Alma in the individual portfolios. For example, the proxy value in the individual portfolios will always display in Alma as "No" even when the true value inherited from the electronic collection's service is "Yes." Similarly, a public or authentication note entered at the electronic collection or service level does not cascade down…43 votesAs part of Alma June release Advanced search query options were expanded to include Not Contains Keywords, Is Empty and Is Not Empty for electronic resources indexes.
