Include number of references in file view
Finding a reference is difficult in category view, please make it more easier to spot how many references a material is having when navigating to the contents of a folder or a section.
By having a reference number outside it will be easier to filter just by going through files without need to open then scroll all the way down to find it https://buyessays.us1 voteThe number of references in each folder is displayed next to the folder name. This feature was included in the Sept 2018 release.

Improve print/electronic differentiation in imported book references
The default setting for book imports is for electronic books and it is, in my experience, not apparent to users until an inaccurate bibliography is created.
Perhaps you could:
A) Change the default from electronic to print
B) Bring the 'this is an electronic resource' tick-box to the top of the screen when a user imports a book record.27 votesWe are happy to announce improvements were completed in January 2025 release.

RefWorks libguide - add information on RefWorks Citation Manager
The RefWorks Libguide only contains information on Write N Cite.
Please can information on RCM be added, in particular any instructions about software compatibility, especially with Macs?
We find this libguide essential to point students to for the current info on what is best for their computer.

Allow public sharing
Please allow public sharing of folders! Old RefWorks allowed us to create a link to a folder that we could then share with our users. This is especially important to us since this is how we share literature search results with our users - who are mostly not affiliated with universities and don't have RefWorks accounts.
39 votesHappy to update that public sharing was released in Feb. 2019.

Problems with entering date
When full dates are entered in long date format (i.e. February 3, 2018), a comma is being added after the day number in the APA Citation view (i.e. 2018, Feb 3,). However, it should be displayed without the final comma (i.e. 2018, Feb 3). Entering the date without a comma (i.e. February 3 2018) into the 'Publish Date' field seems to correct the issue, but does not match the format of date as suggested by the in-field tip (i.e. "Mar 12, 2015" or "2015").

Localised variations of referencing styles
Is there a way that our RefWorks accounts can link into the various styles of referencing used by various institutions in Ireland? Hospital staff attend courses in various 3rd level institutions throughout the country and the referencing styles used seem to have localised variations when compared to the styles listed in RefWorks.
1 voteThousands of CSL styles were added to RefWorks in the past year. In addition the Citation Style Editor may be used to customize styles and create new ones.

Improve to DeDuplicate of Non-English References
New RefWorks identifies some Japanese (or non-English) references as duplication even when they are not duplicated.
Improvement of DeDuplication for Non-English language references is expected.21 votesRefWorks is happy to announce we have launched improved deduplication feature in the November 2022 release. You may find more information here.

Citations need to be black
when copy the references from the bibliography, the references are "dark grey" instead of black. It makes it troublesome to go through all the references by hand, and highlight all the references and change it to black. This is because in some formats, it includes the URL, which should be in "blue". Therefore, it is quite annoying to do so, and quite honestly, defeats the purpose of having a reference manager.

Sort Folders Automatically by Alphabet
Please add a function/button that automatically and alphabetically sorts the folders. I understand that we can manually organize our folders, but with large libraries, an auto-sort feature will be a helpful and efficient feature.
51 votesI am happy to update that as of the June release, folders can be sorted alphabetically, in addition to customer sorting. Default sorting for new users and new projects will be alphabetical. Existing projects will maintain their custom sorting, and users can toggle to alphabetical sorting with the new sort button.

"Remove from folder" once you run the duplication checker
When users search multiple databases during the course of a project the chances are good that they'll need to de-duplicate a folder just in case they have multiple copies of the same citation. There is no option for users to "remove from folder" once they have run the duplication checker. More specifically, the option exists, but is greyed out and the user can't select the option.
Per ExLibris support: "The deduplication feature assumes a user will want to delete the duplicates and not just remove them from a folder so the remove from folder functionality is not available after running…

RefWorks Citation Manager - change default to last folder used instead of "all references"
The RefWorks Citation Manager add-in always defaults to the “All references” folder after choosing an action. For example, if I go to a different folder and choose to “Edit & Cite” for one of the citations, it then toggles back to the All references folder instead of staying in the folder I had been using. This requires me to keep re-selecting the folder where I had accumulated sources for a project.
For workflow, it would be useful to have RefWorks Citation Manager default to folder last used instead of to All References.

Document convert tool to match Legacy citations to new Refworks
For Word documents created with Write-N-Cite but linked to a legacy Refworks account, have a WnC conversion tool. It would match the citations in the document, to records in the New Refworks account. Auto-convert might not be possible without matching record IDs, but maybe field matching could offer a suggested match to "confirm" at each citation link in the MS Word document.
3 votesHello, we have released functionality to convert legacy citations to new RefWorks citation formats. You can learn more about it here. https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Knowledge_Articles/Tips_for_Upgrading_a_document_created_in_Legacy_RefWorks_for_use_in_New_RefWorks If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact Support.

Add Shibboleth Login to RCM Add-in
Add Shibboleth / Institutional sign-on / Federated Access to RCM Add-in for Word 2016.
At present Shibboleth / Institutional login is provided via the web interface, but not via the RCM Add-in. The only way to login is with the alternate password option set in RefWorks web user settings.

Don't automatically import subject headings as tags
Subject headings from Proquest and other databases are automatically imported as "tags." This clutters up the interface, and makes it hard for users to add their own tags.
71 votesI am happy to update that this was done as part of the September release. Users can select if to include tags when importing references or not. Read more here: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Release_Notes/RefWorks_Release_Information/070_2021_RefWorks_Release_Information

ISBN/ISSN, authors can be used to retrieve auto-cite metadata for manual input
More criteria are recommended for retrieving metadata for auto-cite. ISBN, ISSN and authors are common. This will empower the auto-cite capability and save a lot of time for the researchers.
9 votesI am happy to update that this was done as part of the September release. Users can find matches by ISBN and ISSN, in addition to Title and DOI. Read more here: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Release_Notes/RefWorks_Release_Information/070_2021_RefWorks_Release_Information

Export Tags
It is essential that RefWorks export "tag" metadata in its various export formats. I have been using RefWorks for years but am discontinuing my use of your product until tag data is exportable. Tag metadata is some of the most valuable data in the library of citations that I have amassed over the past four years, and because it is not currently exportable, it feels as if ProQuest is holding my data hostage. Exportable metadata is not merely a perk to be added to your service; it is a MAJOR structural flaw that needs to be addressed.
52 votesTags are now included in RefWorks data export.
