Provide a seamless, timely and automatic workflow for ingesting Jisc KB+ data into the Alma Community Zone.
We subscribe to the majority of our eresource content via nationally negotiated eresource deals (Jisc Collections, WHEEL). Jisc’s KB+ product (https://www.kbplus.ac.uk/kbplus/) maintains a knowledgebase which includes comprehensive title and package information for these EResources.
We would like ExLibris to harvest the KB+ title lists from the KB+ publicly accessible export page (https://www.kbplus.ac.uk/kbplus/publicExport) on a daily basis to ensure that all new and updated title lists in the Alma Community Zone are identical to the title lists in KB+.
We would like ExLibris to identify the KB+ title lists in the Alma Community Zone with a KB+ prefix.
We would like ExLibris to communicate any data discrepancies to designated KB+ staff so that title lists in the Alma Community Zone are identical to the KB+ title lists. They need to have exactly the same number of titles, including title name changes, etc. as per the verified lists in KB+.
We would like ExLibris to ensure that the update occurs on a daily basis so that changes in KB+ are available in the Alma Community Zone with the next update.
The workflow isn’t clear at the moment and ExLibris customers are spending too much time and effort in the Alma Community Zone trying to guess which collection to tick, raising Salesforce cases to get collections added/updated, waiting for months to see updates and managing local workarounds to deal with data inaccuracies. These issues result in time-intensive investigative work and exhaustive follow up emails in order to make the necessary amendments to the Community Zone. It is imperative that all paid for content is discoverable by our users, and the service provided is not compromised following the move to ALMA/Primo.
Hello all,
We are very happy to announce that we have released a game-changing API that we worked very closely with KB+ to develop. As part of this API the Ex Libris SFX and Alma products will have an automated process that identifies a new collection by KB+ and automatically creates this new collection in the system, as well as setting up the ongoing updates.
This development took us several months and extensive collaboration with the KB+ team. We have completed testing and plan to monitor this process over the coming months when new collections become available, with an expected turnaround of up to two weeks.
Best,
Rael

I can that this idea for a better ingesting of Jisc KB+ data into the Alma CZ has been Under Review for a while now. Is there maybe any update to provide?
Beside Jisc and our UK colleagues, I'm pretty sure that several customers using nationally negotiated eresource deals would be interested to know about improved processes for more seamless and automatic workflows between data providers and Alma CZ. -

I'd like to see the import of other data from KB+ (e.g. top level licence terms, annual inflation rates on multi-year deals, etc.) directly into ALMA - not just the Community Zone

Now, wouldn't that be something - a definite plus! Good luck.
