← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Dear support,

    we would like to have access to the next Heinonline databases:
    -Criminal Justice in America
    -International Law Association Reports
    -Revised Statutes of Canada
    -Statutes of the Realm Trends in Law Library
    Those databases/targets are not created; it would be good to create them.

    Please add portfolios to the LexisNexis Law Schools electronic collection in the Community Zone.

    (Note: this collection already exists in the Serials Solutions Knowledgebase, as LexisNexis Advance, with a title count of 15,431. Could the metadata be migrated to Alma, since both are now owned by ProQuest?).

    Currently there is a collection in PCI that gives access to the Westlaw Journals, but there is no collection for only Full text access (the current collection gives links to both full text and abstract). We would like a collection for Full text only.

    There are titles within the collection that are only available to non-UK customers. For UK customers linking to these titles, we experience broken links.

    We are already in works with our ProQuest colleagues to support this content in the optimal manner.
    There is no need to submit requests on the Idea Exchange for ProQuest content, as a Support Case would suffice.

    Westlaw UK is currently a 0 titles database in the Client Centre (Code AYDUG).

    Can the metadata be acquired from the provider and added to the index?

    CiNii Research is a japanese database managed by NII.
    https://support.nii.ac.jp/ja/cir/manual_outline

    This database includes not only literature, but also research data, project information, and so on.
    It would be helpful for researchers if Ex Libris discovery included CiNii Research as a search target.

    Naxos Music Library

    www.naxosmusiclibrary.com - Naxos is a prominent producer of classical music recordings. The online service (Naxos Music Library) offers the complete Naxos and Marco Polo catalogues, plus thousands of titles from other labels, including Chandos, BIS, Hungaroton, Hanssler, Bridge, First Edition, CPO, Coro, and Wergo.

    It would be great to add this database into SFX CKB/Alma. Many libraries with discovery services are purchasing this database, but if wish to link over their proxies it requires to link over a link resolvers.

    The Naxos Music Library collections are available in Alma and supported as a Database type collections.
    As soon as SFX can support Database type collections we will add these collections to the SFX KB as well.
