← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

If you want to add an institutional repository, please open a case and follow the documentation here:

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

**If you are a content provider, please review the submission guides for more information on how to reach out

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Add Infoteka collections migrating from East View to Alma CZ

We received a notice from East View that "select electronic resources previously provided by East View Information Services are migrating to a new database platform," Infoteka (https://infoteka.com/). Access to the new platform went live on May 15, 2026 and access to affected resources will no longer be available from East View beginning August 15, 2026. This impacts a number of Russian East View collections. I've attached a spreadsheet provided by East View of "UDB Platforms - Databases being removed from https://dlib.eastview.com." Could the Infoteka collections be added to the Alma CZ?

    Hello,

We are working with East View to streamline their planned platform change.

You can also track the updates in the Known Issues platform:

    https://supportcenter.clarivate.com/s/known-issues/knowledge-detail?language=en_US&recordId=kA2QO00000108Ej0AI

I will post here once the migration is completed.

    Kind regards,

    Tamar Ganor

  4. Add ISLaS+ database to Alma

ISLaS+ is a consortial ILS shared by most of Greek universities. In order to benefit from their metadata, it would be a great asset to integrate its database to the external ressources harvested by Alma. This would be especially useful for libraries with Moder Greek collections.

    Hello,

We will reach out and ask for the metadata for this collection.

If you could share a direct contact person with this project that would be very helpful.

    Thanks,

  11. Include contemporary internet slang and modern linguistics database from SlangPedia into CDI

As an academic researcher and library administrator, I would like to suggest integrating the linguistic data and modern culture resources from SlangPedia into the Ex Libris Central Discovery Index (CDI) and Knowledge Base. \n\nModern academic research, especially in fields like sociolinguistics, digital communication, and media studies, heavily relies on understanding evolving internet slang, social media terms (e.g., TikTok abbreviations), and text-based cultural shifts. SlangPedia provides a structured, well-explained index of these contemporary terms that would be highly valuable for university students and researchers studying modern language patterns. \n\nIntegrating this resource will enhance the discoverability of open-access linguistic reference sources. 12. Sidestone Press : Open Access and freely available E-Books

The books from the publisher Sidestone Press can be read on its website for free immediately upon publication. Furthermore according to their Open Access model, the publisher makes their books available for free download 4 years after publication.
Their catalogue contains ca. 450 titles and 40-60 new books are published each year.

Based on a request from a reference librarian, I ask you to get in contact with Sidestone press and check whether these freely and Open Access titles can be added as a collection in the CZ.

  16. BoardGameGeek data

BoardGameGeek is a repository of all board games and many video games (this section is slowly growing) that have been published and released, and many of these are available in many of our libraries. This site has cover images, details about publication dates, etc, and sometimes even instruction manuals.

An API is available here for the "things" (what they call the games/etc)
