  1. Add sorting functionality to the Summon Course Reserves Citation List Display

When Alma Course Reserves lists are displayed in Summon, there does not appear to be any order to the citations listed, making it very hard for patrons to find the citation they are looking for in that course. We would like to see the option added to determine the default sort of the display (alphabetical by title, alphabetical by author, date added, etc) AND the ability for users to resort the list themselves if the default sorting doesn't suit their needs.

  2. Allow publishers ability to search their content in Summon

Publishers whose content is uploaded into Summon should be able to view how these records look from a librarian's perspective. Can a publisher receive some sort of admin account for this? This would make answering our accounts' questions about our records much simpler.

  3. Filter search results in the Ebook and Journal portal (EJP)

The EJP is a good way to find full text journals by subject area, however, once you have searched or browsed to a subject, there is no way to narrow your search any further except to show only open access titles. It would be helpful to restrict results to recent books or journals with current access, or to peer-reviewed sources, for example.

  4. Add more journal platforms (American College of Physicians) to Resource Link Prioritization List in Summon

This could go with other journal titles as well. Our institution subscribed to 2 titles through American College of Physicians with pretty extensive holdings. The titles can also be found via our subscription to ProQuest, but with more limited holdings. When users search for a title in Summon, they will only see the ProQuest holdings and then be told we do not carry the resource. I think adding more individual platforms to Resource Link Prioritization list will fix this. Thanks!

  5. Label Kind of Open Access item linked to

Identify the kind of open access version being linked to -- preprint author submitted copy, same-as-published, post-print, etc. While it may not always matter if the open version of a published work is the same as the peer-reviewed, published version, when it does matter, it can be critical -- especially in health sciences. But it's also important for novice researchers to understand what is "almost published" and what was actually reviewed and published.

  6. Yordam automatic content update at Summon

This is a request to have the possibility to automatically download/upload local content from Yordam to Summon rather than the librarians upload the files manually to Summon FTP. This can be done by a script and for some OPAC, this is already happening e.g, SirsiDynix automatically uploads at Summon. Can this automation be also done for Yordam?

  7. add subject and abstracts columns in the upload template

we have some library specific databases for information not available yet (no agreements with the publisher etc.). The titles in these databases have no subject or abstract information. It would be great when this information could be added. (add subject and abstracts columns in the upload template)

  8. Show unreceived orders in Summon

At the moment, items ordered in Alma are not displayed in Summon until they have been received by the library. We need lecturers and students to be able to follow the progress of requests they have made or check whether we have already ordered a book before requesting it.

Alma sends to Summon the following Availability information:
The status field ( AVA subfield code e) is used to display availability in Summon:

  9. Have the ability to change from OR to AND in the list of subjects

Right now, unless something has changed, when we use the Subjects list to apply additional terms, the OR statement is automatic and there is no alternative. However, that is not necessarily how a student thinks when selecting Subjects. There are many times one will want to have more than one subject term added to the search with an AND statement.

So, for example, if I am looking at "emergency nursing" and I see in the subjects list "hospitals" and "health policy & services" I may want both terms in my search not either.

If it's doable, it would be nice…

  10. searching az list click on database - no list of your titles

we now use SFX and on the a z-list, our users can click on vendor (= database name) and then see all titles within this selection. pe click on sage and then see all your active sage titles.
We will shortly switch to 360 core client centre (and stop with sfx) We now do not see on the front on the new a-z list ejournals this functionality.
    Our users miss this

  11. Be able to access usage statistics without needing the Discovery Admin role.

It would be good if Library Staff members, who are not system administrators, to have the ability to go into Summon's Usage analytics without needing the Discovery Admin role and access to the Summon Admin Console.

  12. We'd like the ability to add additional status options for databases in the data management module, for example, open access.

Subscribed often means resources we pay for, it would be nice to be able to set an item status for databases that we obtain freely (open access) so we can better audit the systems.

  13. fuzzy keyword search in the E-Journal Portal (AZ List)

Our patrons do not always know the exact name or spelling of a journal or how to use an asterisk.

We think the E-Journal Portal search box should support fuzzy keyword searching.

  15. Do not allow eBook and Computer File records to match and merge with each other

There are CDI records, largely listed as eBooks but they seem to be merging with other catalog records with the 'Computer File' content type.

The result is that e-books are displayed as computer files via the filter.

This is confusing for users, and the merges may be causing more frustration than good.

  17. A more user-friendly way to manage Library Specific Holdings for our print serial

We would like to see a more user-friendly way to manage Library Specific Holdings for our print serials. Often, our holdings are not continuous; we have gaps in coverage. The only way to add additional dates of coverage is to "Add title" for each date range. 360 then merges the multiple date ranges into one serial record. Having the ability to manage multiple date ranges within one record would be helpful. This system limitation also affects editing. Right now, if you need to edit date ranges for one of these serials, you are only given the option to edit one…

  18. 360 Usage Statistics

For 360 Usage Statistics report, there is no separate data for every month, it is just an overall number of the year.

We would like to have the data of every month like SFX analytics.

  20. Mandatory e-mail field

In summon you can email records / titles, from your search results to others via the small feature in the top right corner. Unfortunately, it is not a requirement that the sender of the email is obligatory to fill in the sender field. In principle, you can email posts / titles with associated messages in the note field anonymously - which makes correspondence difficult.
