Stop indexing Ebsco "abstract" results so they no longer appear in Summon "Full-Text" Results with broken links
One persistent problem we have between Summon and EBSCO is abstracts indexed as articles in Summon. Some journals index these abstracts as individual titles, which is why they get pulled into Summon as standalone full text articles, but EBSCO (which is where we have full text) does not index them at all. So not only does the openURL break, if you search for them in EBSCO you often get zero hits. Since we have so much full text in EBSCO, this accounts for a good many of our bad urls in Summon and it is frustrating and confusing for librarians…

Partial Summon data loads should be ingested into the index within one to two days
Instead of waiting for a weekend data load to be indexed live on Friday and weekday loads to be indexed live on wednesday, it would be best to have all partial data loads added to the index within 1 to 2 days of submission.

Add DOI registered by other registration agencies than CrossRef to "Citation Trail".
It seems that recent "Citation trail" is referring DOI registered by CrossRef.
But there are many publishers and universities in the world which use DOI registered by other registration agencies like JaLC, KISTI, CNKI and so on. It would be beneficial for Summon users in the world if it could be realized.37 votes -
Books that have popular alternative titles (i.e. 'Civil Procedure' = 'The White Book') should be searchable under those titles
Books that have popular alternative titles (i.e. 'Civil Procedure' = 'The White Book' in most law libraries) should be searchable under those titles. At the very least Summon should prioritise the 246 alternate title field more than it currently does.

Keeping stop words as part of phrase searching
Currently, there is a limitation to phrase searching in that if a stop word appears at the end of a phrase it is dropped. This has greatly affected gender studies researchers specifically, in that the phrase "coming out" is unable to be searched - as "out" is considered a stop word in English. If a researcher is conducting a phrase search, what is included within the quotations should be searched. The idea is that phrase searching should conduct searches on what is within paragraphs regardless of stop words.

Define content types non-exclusively
Define content types non-exclusively, i.e., allow multiple content type definitions to apply to a single resource -- for example, the same resource might be both a "catalog" and a "book." Defining it as a "catalog" should not mean it is excluded in a search limited to "books."

Make it a higher priority to work with Ebook Central on deduplication, titles missing from Summon etc.
Some Ebook Central titles do not appear in Summon, while others appear multiple times. Some are not linked with the library's print title. Work with Ebook Central to reduce the incidence of these errors.

Do not allow Book Chapter and Journal Article records to match and merge with each other
When the Book Chapter facet is applied, in multiple searches the majority of top results listed appear as Journal Article format. My understanding is that this is because Journal Articles an Book Chapters are allowed to match and merge, specifically in order to allow merging of serial monographs. However, many of the top results do not appear to be serial monographs, but actual journal articles. This is confusing for users, and the merges may be causing more frustration than good.

Content Ingestion report - internal processing error
I think it would be useful if the record ID was included in this report so that we know which records are missing from summon.
At present this just seems like a black box; we have no idea what the problem is, how it is resolved and when/if it is resolved.7 votes -
Prioritise published articles over repository content
Where there is a published version of an article in a journal and the same article in our open access repository, we would like Summon to put the published version first in the search results.
This request has come from our academics who are concerned that people are choosing the top result (the pre-publication version in our repository) and missing the published version. This is particularly a problem when the repository version is only available on request or has limited access.

Make Unpaywall a trackable database in Summon
Include Unpaywall as a standalone, discoverable and trackable database within the client centre. This would then remove the dependency on other databases that include OA content having been tracked in the Client Centre from Unpaywall linking and, therefore, discoverability in Summon.

Allow merging of duplicate metadata records for newspaper articles prior to January 1, 2000.
I reported a case of 12 metadata records for the same NYT newspaper article. Search: "carmichael oregon high desert"
This was the response from support:
Records with the resource type "newspaper articles" from before January 1, 2000 - CANNOT MERGE.
Unfortunately it seems that CDI is currently not designed to provide the functionality described.
The next step is to pursue this as an enhancement.3 votes -

Match & Merge Duplicates in Video Type
Match & Merge duplicates in the video Type. They don't do it because "there hasn't been much duplication in video." Well, we have some and they won't merge them. Ideally we should have no duplicates in any type.

Accurate date of publication
Some times we have unclear publication date for a book, and in such case, we set eg.[19--] at 260$c in Alma.
Summon calculates it to 1900 and displays it at result page. We would like to display it as 260$c without no change.
Also eg.[201-] and Kanji notation [明治頃] as well.Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Configuring a ‘Collection Discovery’ search in Summon
Unlike Primo customers, Summon users cannot navigate to the Collections Lobby to find items available as part of Alma Collections unless they click into the details page of a record and scroll down to the bottom where they are presented with the ‘see more from *** collection’. A simple search in Summon is searching within everything we have in Alma (and published to Summon) - so individual titles are appearing in the results. But the collection names are not searchable. Summon is not able to provide a similar "Collection Discovery" search to Primo. Summon' s design is not based on…
