  1. Merge reading lists in Leganto

Being able to easily merge content from different list to one list - without Section text/info and notes. E.g. relevant if you want to get a complete picture of all of the literature being used a one semester/programme

  2. Improving the in-list searching in Leganto

When searching for a specific citation in Leganto, there are instances where no results are returned. We recently noticed this happening if the search is mis-spelled, shortened or if a special character is used. This happens even if the special character is in the title of the item.
It appears to be a very specific search, almost working like a Ctrl+F function rather than being flexible. We use the in-list search function a lot, so it would be great if this could be more flexible to allow for these types of instances.

  3. Preferred language set for both Alma and Leganto

Leganto is a patron-facing system and is translated to several different languages. Alma is a back-office system for librarians and are not translated as such.

In Leganto you can select the interface language. This changes the preferred language setting on the user-profile in Alma as well. We can see the change in the history-tab on the user-profile.

The issue is that if the language is set to a language other than english, parts of Alma displays translated values (I assume values that are used in patron facing elements) while other parts are not translated. E.g. a mix of Norwegian and…

  4. Display the "Resource Sharing Request" in a Network environment

We belong to a Network. In Leganto we can configure the search and add citations using the Network scope. In this case, when the teacher adds citations from records that belong to another member of the network in Leganto, in the citation availability space, no option is shown. We would like it to show
the "Resource Sharing Request" just like in the Primo interface.

  5. Ability to upload citations to multiple lists in bulk

We would like to include a citation on all of our reading lists for the Cite them right database, as it would be useful for students. We would like to add the citation to multiple lists in one action rather than doing it individually but there doesn't seem to be a way of doing this.

  6. Shareable link function in the Leganto file viewer

In the Leganto PDF viewer there is no option to create a shareable link to the citation.

Problem: The educator or another student wants to share a link direct to the viewer (e.g. Hi students, add your comments on this file), they can only get the URL from the browser address bar. This URL does not support SAML authentication. They do not understand the implications of doing this, and will not go back to the other tab to get a shareable link - indeed they may have closed the other tab.

    1. User may end up at the Leganto authentication page…

  7. Broken link/problem files resolution inside NUI

I see there is consultation arising from NERS results about the broken link report emails (to library, an alert that a report has been made and to users, a resolution notice).

It made me think there is an opportunity in the new UI to streamline the link/file fixing process.

    • When a library team member is signed in to Leganto could broken links/problem file reports be indicated in the notifications area to identify affected lists - not just the assigned librarian, but any library team member with course reserves roles?
    • Could an affected citation have a indicator appear to identify which…

  8. Zotero/Mendeley import: display position in list

In the results list of “Search the library”, the current position in the list is indicated, e.g. “Showing 20 out of 311,444 results”. In the results list of “Import references from Mendeley” and “Import references from Zotero, however, this information is not displayed. We would appreciate if the position would be indicated in these lists, too. Relevant Support Case: 07013368

  9. Allow welcome title/description on Quick Start - New UI

We think it would be useful to have the option to add a brief welcome title/description to the quick start screen in the New UI.

Our users access from the LMS and many of our instructors have found this helpful in the classic UI, since they wouldn't otherwise be sure of what Leganto is/that it communicates with the library.

The New UI quick start screen also seems to look a bit spare without it, and we are afraid new faculty might click on it and click away without interest, without an identifying welcome title.

  10. Search function for Other Formats and Edition

We want the 'Other Format and Editions' section to have a search function so that our librarian can add specific other titles to a citation. Currently, we catalogue records for e-books and physical items separately. This means that the other format and edition does not always find appropriate matches. We have listened to the response in our other Ideas Exchange request and responded, and using ISBN doesn't always work. Furthermore, this adds items to related records, not to 'other formats and editions.' Therefore it would be much easier to have a search function within this section to pick which items…

  11. Course display - current number of enrolled students

The "Number of participants" field is meant to be a place where library staff can enter how many students are expected to be in a course. However, that field doesn't update unless staff manually update it. For libraries loading course enrollments, the actual number can change day to day.

It is possible to find the current number of students in a course if you enable the 'Students' tab for the course display in Alma. However, some libraries may not want to make student enrollment information available to everyone who has an Alma login.

It would be helpful if the current…

  12. popular reading lists

We currently have old lists showing on our popular reading list section. We would like to be able to remove these from the list. Either by changing the configuration of how the list is created or being able to pick which lists are in the popular list.

  13. Leganto integration with MS Teams

With the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, online learning has increased dramatically at our institution. Many instructors use Microsoft Teams for teaching, document sharing and communication with their students and spend most of their working days in their “permanent MS Teams classrooms”. It will be beneficial to, besides having Leganto available in the LMS and embedding a sharable Leganto reading list link in MS Teams, to have Leganto available as an app to add as a tab to the Teams the instructors have built for their courses. See screen capture attached.

  14. Add option for Leganto Detailed Notifications Letter to be "opt in" by default

    Hello,

We had the Leganto Detailed Notifications Letter switched on, but because there is no option currently for this to be "opt in" by default rather than "opt out" by default, we have had to switch it off again. We are only in our pilot phase so may consider switching the Letter back on later when most of our staff are using Leganto RLs. But for now it's not ideal for all instructors to get notifications when they aren't using Leganto.

We don't have control over how many instructors are attached to our courses, and because of the way courses…

  15. Allow multiple tags to be added to a Leganto Questions response

Currently you can only add one tag per response to a Leganto Question. We would like to be able to add multiple tags per response to improve messaging for our users.

As an example, we use Leganto Questions to ask if a print book is key/essential reading, and add a "Key reading" tag if it is. If a print book is key reading on a list we will also start a process to buy an ebook, and we'd like to add a second tag to reflect this.

This change would help academic staff to see which items on a list…

  16. Add ability to sort/filter citations by date created/modified in Leganto

In Alma we can sort and filter citations on a reading list by date but it isn't currently possible to do this in Leganto.

We only check new citations on reading lists when reviewing, and use the Leganto interface to do our checks. This means staff have to sort and filter the list in Alma and then click "View in Leganto" one at a time, which isn’t an efficient use of staff time and can be frustrating on long lists with many new citations.

We would like the option to view the citations on a list by date last modified…

  17. Publish_default_mode needs to developed to allow different processes dependent on set criteria

Situation - Currently we are trying to make the majority of our reading lists open access. However, due to departmental and copyright issues. We cant make all lists open access. Therefore, we currently have Publishdefaultmode set to All Students Full. Which means staff manually run sets on a daily basis to find readings lists that have been published and are not from two specific academic departments and run a bulk reading list job to change them to All Students Full, Anyone Restricted.

Solution. We would prefer that the Publishdefaultmode is enhanced to publish lists with different…

  18. More control over the description field for rollover lists

Some of our institutions have used the list description field to write year-specific information. This is an issue when the list is rolled over and the information for the previous semester is still visible.

We would want to have more control over the description field, especially when it comes to rolled over lists but not only. Therefore we would like the possibility to choose in the rollover setup if the description field should be copied to the new list or not, and in addition the possibility to run a bulk job to delete the content of the description field on…

  19. Allow courses to be marked as not requiring a reading list - in bulk

The NERS 2022 enhancement #7744 delivered in Jan 2023 allowed individual courses in Alma to be marked as not requiring a reading list. However it did not allow for any bulk method of marking courses as not requiring reading lists.

It would be a distinct advantage for good and accurate administration of course details to allow for bulk methods of marking courses appearing in Alma as not requiring reading lists.

This could be achieved in multiple ways for example via bulk options from the Courses search, or via the Course Bulk Update, but the need is to be able to…

  20. Section details visible and editable in Alma, also for citation-free reading lists

Librarians should be able to view and edit section details in Alma, the same way they can in Leganto.

Sometimes instructors fill the section's description field with a citation or the list itself, which librarians working exclusively in Alma won't notice. Worse, if the list doesn't have any actual citation (even though the instructor might think they have added them), the section description field won't show and potential mistakes won't necessarily be discovered and fixed.

In other words, we would like both the section title and section description fields to be visible and editable in Alma when these fields are…
