How can we improve Leganto?

  1. Display the "Resource Sharing Request" in a Network environment

    We belong to a Network. In Leganto we can configure the search and add citations using the Network scope. In this case, when the teacher adds citations from records that belong to another member of the network in Leganto, in the citation availability space, no option is shown. We would like it to show
    the "Resource Sharing Request" just like in the Primo interface.

  2. Ability to upload citations to multiple lists in bulk

    We would like to include a citation on all of our reading lists for the Cite them right database, as it would be useful for students. We would like to add the citation to multiple lists in one action rather than doing it individually but there doesn't seem to be a way of doing this.

  3. Enable embedded videos for assignments and class discussions

    (I'm not sure if this comes under the roadmap item "Support websites for Read and Respond assignments and Social Reading" or if it would be additional work.)

    Currently instructors use a third-party tool where they can paste in a YouTube video link and the video is embedded in a page where students can add comments at relevant points. (So comments are associated with a timestamp.)   4. Shareable link function in the Leganto file viewer

    In the Leganto PDF viewer there is no option to create a shareable link to the citation.

    Problem: The educator or another student wants to share a link direct to the viewer (e.g. Hi students, add your comments on this file), they can only get the URL from the browser address bar. This URL does not support SAML authentication. They do not understand the implications of doing this, and will not go back to the other tab to get a shareable link - indeed they may have closed the other tab.

  5. Broken link/problem files resolution inside NUI

    I see there is consultation arising from NERS results about the broken link report emails (to library, an alert that a report has been made and to users, a resolution notice).

    It made me think there is an opportunity in the new UI to streamline the link/file fixing process.

    • When a library team member is signed in to Leganto could broken links/problem file reports be indicated in the notifications area to identify affected lists - not just the assigned librarian, but any library team member with course reserves roles?

  6. More file type options for Reading List bulk export

    At the moment it's possible to bulk export Reading Lists by running the job called 'Reading List Bulk Update' and selecting 'Export to PDF'.

    Would be beneficial if we can export to other types such as .lgn or .ris. As those files would serve better as 'baclups' and can also be imported back into Leganto

  7. Option to associate multiple courses for instructor rollover

    Currently, instructors can only associate more than one course to a list after the list has been initially rolled over. To improve this, please add an option to associate multiple courses before the list is rolled over. This is available in the course loader integration for rollovers, so it should be available for instructor rollovers as well.   9. Public annotations toggle - change default to 'off'

    When allowcitationpublic_annotation = true the toggle 'Public Annotations on/off' is displayed (good).
    Unfortunately it's also set to 'on' by default which makes plublic annotations by students possible without the list creator intending this (not good).

    Features like this should be opt-in, not activated by default.
    We are asking for the default setting to be changed to 'off'.

  10. find list setting in new UI

    Find list settings allow librarians to customize the basic and advanced search interfaces in Leganto but it is not available in the new UI. It would be very useful to replicate this function in the new UI interface.

  11. Multi-site list alerts for print items

    We have 7 physical locations 6 of which have print items. We want to set up Leganto to automatically complete physical inventory when added by an instructor as we do not have a "course reserve" workflow or short loan process. In other words, if an instructor adds print to their reading list we are happy that it can be accessed by the students on the open shelves.

    However, we are aware that instructors could add physical inventory that is located at one site for a course that is being delivered at another. We do not do inter-site lending even between…

  12. Ask the library for a digital copy form

    Currently it's configured that or the field "Chapters" or the field "Pages from - Pages to" is mandatory.
    We would like to have the fields "Pages from - Pages to" to be mandatory even if the field "Chapters" is filled in by the user.

  13. allow public annotations by instructor to rollover

    instructors use the "class discussion" tab to highlight and annotate certain important sections of a text, however when they reading list is rolled over to another term or course, all the annotations are lost. The instructor does not want to add them in every year.

  14. Automatic refresh on embedded reading list / citation (on Canvas) when updated in Leganto

    When a citation is updated for an already published reading list, which is embedded in the LMS (Canvas) as a Reading List or embedded item, the Canvas citation isn't updated. This means the citations aren't updated in Canvas. This should be automatically refreshed if the citation is updated.

  15. Allow institutions to configure the order of list creation options on the LMS quick start screen

    (NOTE: This idea is piggybacking off of LENH-I-6142, an enhancement request submitted by Kingston University in London, which did not receive enough votes in Round 1 to be sent to Ex Libris).

  16. Student view – make additional action icons available for items, e.g. quick cite

    Currently the share icon is the only 'action' that is visible in the list alongside the citation. Other actions can only be accessed via the citation menu.

    This is inconsistent with the UI in Primo where students can access several actions using icons which appear alongside the item. We believe that the user experience of both systems would be improved by greater consistency in how this functionality is accessed by exposing more of the actions in the citation menu as icons in Leganto.

  18. Publish_default_mode needs to developed to allow different processes dependent on set criteria

    Situation - Currently we are trying to make the majority of our reading lists open access. However, due to departmental and copyright issues. We cant make all lists open access. Therefore, we currently have Publishdefaultmode set to All Students Full. Which means staff manually run sets on a daily basis to find readings lists that have been published and are not from two specific academic departments and run a bulk reading list job to change them to All Students Full, Anyone Restricted.

  19. More control over the description field for rollover lists

    Some of our institutions have used the list description field to write year-specific information. This is an issue when the list is rolled over and the information for the previous semester is still visible.

    We would want to have more control over the description field, especially when it comes to rolled over lists but not only.   20. Improved analytics reporting for new LTI functionality

    Since upgrading to the new v1.3 of the LTI we are encouraging instructors to make use of the new functionality in the VLE such as embedding citation metadata or links to specific parts of reading lists.

    Anecdotally we know that our instructors are using and enjoying these new features. However, we'd like to be able report on and demonstrate the impact of this.

    Could the Student Usage area of analytics be developed to be able to report on how many click throughs from, for example, embedded citations or embedded links there are from VLE to Leganto?
