  1. Allow to embed the reading list page main content area to another webpage

We wish to have a way to embed the reading list page main content area (as attached) to another webpage. Because our library has a webpage for recommended books, and wants to show the reading list embedded in that webpage.

    Thank you

  2. Have a separate citation material type list for manually created citation

The full list contains 55 citation material types. If we disable some of them, then material type may show strange code like "READINGLISTCITATIONSECONDARYTYPES.REFERENCE_ENTRY" (assuming we have disabled the Reference Entry code).

But if we enable all of them, the list is too long for the Faculty to select when they create their own citation. Also Faculty do not have necessary knowledge to classify for each type. We expect it just a list of less than 10 items, say "Printed Books", "Printed Journal", "E-resources", etc.

In fact the citation type can be a very useful information in our workflow such that…

  3. Automatically checking if a newer edition exists

When instructors create reading lists, they're often interested in the newest edition of a book, but may not be aware that a newer edition exist.
If they're library doesn't have it or (when searching in a broader scope) if no one in the consortium has catalogued it yet, they won't find it.
In any case, automatically checking if such an edition exist would be a nice feature.

  4. Update the citation field labels when resource types other than Book or Journals are selected

Currently when a user selects citation types for video or audio etc, the field labels are not updated to match accordingly.

Mapping of fields such as that used in reference managers like Endnote would help for better display to students, and help instructors to enter appropriate metadata. eg. For a video in the more details section the labels mention pages. "Total pages" could be relabelled as "Running Time".

  5. Resource locate to default to "OR"

It would be useful if "Locate Citation by Fields" could be configured so that only one enabled field needs to have an exact match, i.e. the resource locate defaults to "OR" rather than "AND" where more than one citation metadata field is populated.

This would allow citations to be matched where a title is misspelled, but an ISBN is correct, or vice versa.

  6. Alerts

We would prefer a shorter way to view citation notes within Alma, either by clicking on a note within the overview (see attachment ‘Citation note’) or by display of details (‘the note’) within the overview. Now we have to go to Edit > Notes to see the requests/remarks that are essential for our services to instructors.

  7. Filters/sorting/duplicates

    Filters/sorting/duplicates

It is possible to look for citations within Alma’s persistent searchbox, but we would prefer a sorting function (A-Z) or a searchbox within a list. This would help looking for a citation while staying in a readinglist. Furthermore, it would help to detect unintended duplicates which have been added from, for example, ‘My Collection’ AND Repository Search AND Zotero. Or is it possible to mark duplicated citations?

  8. Pop up to associate a duplicated with original course or updated course for a different academic year

A newly duplicated reading list remains attached to the same course as the original from which the duplicated reading list was made. We would expect that when a list has been duplicated a prompt box is generated which gives the user the option to associate the reading list with the original course or re-associate it with an updated course for a different academic year.

    User story

As an academic I would like to duplicate the current year's reading list which is attached to a course for 2016/17 and create a reading list for 2017/18. Within this list duplication process I…

  9. When adding citations to a list via search, prioritize latest edition and owned item first

Sometimes instructors perform a citation search in Leganto and just add the first result that comes up in the search results; often this is actually a book review or other format that isn't logical for reserves. Additionally, most instructors are searching and expecting the latest edition to appear first in the list. Other faculty from certain departments want to choose a particular edition, and so need edition information prominently surfaced in the search result.

This results in processing delays as staff must check with instructors to clarify what items they really intended to place on reserve.

    One possible solution may…

  10. Analytics – allow student usage to be measured by any specified date range

We would like to be able to specify any date range (e.g. 1-30/09/2018) for this Student Usage Subject Area. Currently in Alma/Leganto Analytics, student usage statistics can only be measured by week (starting on Mondays). The enhancement would give us more flexibility in reporting to senior management. This also helps us to align/merge student usage reports with reports from other subject areas (or other systems such as Moodle, Google Analytics), which are not restricted to weeks.

Other scenarios where this enhancement would help:
    - Monthly/yearly reports
    - Reports to compare usage before/after functionality/configuration/workflow changes on a specific day

  11. Leganto navbar (add 'useful links' to the top of the Leganto User Interface)

The navigation bar (banner/header) in the Leganto User Interface currently does not have the functionality to add 'useful links/URLs (like it does in Primo VE e.g. header links to a 'new search', 'library homepage', 'help', etc.) to it. The ability to add URLs/links to the navigation bar would allow our patrons to access institution specific materials/webpages, such as, user manuals, copyright information, Library homepage, Primo VE, etc..

  12. Avoid session timeout for guests users

For the public find list page, in Guest mode, after timeout, it will redirect to the Leganto local login screen which is strange and user does not know what this is. We have raised SF 00647401 and ExLibris agreed to fix in Alma July release that it will redirect to the SAML login screen which looks more familiar to our user.

But actually ultimately what we want is NO session timeout for guest users. As no login in the first place, there is no need of "session timeout".

    Thank you

  13. Export to Excel - Remove "Citation" from each column

We want to suggest a slight modification of the export to Excel.

As you can see on the attached screenshot, the title for each column is preceded by Referanse/Citation.
    Ex:
Citation Volume | Citation Issue | Citation pages | Citation start page and so on.

The document would be easier to read, and thus more user friendly without the extra "citation" text.

  14. Creating section for citation without delete and recreate via API

Currently, it is not possible to create section_info information if citation is already exists. It must be delete the original citation and create new citation with updated section_info.

It is better to allow update of section_info directly without delete and recreate the same citation.

  15. Removal of standard blank template and ability to create a default institution template which cannot be deleted

We would like to remove or hide the standard out of the box blank template and have a standard institutional template which cannot be deleted or customized. This would ensure that reading lists created by instructors are of the same standard.

  16. Sections

We prefer the option to add sections or move citations to different sections within Alma. The assigned section is shown for each citation in the overview of the Readinglist (see attachment ‘Section Alma’) but it only possible to change a section by drag&drop in Leganto. This is less convenient for librarians when we create or change a list on behalf of an instructor (and work from Alma). For lists that have a lot of sections and citations, the moving of citations in Leganto is also not the most user-friendly way (and the most secure way – a citation is easily…

  17. Changing a name on a reading list in Leganto can not be saved when Alma is open

When changing the title of a reading list in Leganto it is changed back after a short while. We have found a way around it with having Alma closed when updating the title in Leganto.

We would like to be able to change the name in Leganto without having to close Alma for it to be saved.

    Example:

  18. Citation – Bibliographic record overlay enhancement request

    Request:
As a Library Staff member, I would like functionality that allows me to enhance the bibliographic information in Leganto citations by identifying, retrieving, and overlaying institutional bibliographic records. I would want this functionality to be added to the Leganto interface to allow me to process a list entirely within this environment.

We are aware of the “process and enrich citations job”. However, this job can be disruptive to citations where we are not supplying access via institutional holdings. We also want the ability to resolve bibliographic issues with citation on a case-by-case basis.

    Situation:
    When a citation has been…

  19. Reject input if DOI or citation source URL is incorrectly formatted (Leganto instructor UI)

We have seen many instructors create citations manually (rather than using Cite It) with the DOI formatted as a full URL (e.g. "https://doi.org/10.1111/misp.12056" rather than just "10.1111/misp.12056"). This prevents the citation from resolving and linking to the resource as expected.

Similarly, some users will add the citation source URL without the "https://" prefix, or with other formatting issues which prevent it from linking as expected.

A simple fix for this issue would be for Leganto to detect incorrectly formatted DOIs or URLs and to reject input, displaying a tooltip to inform the user of the correct…

  20. Identify and combine related editions in Leganto

Problem: A lack of FRBRisation in bibliographic records in Alma means that in Leganto different formats of the same title can only be offered on individual citations, i.e. the print edition will be one
citation, and the eBook will be on another citation. We want to be able to offer all available formats of a title to our students.

Impact: Without the ability to combine citations of the print and electronic version of the same title, they currently appear as if they are two required readings (see attachment 1).

The lack of ability to combine multiple versions of the same…
