  2. Add instructors automatically using role in LTI launch request

A course can have a number of instructors teaching on it, and it might be difficult to keep the details of the instructors of courses and owners of reading lists up to date in Alma.

Rather than having to update these details manually, or pre-load them using the Course loading integration profile, I suggest that there is an option for the LTI Integration profile to automatically assign an instructor of a course and owner of the associated reading lists, if the user in the LTI launch request has a role of "instructor."

Even better if the Alma "Instructor" role could…

  3. Ability to Re-Associate Reading List with new Course after copyright records and completed citations are present in the List

It would be very useful to be allowed to re-associate and incorrectly associated reading list with the correct course in Alma after work has begun processing the citations inside the Reading List.

When an Academic associates their Legato Reading list to a Course, in some cases this is done incorrectly and assigned to the wrong course, which needs correcting. It is currently not possible to simply re-associate a Reading List to a new Course if work on that reading list has started, and there are completed Citations with Copyright Records.

The only workaround at present is to change a value…

  5. Locked lists should be enabled for rollover and duplication in Leganto

At present when a reading list is locked it cannot be duplicated or rolled over by a user in Leganto.

We lock lists to preserve them in accordance with University policy on retention of learning materials at the end of each semester.
Instructors may want to go back to older lists to create new ones. To do so they have to contact the Library if they want to duplicate or rollover a list from a previous semester.

Locking a list should only prevent that list from being changed. It should not prevent someone from using it to create a new…

  6. Support http protocol in reading list and section description fields

At the moment URLs in the description fields of reading lists and sections are handled as plain text whereas URLs in public notes are automatically recognized as links and behave as such.
We'd like to see this functionality for all text fields in the Leganto UI. URLs should always be clickable links.

  7. Retain permalinks after rollover

We would like a parameter that on rollover, the 'old' reading list will be associated with the new course, so that existing permalinks will not require updating.

We have not used the rollover function because we are concerned of the impact on the permalinks created by our instructors to lists, sections and citations in our new VLE.

  8. Avoid 'Multiple Resources Located' on resource locate for related records

If we have both print and ebook versions of a title then there will be two separate bibliographic records, both of which should have the alternate format ISBN added to the 020 $$z field (so that a relationship is formed).

Because both records have the same ISBN, the citation will display as 'Multiple Resources Located' if added via Cite It. This requires a member of library staff to manually intervene and select one of the records to Resource Locate. This is an unnecessary additional step, as availability for both related records should be shown in Leganto anyway.

    Could Resource Locate…

  9. Ability to search for and delete Courses that do not have a Reading List attached

To ensure that the LTI link works between our LMS and Alma we have to create a Course Record for all units that utilise the LMS. This results in thousands of Course Records being created in Alma each semester. However since not all units in the LMS use a Reading List only a fraction of these Course Records eventually have a Reading List attached. Therefore we have a lot of empty Course Records in Alma cluttering up the Course area in Alma and resulting in some confusion for Library staff in identifying active, current courses.

    This problem will only continue…

  10. Leganto Instructor Rollover - Allow Library Internal Notes to be copied to the rolled over list

As library staff, I would like the Library Internal Notes to be copied to the rolled over list, so that I can keep the information I recorded in original list.

Internal Notes for a Citation or a Reading List may include:
    - special copyright/license information,
    - special considerations/actions
    - historical decisions or agreements

  11. Removal of standard blank template and ability to create a default institution template which cannot be deleted

We would like to remove or hide the standard out of the box blank template and have a standard institutional template which cannot be deleted or customized. This would ensure that reading lists created by instructors are of the same standard.

  12. Automatically updating new edition citations on all lists the old editions appear on

In instances where a book appears on several reading lists, would it be possible for Leganto to update all the lists if a citation is edited on one list (e.g. if a citation is edited to direct to a new edition)? At present, whenever there is a new edition of a textbook published, we will order the newer version and update the ISBN on the citation to the new edition, running the resource locate function upon saving the change so the citation points to the Alma record of the latest edition and updates the bibliographical information with data from the…

  13. Allow file uploads to be visible to students regardless of citation status

Currently a citation has to be ‘Complete’ for an uploaded file to be visible to students.

We use 'Course Reserves Automatic Statuses' to change citation statuses from 'Complete' if tags or metadata are edited. This means that students won't be able to view a file if a tutor edits or tags the citation. Library staff can set citations back to complete but are only available in Mon-Fri, 9-5, so students may lose access for several days at a weekend.

We're currently trialling the 'Social readings' feature where students can highlight and add comments to documents, but the risk of students…

  14. Conformation and Manual Linking for Resource Locate actions on Citations

It would be great if, using the option to Resource Locate on a citation, there was an option to confirm/decline that the correct inventory was matched through the process before the link takes place.

If we also had the option to manually search for the correct inventory when declining in the above step when the Resource Locate fails to link to the correct inventory, between both of these options we could ensure that the citation links to the inventory we intend.

This would solve the problem which is faced now, that when Resource Locate is used and Alma determines and…

  15. Add additional filtering options in Citations view

When working in Citations view, we frequently have the need to know which citations belong to which processing department in order to batch process citations. Currently functionality does now allow us to view citations by processing department. Therefore we must instead go into each reading list in order to investigate which citations are not yet marked as compete. It would be much more efficient to be able to filter on and view a complete list of citations that need attention.

We also use the term field to help differentiate courses. Neither the reading lists view nor the citations view allows…

Partly done in the December 2018 release, please review.

  16. Alerts

We would prefer a shorter way to view citation notes within Alma, either by clicking on a note within the overview (see attachment ‘Citation note’) or by display of details (‘the note’) within the overview. Now we have to go to Edit > Notes to see the requests/remarks that are essential for our services to instructors.

  18. Improve courses usability in Alma

I'm currently updating lots of instructors in course records. It would really help if there was a way to limit either by filter or facets for the course year in addition to Status, Term and Academic department.

Ideally adding Courses to the persistent search bar and providing facets would be marvellous, but in the interim adding Year to the filters would help. Also, being able to sort by year, academic department would be nice.

When I set a link to the institution's own page in Help, the page pop up on the Leganto screen.

  20. Tags - Library, Instructors & Public

We've created a number of Citation tags for internal Library-staff use to handle Reading List requests.
    e.g

    (Library use) eJournal check required
    (Library use) Permissions required
    (Library use) ILL request placed
    (Library use) scanning required

In the Tag Mapping table, we can set the visibility to Library or Public.

"Library" visibility includes Library staff and Leganto course instructors and collaborators.
We do not want Instructors to use these tags, but they display by default in Leganto, and so could cause confusion if they apply these tags.

We would like to have a setting that only shows to Library staff to…
