How can we improve campusM?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Assets versioning controll.

Would be useful if we could access the folder of assets to do `git init` etc, so ftp or css access the location of these files. For better control over versioning of files lik css.

  2. Show cached data while updating in the background

Currently when a section is loaded (e.g. timetable), if the device is online it will immediately try and load fresh data, leaving a noticeable delay until anything is shown to the user. If the device is offline and data is cached from a previous session, the cached data will immediately be shown. Most apps with offline functionality will do the update in the background AFTER showing whatever data is cached (rather than not showing anything until new data is loaded). This provides a much more responsible user experience, is it possible on campusm?

  3. Sync timetable events to native and Office 365 calendars

The most frequent request we receive from students is to sync timetable events to their native and Office 365 calendars.

Whilst this falls outside of the scope of the campusM platform, it is clearly a complementary service which will be of commercial benefit to Ex Libris and will ensure customers maximise ROI on their campusM investment.

  4. Limit the classes showing on Moodle tile by start/end date

Moodle live tile currently shows a student all their classes. Fresno would like the option to be able to limit this to only the classes they are currently enrolled in and remove classes from past terms.

  5. Use Mail tile when emailing from other tiles within the App

Give the user an option to use the mail app as the default mail client for when clicking mail links from other tiles in the app.

This could be a configuration setting made at first login perhaps or pops up as a notification?

  6. Moodle Event overview button to link to the moodle event overview page

Currently, the Moodle integrated tile has a button called 'Events' which does not deep link to the events overview page on the moodle website.

We would like the button to link to the 'Events overview' page

  7. Improve search within Staff Directory

It would be helpful to improve the search functionality so that misspelt names still return results (e.g. searching for 'Mathew', 'Matew' or 'Mattew' would all return results for a 'Matthew').

This would improve the app experience for international students in particular, who may be unfamiliar with UK names.

  8. Prevent duplicate posts to forums on Moodle

Through testing with students, we've noticed that users are able to make duplicate posts to forums. This seems to happen where it takes a long time for a post to load - if a user selects 'post' or 'reply' multiple times, their post is then posted multiple times. See attached video as an example.

Is it possible to prevent this?

  9. Office 365 integration: incrementally write drafts to local storage

On refreshing the "compose" page of the email tile (this is easy to do accidentally), the content of the email is lost.

If it could be regularly backed up to local storage, this annoyance would be reduced.

Only one email could be backed up at once and the cache could be cleared on sending.

  10. Office 365 integration: create campusM URL scheme to deep-link to the "compose" page of the email tile

When selecting an academic email address - the app invites you to go to your device's email client. This idea requests the creation of a campusM URL scheme to deep-link to the "compose" page of the email tile, with the "to" address pre-populated.

Effectively this will recreate "mailto" but using the campusM Office 365 integration, rather than the device's default email client.

  11. Facebook SDK

Track the impact of app install campaigns through Facebook, using a Facebook SDK https://developers.facebook.com/docs/app-ads/sdk

  12. Moodle Push Notifications should include full message

So if the user receives a forum post notification, the content (text at least) of the forum post should be included - not just the link back to the forum

  13. Allow the sendAlert API to set an alert expiry date/time.

Allow the sendAlert API to set an alert expiry date/time so that we can expire an alert after, say seven days or ten days and the user does not have to remove the alert themselves or end up with loads of old alerts .

  14. Closer integration between Maps and DisabledGo data

Currently we have a maps/locations tile and a DisabledGo tile. I see the DisabledGo information as an extension to the locations as much of the 'initial content is the same (Categories and location names).

It would be beneficial to use the standard maps functionality and see the access information (from DisabledGo) embedded at the point of clicking on a particular location.

Currently a workaround is to use Position Actions to link to DisabledGo information in the app, but I would rather the user stayed within the same section of the app to see this information quickly.
