1. Custom location order in brief results list

   Where there are multiple records for the same holding within our institution, we would like to configure the order of locations in the brief results. Patrons could then see the circulating items first, rather than non-circulating items, reducing confusion and wasted time.

   This is similar to #32961133, "Ability to select which location appears first." The resulting Location Ordering Profile allows us to set a custom order within a single record, which is very helpful. But it does not solve the problem where there are multiple records.

2. Add ability to control local record access information in Primo

   Primo managed via Back Office has powerful functionality to control access information in Primo for all our local records.
   This includes the aligned features of availability statements and Get It / View It by Delivery & Scoping rules, Links rules for all harvested data sources, and the option to build custom mapping tables for references in various rules, all of which can be married with top level facets by Facet rules.

   These features provide necessary information in Primo as expected for a core discovery layer functionality of advising users how they can access and request our resources, and avoids wasting staff time by answering many queries and causing patron frustration, by setting clear expectations directly in Primo UI.

   This rich Primo Back Office environment lies in sharp contrast to Primo VE, where features such as availability statements and top level facets are hardcoded. This includes for discovery records in institutional repositories and archival management systems all marked as full text available, even when this actually isn’t true.

   It is unacceptable that our Primo environment would give false information, particularly with some of these Library resources being highly sensitive and restricted access by publication embargoes or cultural assessments marked as such by cultural advice icon and advisory statements for First Nations peoples.

   As a more detailed example, for our research output and special collections in our Institutional Repository and Archival Management System.
   Depending on the source information, these records can be assigned an availability statement of 'Access conditions apply', an ‘Access’ label in the Get It section, and an ‘Access conditions apply’ top level facet.
   They may have four different Link to Resource labels of 'Citation only (Embargoed)' with an Access label in Get It, ‘Citation only (Request access)’ with an Access label, 'View online for staff and students (Log in required)' with an Access label, and 'View online (Open Access)' with a View It label.
   Where records are ‘Citation only (Request access’), we also include a link to a custom request form in the Access (Get It) section.

   Further examples utilising this functionality include
   • adding a top level facet by the facets_toplevel rules for all Alma 'Physical Items' by Alma-P, instead of only the out-of-the-box facet value for available physical items
   • removal of 856 rules assigning online availability statement, delivery, and facet for Alma records, managed only by best practice Alma-E inventory
   • blending all Alma records with a local fields of lds50 of Peer-reviewed with CDI records for the Peer-Reviewed icon and facet
   • configuring relevant Alma and Institutional Repository records to blend with the Open Access CDI records for icon and facet
   In some few cases such as the Open Access icon for Alma records, Ex Libris have subsequently filled the gap to make available by default, but this took several years to do so on behalf of VE sites, rather than developing the configuration option so that VE sites can add themselves.

   This functionality includes overarching and granular aspects of
   • the ability to build and adjust rules for all local records (including for Alma MARC and Dublin Core) for Availability, Delivery & Scoping, Links, and Facets
   • the ability to build custom mapping tables and reference source data by normalization rules against these tables, to normalize from source data to target data and support clean presentation in UI regardless of source data variation

   This is an issue caused by Primo VE ongoing limited development in this area of local record management. Ex Libris should not force customers to move to Primo VE (either directly or indirectly) when sites using Back Office would have to sacrifice any of these features and functionality, simply because it is not yet developed in VE even after several years. Ex Libris as contracted vendor for our Library Services Platform is expected to provide a discovery environment with the ability to present our own records accurately with the same full functionality as Primo managed via Back Office for all records, including Alma records, discovery import profile records, and Remote Digital Repository records.

   Note: This submission is deliberately comprehensive of various parts of local record configuration, as all of the features are married together in UI. Also, Ex Libris only permits customers 25 votes in Primo Idea Exchange in which to try to advocate not to lose this aligned functionality in moving from BO to VE. Advocacy has also been attempted for several years via avenues such as the 2020 VE Survey and yearly enhancements cycles. The summary attached has also been provided to Ex Libris (with some latest updates included for more custom improvements in 2023, at the time of this idea submission). Ex Libris is welcomed and encouraged to engage with our site and our community on these alignment issues.

4. Option to bulk export normalization rules Primo VE

   We would like to make a bulk export for backup of the normalization rules that we have set up in Primo VE.

   At the moment this functionality does not exist but would be very helpful for us. At the moment if we make changes to the normalization rules it is easy to accidentally delete the entire set of rules for one field. It is also not possible to easily roll back a change that we made.

   Therefore it would be useful to have the export option, to have an extra copy of all the normalization rules as a backup.

5. Add option to control the visibility of collections in Primo and Collections Lobby

   Give customers the option to control the visibility of individual collections in Primo and on the Collections Lobby page.

   Use case: Our institution would like to have a limited number of centrally curated and managed collections that can be viewed in the Collections Lobby. But we would also like to give librarians the option to create their own collections for special projects, exhibits, or courses, which would not be displayed in the Lobby but could still be made accessible via direct link. Ideally, this could be achieved by adding checkboxes to the Collection Editor page - one controlling the collection's visibility in Primo and another controlling its visibility in the Collections Lobby.

6. Pre-populate the address fields when personal delivery options are selected in an item request from Primo VE

   In the November 2023 release it is now possible for patrons to update their registered home or office address (or other personal delivery address) while requesting personal delivery in Primo VE. When the patron selects one of the addresses for pickup in the request form all the address information is blank in Primo VE even when that field type is populated in Alma. This means the patron will think they have to fill out the pickup location information for every request. It would be more efficient to populate the request form with the patron’s pickup location address information if it already exists in Alma so they can determine if the information should be changed.

   In the November 2023 release it is now possible for patrons to update their registered home or office address (or other personal delivery address) while requesting personal delivery in Primo VE. 7. Configuration Option to view all links available in Primo VE (both direct and link resolver)

   Please give us an option to display all links (both direct and link resolver) for all possible links in Primo VE. I have checked the "Display All Links in Full Display for CDI" which gives the direct link first, then students have to click "Show More" dropdown for subscribed content links. It would be preferable to have all available links display without students having to click the dropdown. And also, the subscribed links usually have coverage dates included so quicker for students as well.

8. Improve the date/year filter selection

   The existing "arrow" option for date/year filter selection in Primo VE is problematic for users, resulting in "rage clicks" as they try to select the required date range.

   Can alternative configuration options be provided so we can control how the date/year filtering displays?

   For example options to display a calendar or date range slider or manual data entry to adjust the years.

9. Ability to copy and paste the results from a browse search

   As a librarian, I would like to be able to copy and paste the results from a browse search into Wordpad or Word so that I could then use those results to create a list of hyperlinked subject headings for a library guide. It appears as though this inability to copy and paste applies to all of the “Browse” options (see attached).

10. Highlight OCR text within image in Viewer, not just in full text field

    Digital representations seen in the Alma-D Viewer, accessed through Primo, are often PDFs with OCRed text. These items have a "Full Text" field with this text displayed with the item's metadata in the side pane, and using a browser's "CTR+F" function will highlight results for a searched word, but this functionality would be helpful if it also extended to highlighting the word in the image as well. In dense newspapers, for example, the user may find the needed word in the block of full text, but he would then need to examine the image carefully to track down the instance of its original appearance.

11. Relais third-node adapter

    There should be a way to search consortium library ILSes using Metalib or a z39.50 third-node adapter. We are currently building a metalib quickset to federate search across the consortium. We hate relais' discovery service so we would like to keep users in primo. Currently, the relais link in the new UI is for known items. We would like to create a consortium based union catalog. Even better would be if this could get accomplished by daily automated harvesting within PCI (leaving d2d's web API to check availability and process the loan). If you think this would require additional resources, it could be bundled as an adding to PCI...

    e-shelf indication that items have been copied to clipboard ready for pasting. There is no indication available and when copying large amounts of items it is unclear as to whether they have been added to the clipboard or not so the user cannot tell when it is time to paste.

15. Primo New UI - EBSCO API - filter out no-full-text Item

    We have set up a mixed search results of Primo PCI and EBSCO API. In the Primo new UI, The search results are supposed to show only full-text available materials. But we found some result items of EBCSO API are without full-text. We would like to the results items without full-text from EBSCO API be removed in the new UI in a full-text search while the no-full-text item be shown after clicked "Expand beyond library collections" . 17. Change the record ID methods for Tags and Basket

    For Tags and Basket, the records ID is the dedupmrg number for merged records. We want to use the individual record ID for the group.
    This will ensure that records will allways be pointing on the right record even the all records are deleted and reloaded. The dedupmrg number is different whe we reload all records.

    Our Library has decided to activate in Primo Central Index (1) resources that are free to all users in search and delivery as well as (2) resources that are restricted in delivery but not restricted in search. As there are new collections added to PCI from time to time, in order to save manpower, is it possible to configure our PCI to automatically activate all newly added resources that either have no restrictions at all or is restricted for delivery only but not restricted for search in our production PCI and staging PCI?
