  1. "see" references also for the browsing by title

    Hello,
our (public) case #00518038 has confirmed that the "see" references to not-preferred forms in a browse search are implemented only for Authors and subjects.
We ask the implementation also for the titles
    Thanks,
    Fabiano

  2. Add filter for "Available Now" (i.e. not checked out etc.) to Availability filter/facet

The Availability filter/facet in Primo VE currently includes options to limit by "Available online" and "Held by library". It would be helpful if these options could be further refined to enable filtering to materials that are actually currently fully available/accessible -- for example, not checked out to another user or in another out-of-library processing status. This is functionality that I see in other library catalogs, especially for electronic resources/ebook collections.

  3. Adding Faculty Affiliation and Patron Degree Level to Resource Sharing Form

We would like to add two drop-down fields to the Primo RS form:
    1. Faculty affiliation of requester e.g. Humanities, Social Sciences, etc...
    2. Degree level of student e.g. BA, MA, PhD etc...

These fields would obviously need to appear on the Alma form and be retrievable via Analytics

  4. provide different indication for items 'available online' - but not for my library

when searching for 'electronic sources only' the result list provides the indication 'available online' for all items, including those NOT available for my library.

I do want to see the items not available for my library, but there should be a different indication for them.

Is it possible to show items as 'available online' for those available for my library, and show the other items with 'inter-library loan' indication?

    thanks

  5. Allow libraries at primary Alma campus to be prioritized in Primo displays

Currently on an item brief display, when multiple holdings exist, the availability statement shows whichever holding library comes first alphabetically, and on the results pages the Libraries facet lists libraries in alphabetical order. This alpha setup is problematic for multi-college / multi-library institutions that use per-campus Primo views. If the campus holds the item, its holding, not another campus that comes first alphabetically, should display in the availability statement. In addition, the Libraries facet should either prioritize the primary campus, or be sorted in order of number of hits (as most facets are) rather than alphabetically.

  6. Make the login help link language sensitive

In Alma Configuration it is possible to define Login page help links for Primo VE and to translate the label to another language, but it is not possible to have separate URLs for help pages in different languages.

We would like the URL to be customizable per language the same way the label is.

  7. Reconvigure Search Algorithm to Highlight Subscription Databases

Some change in the Primo search algorithm now shows free sources, such as DOAJ, as not only the best source, but the only source for some articles, even though the article is available in several of our subscription databases. I always want students to utilize subscription databases over free sources, mostly because the subscription databases add value, such as citation help, and also, we pay for them and I want students to use them. I would like to see the algorithm highlight subscription databases regardless of whether a free source is available.

  8. Improve the Feedback option in the Ex Libris Knowledge Centre to also send an email to the submitter

Ex Libris has a preferred reporting mechanism for Documentation via the Feedback feature at the bottom left of all Knowledge Centre pages. There is an option for the submitter to include their email to be updated on the progress by the Ex Libris Documentation Team. However, this option does not also send the text of the feedback to the submitter. This would be very useful as a means to track issues, as in updates by email for SalesForce comments and updates.

It can unfortunately take a very long time for documentation to be improved even when customers are regularly submitting…

  9. Allow HTML in Collection Discovery description field

It would be useful to allow HTML in the description field of an Alma Collection record. It would allow some formatting and links out to other pages. Currently any HTML displays as text.

  10. make sign-in reminder above items list sticky

for records with large numbers of items attached it would improve the user experience if the banner which reminds users to sign in to place requests was 'sticky' so that it was always visible no matter how far down the list of items they are. for instance, our staff have reported user confusion when browsing for a specific physicval volume of a long-running journal title - they eventually find the item they want but then don't know how to get it because there's no sign in option.

  11. A-Z option in Primo VE Journal Search

Add an A-Z browse option for Primo VE Journal Search, like the one available for Primo Classic as of the May 2017 release: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/030Highlights/028Primo_May_2017_Highlights#Support_of_Alma_Journal_Search_%28New_UI%29

  12. Add feature to Primo services page to help users outside Primo find full text from PCI direct link collections

The Alma link resolver only returns results from the Alma repository, so it would be useful to add a feature to the Primo services page that would pull in results from Primo Central direct link collections too. Perhaps the feature could show a search results preview from the library’s Primo and format it like the bx service in an orderly side panel. Such a change would encourage users to search the library’s Primo before they resort to an ILL request or give up on looking for the item. Some full text content is exclusively available through PCI direct link collections,…

  13. Restrict discoverability of e-resources for walk in users to those resources they are licenced to use

We're looking to restrict the discoverability of electronic resources for walk in users to those resources they are licenced to use.

Ideally, Primo would identify that the walk in users were from a certain IP range and in combination with an Alma licence
condition which allowed walk-in use to the resources, it would allow them to discover the resource.

  14. Indent newspaper search under Source Type limiters

Indent the "Newspapers search" link under the "Source Type" limiter to bring it in line with the other listed source types (e.g. Articles, Reivews, Books, etc.).

As it currently displays, without being indented, it appears that all of the source types listed below are sub-sets of the Newspapers search.

    Ejemplo: https://fama.us.es/discovery/browse?vid=34CBUA_US:VU1&browseQuery=historia%20de%20espa%C3%B1a&browseScope=subject.1&innerPnxIndex=-1&numOfUsedTerms=-1&fn=BrowseSearch

  17. Searching special characters Ayin or Apostrophe in Primo

In Alma, you get the same results if you include or exclude the special character ayin or apostrophe in your search terms. However, in Primo searches you need to include these special characters. If they are missing, you will not find the same result.

Ayin is used in transliterated title of items in Hebrew, Arabic, Armaic, Syriac, and Korean languages. It is not on a standard US keyboard, so it is difficult for users to include it in the search.

Apparently, Alma uses a different indexing system. We would like Primo to be able to do the same as Alma…

  18. Increase the granularity of of metadata fields for searching in Primo Central

Additional metadata fields be made searchable within Primo Central. Author affiliation, Abstract, Author Keywords, Thesaurus keywords, Chemical name, Source title, Funding information, full text, etc. The publishers and some database providers provide some or all of this information, for the publishers that do not supply the information, the field will be empty, for the many duplicate records the field information may be found in one or more of the duplicate records. It would be better to make search available for the additional fields, than over simplify search and remove the capability. Improves the level of sophisticated and accurate searching within…

  19. Add Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) content to Primo Central Index

Could you work with Centre for Economic Policy Research to add metadata for their publications to Primo Central Index? This is a critical source for working papers for economists. Access to their content requires a subscription. Currently, there is an Alma CZ collection with a very small subset of the CEPR's publications.I have not been able to find a collection in Primo Central Index to turn on for this publisher.

  20. View Primo as someone else / different types of users

View Primo as "someone else". It would be useful to view our Primo-page as different types of users. Being able to view Primo as an internal user, or a student, or staff member, or an external user, would help us troubleshoot configuration and settings in Alma. Have we activated the right functionality for the different user groups? Have we hidden what we want to hide?

tl;dr: Facebook's "View as" functionality in Primo.
