  1. New records facet according to Inventary record

Primo VE facet for New records (last month, last week) retrieves records according to the bibliographic record creation date.
The problem in some institutions is it takes an average of one month from when the record is created until it is available to the user, therefore, the new records that are available in the last week for the user appear under the last month facet or even, sometimes, in the last three months.

We ask for theese facets take into account the Inventory Date instead of the Bibliographic Record Creation Date

  2. New customization package = force browser cache refresh

Primo VE's browser cache is much too strong.

After the upload of a new customization package I have to check the changes in a new private window and tell my colleagues to test in a new private window.

Recently I got sent a fresh screenshot by a patron which showed a styling element that we have changed several months ago.

We can't ask our patrons to use Primo VE in a private browser window if they want to see the up to date version.

=> When uploading an adapted customization package, there should be a forced refresh of the cache…

  3. Let patrons collapse elements of the full title display

    Hi

There should be a setting in the patron account where they can decide which elements of the full display of a title are collapsed and which are open.

The patrons are confronted with a lot of information of which only a small part is relevant to them – but which part they consider relevant can be different.

You can collapse 'Get it from other institutions' (https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/i-share/discovery-interface/custom_package_collapsegetitother) – in the same way it's probably possible to collapse the other elements, too.

  5. prioritize highlighted reference

Make it possible to configure and/or prioritize how highlighted reference entries show up in Primo. As it stands, if I have multiple resources that would be triggered to display as highlighted reference, one should show but it might not be the best one. We should be able to adjust which resources display.

  6. Primo VE: Ability to search by publisher (advanced search or facet)

The MARC 260b + 264b field is not included in the out-of-the-box indexing in Primo VE advanced search or facet as PUBLISHER. According to the documentation the publisher name is searchable only by general in the simple search and not in the advanced search, specific search for the publisher name. Readers want to limit the results by the name of the publisher.

  7. Primo VE: need for an option to Show All Items from a location

An option to show All items from a location should be available in Primo VE.
Currently if you want to display all items from a location, you have to use the 'Show More Items' button several times which can be very excruciating while displaying newspaper's items.

  11. Apply Controlled Vocabulary Service to Primo Browse

Currently, the Controlled Vocabulary Service is only applied to Primo Search. With the CVS, when users search for a term like "heart attack", they see both the list of all results and a message at the top of the results saying "Including 'myocardial infarction'. Just search 'heart attack'". This allows the user to specify which terms are in use, and to narrow them to just the specific term searched for if desired. Primo Browse lacks this service, and only returns precise results, but it would still be useful for users to be presented with an option to instead see similar…

  12. Allow the available figure for Physical items to be configured

The available figure in Primo for Physical items includes all items which are not on loan. We want to be able to exclude items with certain item policies or item locations from this figure.
These items will still be displayed within Primo but will not be included in the available count.

  13. Allow Primo/Primo VE View customization packages to accept .db files and .DS_Store

The view customization packages for Primo and Primo VE do not allow .db files. When someone opens a folder with images, Windows automatically creates a hidden Thumbs.db file. MacOS creates similar .DS_Store files.

This file can be difficult to remove even with rights to view and delete the file, since Windows will sometimes indicate the file is in use and cannot be deleted.

Rather than jumping through hoops to recreate the customization package structure and carefully place images only in the desired folders never to be opened again, I would propose that Primo and Primo VE accept customization packages that…

  14. Make Primo content discoverable via Microsoft Bing search engine

With an increasing emphasis on measuring and maximising the impact of research outputs, an incentive for researchers depositing content in an institutional repository is that this can boost readership, citation counts and potential impact of the research - but this is dependent on the discoverability of this content.
Studies have shown that an increasing proportion of academic search and discovery activity occurs outside the discovery services provided by the library, with researchers using discipline-specific indexes such as Scopus, academic search engines such as Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic, and general web search engines like Google and Bing.
    It is therefore…

  15. Fix Defect: Advanced Search date filter

The date filter only works for year (not day or month) in the advanced search for Primo Central records.

This is a known issue with searches for Primo Central records. Primo Central searches on the creationdate field, which doesn't have a month/day, only year. Therefore, if you use the Advanced Search Start Date/End Date fields, the results will include Primo Central items outside of the month/day range.

Please fix this defect to allow searching on day, month, and year.

  16. move the favicon to the top level (outside /img) to fix Firefox bookmarks

    Hi

The favicon for our view is stored in the /img folder within the customization package.

For Firefox to display it correctly when I have the URL in my bookmark bar, the favicon needs to be outside the /img folder.

    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1230644
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1226447

"the saved bookmark favicon image was located in other than the website server file path root directory which was the original W3C standard for favicon placement for web browsers to loom for it"

As long as the favicons are stored within /img, they display ok in the tabs of Firefox, but get lost when I drag the URL…

  17. Make handling of multilingual labels easier

    Hi

Our Primo VE has 4 interface languages.

    1)
Changing a term means I have to change it in each language separately, save it (which throws me out of the table to the list of tables), click 'edit' again, then change the next language etc. Otherwise the changes are not taken.

Surely there's a way to make that easier?

For example display all languages at once, which would also make it much easier to compare the languages.

    2)
After I changed a label, when I search for it, I still get results, although it does not exist any longer in…

  18. View full record in results view

The current behaviour to move from search results to exploring a record is to open a pop up to view the full record.
This takes the user away from the results set they are working with.
There is feedback that some users dislike pop ups.
We have also observed that many users open full records in a new tab in order to have records of interest open in tabs to go explore in detail later whilst continuing to work with the search results.
To match user behaviour in exploring search results I'd like to suggest an option to open the…

  19. General Electronic Service - Additional Display location

In Primo VE you can set up a General Electronic Service (GES) to display in Primo VE under

    Getit & How to Getit
    Viewit and How to Getit
Getit, Viewit & How to Getit
    How to Getit only
    None

For when you only want a GES to display on an ebook or electronic resource, the display option doesn't give this option, but you can for physical items.

Idea is for there to be more options under display locations to make a far easier and straightwards option to select specific displays, specifically Viewit ONLY

  20. Availability status for webhooks

The availability status for Primo Search Webhook records (such as for Newsbank) is always "Check for available services." Our users are accustomed to seeing this status when materials are not available full text online, and we would like the availability status to better indicate that full text is available. It would be great if the default display could be changed to "Available online" for these materials or if we had the ability to modify the display only for webhooks.
