  2. Enable retrieval with/without/compound hyphens in Hebrew

It is very important to enable the search in Primo with and without hyphen to retrieve all relevant records (with hyphen, without hyphen and as compound words).
Some examples of current discrepancies in retrieval are:

    צפון-קרוליינה retrieved 2 results
    צפון קרוליינה retrieved 486 results

    עת-מול retrieved zero results
עת מול retrieved 83 results, including the title עת-מול : עתון לתולדות ארץ ישראל ועם ישראל. ‬

searching using the pre-filter Title and limiting to 2010-2021 for
    ארצות הברית retrieves 71 results

  3. Facet "Availability" : display order

I would like to be able to choose the order in which items are displayed in the "Availability" facet, and thus put the most important ones first.

In the backoffice, a "display order" column exists. I created a case to know why the display did not correspond to my choice. The person who answered, told me that it was not used in the user interface, and that it was considered as an improvement request.

  4. Option to highlight the edition statement in brief results

Hi, in a recent student survey we received feedback that the edition of a work should be more prominently labelled. It would be good if this text was more obvious in the brief results, perhaps with a different colour, positioning or size?

  5. Add 007 to MARC control identifiers for display and search normalization

This would enable normalization rules to target specific resource types.

In cases where MARC data may differ based on current practices (MARC 245 $c: Side B titles vs. Statement of Responsibility), we would be able to differentiate records that may contain uniquely catalogued data.

  7. Define preferred pickup location in personal details of my account

As a user of a large library network, I usually pick up the books I loan at library Z. When making a request I have to scroll down or use the search function in order to find library Z at the bottom of the very long list of pickup locations.

I would like a new feature, so that I can define my preferred pickup location as library Z in the personal details of my account. So, my preferred pickup location would always be displayed at the very top of the list of pickup locations. Plus, I could see at one…

  8. "Feedback Tool" for the New Primo UI: possibility to define the e-mail field as a mandatory field

We have been using the feedback tool for a few weeks now and have unfortunately received many requests where the users did not provide an e-mail address.
As a result, we have no way to ask a question or explain the reported behaviour (as it is correct).

Therefore, we would be glad if the e-mail field can be defined as a mandatory field in the Primo back office.
A user can of course still enter a fake e-mail address, but then this is a deliberate action.

    Thank you in advance!

  9. Configure new searches to automatically exclude facets from result list (2022)

As a user, I want to configure Primo to automatically exclude certain facets from search results so patrons do not have to exclude the item with every new search

    The solution would be configurable.
The default configuration would have no exclusions defined.

Using Resource Type: Reviews as an example:

    • The institution uses the solution to exclude Resource Type: Reviews.
    • The solution adds [facet=rtype, exclude, reviews] to the query. The behavior would be the same as if the user clicked the Exclude button next to the resource type: reviews.
    • Users would be able to modify their filters like usual.

    Query without configuration:
    /discovery/search?query=any,contains,Carrots&tab=Everything&search_scope=Everything&vid=[institution…

  10. Sorting of multiple copies according to item policy "available for loan"

Our library for medicine offers a large number of copies of some standard works. Some of them are not borrowable because they belong to the reference collection (item policy 63). Other copies have the item policy "available for loan, 1 day" (item policy 59) or "available for loan, 28 days" (item policy 01).
    Example; https://slsp-network.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/41SLSP_UBE/hnud4r/alma99116892929105511

In the details display (get it), the items that can be borrowed for 28 days are displayed last and are very difficult for users to find.
Ideally, the filter function should be adapted to contain the option "available for loan", so that patrons can choose…

  11. New tool 'Give us feedback' - allow files to be uploaded

It would be helpful if the new 'Give us feedback' widget allowed users to upload files when reporting issues. Our current in-house widget allows this and we have found it a useful feature.

  12. Display related holdings for monographs only for the 773 $w relation and not for the 8xx $w relation

When filtering to a certain location via facets, you often get results from other locations too, which is unexpected from patrons perspective in many cases. This is caused by the current related records setting which is also taking locations with related records into account. The display is correct for analytical records without inventory (book chapters and articles), but not for the other monographical resources.

What we wish to achieve is the following:

When the record of a book chapter, journal issue or journal article (i.e. a record containing a 773 field with $w) is viewed in Primo, the holding of…

  13. Extend the limit on the Summary Holdings Display to more than 10 holdings.

If a title is held at more than 10 locations, its holdings summary will not appear on the Locations page—however, the more locations, the higher demand for checking the range of the coverage. Therefore, please display all summary holdings regardless of the number of holdings.

  14. Physical items sort routine by date - enable I J K descending, but A B C ascending

    Hi
We're running into a problem with the Physical items sort routine - Sort according to date.

For journals, we want to sort the latest item on top, this works correctly with
Sort according to chronology I/U/K (year/month/day) - Descending

    Example
    https://basel.swisscovery.org/discovery/fulldisplay?vid=41SLSP_UBS:live&search_scope=UBS&tab=UBS&docid=alma9910177740105504&lang=en&context=L

    BUT
The same sort routine is also used for multi volume monographs.
We found out that if we only fill out conditions for Chronology I J K, but those fields are empty, the barcode gets used for sorting.
    Which leads to wrong sorts.

    So we had to add
    Enumeration A, B, C as a condition.

    This leads to…

  15. "Feedback Tool" for the New Primo UI: Configuring the Feedback Letter - please support multilingualism

There are already pre-defined labels for the e-mail in different languages (e.g. default.report.emailTextNoEmail) but they are currently non-functional :-(

"Note: Only the en_US descriptions are supported for email labels, and no translations are provided if configured in the table."

According to Production Management, implementation is not planned for the time being and we should raise an idea.
So, please vote for this idea ;-)

  16. Ability to set default purchase request library for all users with Purchase Request Form

We would like the option to set a default purchase request library that is selected/displayed automatically in the purchase request form in Primo VE, regardless of whether the patron submitting the form has a purchase request library selected in their Alma record. This would allow the purchase request form to come to us in Alma with the correct Owning Library filled in automatically (as we only purchase via one of our libraries).

  18. Collection Discovery: allow searching subcollections' contents at the collection level

Currently, when a user searches in a collection, Primo only returns objects that are directly located under this collection, ignoring any contents located in subcollections. This means that the user needs to open each subcollection and do the search again to discover all objects included in the collection. This is cumbersome and counter-intuitive. We would like that the search results also include objects and subcollections located at lower levels in the hierarchy.

  19. Improvement of the Calculate queue button on request forms

In July 2020 a new button for calculating the patron’s place in queue when requesting a physical title was introduced. The function was a welcome attempt to make it clearer to the patron how long he/she might have to wait to get the book, but with the current design we find it more confusing than helpful. The function does not take into account if any items are available in the library or if all items are on loan to other patrons.

When a user places a request on a title that is available in the library the current message is…

  20. Custom location order in brief results list

Where there are multiple records for the same holding within our institution, we would like to configure the order of locations in the brief results. Patrons could then see the circulating items first, rather than non-circulating items, reducing confusion and wasted time.

This is similar to #32961133, "Ability to select which location appears first." The resulting Location Ordering Profile allows us to set a custom order within a single record, which is very helpful. But it does not solve the problem where there are multiple records.
