  1. Auto correct typos

Primo search should have the ability to auto correct common spelling errors and typos.

A current review of our zero result searches has shown that many zero result searches are typos and misspellings.
Users are used to systems that can auto-correct or suggest corrections for misspelled words.
Auto correct of typos would greatly improve the user experience.

  2. Allow the list of items in Favorites to be "printed" as a PDF file

Primo lacks a lot of functionality for printing - most modern data systems allow output of PDF files. This would enhance output on both traditional computers and portable devices.

  3. Display of 541 and 561 fields in holdings records should be determined by value in first indicator of the field

Currently if display of 541 and/or 561 fields in holdings records is enabled in "Holdings Display Customization", 541 and/or 561 fields display in the GetIt section in Primo regardless of the value in the first indicator. If the value in the first indicator is zero then the 541/561 field should not be displayed - this is standard MARC coding (see https://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hd541.html and https://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hd561.html ).

Ex Libris proposed a solution to us where when the holdings record is saved the a 541 and/or 561 field with first indicator empty or 1 is copied to a 999 field, and in the Holdings…

  4. Automatically open to full display when there is only one result for the search.

When a Primo search finds an exact match (only one record displays in the search results list), it would be useful (and reduce clicks) if the record automatically opened to the full display. If a user knows exactly what they're looking for, the interim (brief) display is unnecessary. A direct link to the full display is currently only possible from a permalink. The permalink contains the publishing id which is not available from Alma APIs, analytics or source record. Search urls using the source record id should automatically open to the full display.

  5. "see" references also for the browsing by title

    Hello,
our (public) case #00518038 has confirmed that the "see" references to not-preferred forms in a browse search are implemented only for Authors and subjects.
We ask the implementation also for the titles
    Thanks,
    Fabiano

  6. Create a "Resources I can access" item under the Show Only left hand side menu.

Create a "Resources I can access" filter item under the Show Only left hand side menu. This would use the clients logged in group to apply a filter to search results to only show those that they can actually access with their login group. I am sure you can think of a better label for the filter. The principle is the same as "Full Text Online" - most of the time clients want to be able to get to the items they can access straight away as efficiently as possible - this is not an issue most of the time…

  7. Book covers images for generic FRBR result

In the result list a generic FRBR document does not show a cover image but only the generic FRBR icon. The result list would look much more attractive if also FRBR results had real cover images. Ideally, the real covers images of the top 3 FRBR results were used to form a fan of covers. So, the FRBR icon would only be used if there are no real covers images.

  8. Display only a certain amount of characters in the "Title" area for search results.

Several entries in the PCI, especially Book Reviews, have "incorrect" metadata provided by the vendor, which leads to extremely long titles being displayed in the results page. Having the ability to cap the display of these titles at a customizable number of maximum characters could help in such cases to clean up display (as many times correcting the metadata for these results is beyond ExLibris' capability/authority).

  9. Launch Primo Studio from back office and auto-generate your own view

There is the option from the UI customization Package Manager page in the Primo back office to launch Primo Studio, but at the moment you have to manually adjust the URL and view code in order to see your own version of Primo. On top of this, you also have to manually upload your own view package in order to see your own customisations. I'd like this to be improved so that the launch button from the Primo BO automatically launches Primo Studio with your own UI and all of its customisations so that changes can be applied immediately

  10. Track the date of when a record is deleted

If primo is given a record to be deleted, it is removed from the source record table. This means that there is no indication that Primo ever had the record. Continuing to track the record id would allow the search PNX tool to tell the user when the record was deleted. This would be useful in tracking down problems of missing records that are expected to be in Primo.

  11. Add 'Show more' - 'Show less' options

Where Primo displays significant amounts of metadata from a single record in search results and the 'Details' section (such as very long lists of authors / subjects or very detailed summaries, contents notes, etc.), it would be useful if the text being displayed was truncated and options to Show more/less were provided for the user.

  12. Active Links in Journal Record when Searching in Journals

Currently when you search for a journal in a general search the full record will have links to the author, subject heading, etc. When you use the actual Journal Search this links are not available. It would be nice to have active links in this record as well.

  13. Better Primo VE Menu Link Options

Custom menu links in Primo open in a new tabbed window. This is bad behavior. If I go back to the original screen and press the button again, it opens up another window in another tab, and so on.

    Desired Behavior:
Menu link goes to address -- does not open a new window or tab. At the very least, it should have be an option for developers. Currently it is hard-coded in the html and not changeable. Using it leads to cluttered browsers.

  14. Make search expansions for author names visible to end users

When performing an advanced author search, Primo returns results for associated pseudonyms. For example, an exact author search for J.K. Rowling returns results for the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. However, unlike with keyword search expansions, the user is given no indication that Primo is including results for related terms. This enhancement would make expanded author searches behave like other search expansions by providing proper notification and giving the use the option to exclude the expanded search results.

  15. Facet Libraries should display all libraries even when holdings not exist

We like to have a configuration option in facets libraries that would show all the library facets even when holdings not exist. Instead the letter zero would be displayed in parenthesis. Though if it's configurated to not show the numbers then it wouldn't be possible to display all libraries.

  16. Why is ExL using a large X as a navigation tool in the new UI?

When I first came across this X, I thought it was a coding fault. It does not seem (to me) intuitive that you should click on it to return to the previous screen. A small x on the top RH corner of the open window would make more sense.

  17. Search by abbreviation journal titles

We would like to search by abbreviation journal titles.
For exsample, "The Journal of Chemical Science" ="JACS"="J. AMER. CHEM. SOC.".
In SFX, we can do it, so I hope in Primo, too.

  18. Display Primo Viewit links for Alma-D resources above the general electronic services menu

In the viewit segment of the full record display in Primo, links to electronic resources (Alma-E or online resources) display above links to general electronic services. Links to digital resources from Alma-D display below any general electronic service options. Since accessing the resource (either digital or electronic) will generally be the higher priority for users, we would like links to digital resources to always display above any general electronic services.

  19. Can you update the Primo publication date slider facet to include a frequency graph?

Essentially like the one the University of Leeds Library has in Summon. See The as an example: http://leeds.summon.serialssolutions.com/?fvf=ContentType%2CBook+Review%2Ct&ho=t&l=en&q=law#!/search?ho=t&fvf=ContentType,Book%20Review,t&rf=PublicationDate,1972-01-01:*&l=en&q=law or attached image. Very visual, functional and user friendly way to show the distribution of publications over time.

  20. Have Available status in Primo be variable so that it shows Recently Returned for 24 hours and then automatically changes to Available

Currently there is a single code table label showing an Available status. Having the option to configure a label of Recently Returned that would display for 24 or 48 hours and then automatically change to Available would more accurately tell the patron and staff twhere an item might be.
