  1. “My Favorites” pin should indicate number of records in favorites

    In the Primo New UI, there is the “my favorites” pin icon at the top right of the screen (screenshot below of the pin). We ran some usability surveys and found that users would like an indication, via the icon, that something is there. Like the number if pinned items and/or a different color indicating that something is there.

  2. Exported citations to EndNote include a URL

    When you export citations from Primo to EndNote using the download option then you don't get a fulltext URL. This means you would have to save the pdf if available or add the link separately.

  3. Primo Central Index ( PCI ) - more granularity in excluding content from activated resources - e.g. exclude from index by resource type

    Right now in Primo Central Index the customer can either activate or not a resource. But sometimes more granularity would be appreciated. Namely adding a filter by resource type allowing inclusion or exclusion in the index would be very useful. Please note: it's not a matter of adding a resource type in PCI. It's a matter of excluding records with a specific resource type from activated resources.

    For example, some resources/data sources contains not only articles, but also journals and other resource types we actually catalogue. Since right now dedup does not work between local records and PCI, this ends…

  4. Display only a certain amount of characters in the "Title" area for search results.

    Several entries in the PCI, especially Book Reviews, have "incorrect" metadata provided by the vendor, which leads to extremely long titles being displayed in the results page. Having the ability to cap the display of these titles at a customizable number of maximum characters could help in such cases to clean up display (as many times correcting the metadata for these results is beyond ExLibris' capability/authority).

  6. Embargoed resources displaying in Primo

    Currently records from within an embargo period are discover-able to end-users via Primo.
    The user then thinks we have access to the records and selects it only to be presented with No full text available.
    Embargoed records are outside of our coverage range and should not display in our discovery interface.

  7. Author/Title Index in Browse Search

    Every library catalog I have ever used has included an Author/Title index which searches headings combining author/creator name and uniform title. The index usually includes:
    * 100/240
    * 110/240
    * 111/240
    * 700 where $$t is present
    * 710 where $$t is present
    * 711 where $$t is present
    * 800 where $$t is present
    * 810 where $$t is present; and
    * 811 where $$t is present

    I have included screenshots of how this browse search works in the Library of Congress' system, using "Shakespeare, William" as a search term.

  8. Add Library pre-filter to Primo VE Advanced Search

    It would be helpful if users could pre-scope their search to a particular library in the advanced search, rather than waiting to filter with the post-search facets.

  9. Allow customization of the item status field in Primo

    The item status field is misleading for material that is on order. Primo displays a message saying “Item not yet received, expected on DD/MM/YYYY”. This date can be several weeks in the future. It is calculated by adding a set number of days specific to a vendor to the date that the order was sent to the vendor. The number of days is set according to when it is judged to be appropriate to claim items which have not been received. We therefore tend to set it as eight or so weeks in the future for many vendors. In reality…

  10. Automatically open to full display when there is only one result for the search.

    When a Primo search finds an exact match (only one record displays in the search results list), it would be useful (and reduce clicks) if the record automatically opened to the full display. If a user knows exactly what they're looking for, the interim (brief) display is unnecessary. A direct link to the full display is currently only possible from a permalink. The permalink contains the publishing id which is not available from Alma APIs, analytics or source record. Search urls using the source record id should automatically open to the full display.

  11. Put useful data into the RSS feeds created by Primo

    Technically RSS feeds created by Primo are working. But from a content perspective the feed is a mess.

    Let's start with the feed header:

    Primo delivers <rss version="2.0">
    The standard specification are at http://www.rssboard.org/rss-specification . It was published in August 2002. The RSS 2.0 specification is copyrighted by Harvard University and is frozen. Please use RFC 4287 also known as Atom.
    https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4287
    It is simply the better option for may reasons.
    http://www.intertwingly.net/wiki/pie/Rss20AndAtom10Compared

    The description of the feed is <title>Records from Primo</title> .
    As a user I would like to see my search terms in the feed title - like in…

  12. Make Publisher an Indexable Field that Can be Searched or Scoped in Primo

    Many of our users like to search by publisher to find new materials or a particular edition--it would be helpful if that field could at least be picked up by keyword search.

  13. Add wording to Advanced Search Box

    Currently, unlike the Basic Search box, one cannot add wording in the Advanced Search box in the new Primo UI, like "Enter search terms", which is confusing as users don't know that they need to click in the first Advanced Search box to start searching. Even moving the cursor to the first Advanced Search box would help.

    Thanks,

  14. Allow for consistant customizations in the new UI

    The open discovery of the new UI allows customers to customize the new UI, extend its functionalities, and connect Primo with external services.
    This framework can offer an important added value to institutions; it can enable them to respond to specific needs of their user community.
    We want to implement extensions for functionalities like:
    • Offer a button “report a problem” that allows a user to report a broken link or another problem with a specific source he found. The form sends this message to our helpdesk, together with useful debug info like : is the user on or off…

  16. an "I Want It" button

    The Penn State library has an “I want it” feature in its catalog, in the search results. It struck me as very direct and to the point. When you click it, it prompts you to sign into their system but I assume it would take you to a request form. I don’t know why they hide it under that three dot icon. I would like to see in Primo, if possible, an “I want it” button, not buried in a menu but right next to every book title in the Primo search result. The idea being that clicking “I want…

  17. Create a link for users to report an issue

    There are some institutions that have added functionality where users can report a problem for a specific record. It would be great if this could be offered through Primo. Users would click on an icon to report their issue. In the back office, there would be the option to configure the url for the hyperlinked icon. It would be even better to add logic where you could configure the link in relation to the type of record (CZ, NZ, IZ). This builds on the idea on reporting an issue for CZ records.

  18. Allow Primo to comply with the "force password change on next login" setting in Alma for internal users

    Alma has the internal user setting "Force password change on next login". Primo does not comply with this setting, so there is no way to force patrons to change their passwords in Primo. This is problematic, because our internal user accounts have a very insecure default password initially set for them. Please consider implementing this feature for Primo

  19. Exclude online material

    Many library users want to search for print material and not the online material. We want to be able to exclude the online material. Right now you can choose to search print material that is available on the shelf, but doing that you miss out on the titles that are out on loan.
