  1. Allow the use of library location to hide hold or resource sharing requests in display logic rules

A use case scenario: we allow students to put a hold request (local request) on our equipment when it is all checked out so when the first one comes back they are notified. We also use the hold (local request) for users to request items we have in the library to be pulled and put on the hold shelf for pick up. However, we are part of a consortium so currently when one of our books/videos are checked out the hold and resource sharing links show up so an item could be held, which will take much longer than resource…

  2. request

Place "request" link (i.e. physical item request) against availability locations as opposed one "request" link that currently appears against the whole availability section of a search result in PrimoVE. As Alma expects items from the same location to behave in the same manner, surely physical item availability in PrimoVE should opperate in the same way - here the "request" link should only appear against a location where all items are on loan and not against the full availability for all locations where physical items may be on the shelf and where a Library may not want "on shelf" requesting. The…

  3. Add double dashes to subject heading displays between subdivisions

The standard display of subject headings, as seen in the Library of Congress, is to place double dashes between their subdivisions. So "$a Germany $x Politics and government $y 19th century" would be displayed as "Germany--Politics and government--19th century." However, Primo VE only places the subdivisions together without distinction, resulting in "Germany Politics and government 19th century." This is is less visually clear to users and isn't consistent with standard practice; it should be a simple matter for Primo VE to place double dashes where a subfield indicator belongs.

  4. Primo VE: Allow users to select false options when requesting items to another campus

Due to the set up of rules within our system, students are able to request books to any campus they want to except their home campus (as it is available to pick up).
When they don't see their campus as an option, they will send the book to another campus, see that it has arrived, and then turn up at the wring site expecting the item.

We're proposing a setting in which the student would be able to select their own campus, but then receive an error message when they try to process it explaining why they can't and what…

  5. Make collection and subcollection names discoverable in the Collections lobby.

Make collection and subcollection names discoverable in the Collections lobby. Currently, collection names and subcollection names are discoverable in Primo VE, but not discoverable in the Collections lobby.

    Example:

We have a collection called: "Daher Folk Tales". It is discoverable in Primo VE:

    https://librarysearch.centennialcollege.ca/discovery/search?query=any,contains,daher%20folk%20tales&tab=Everything&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&vid=01OCLS_CENTENN:CENTENN&lang=en&offset=0

but not in the Collections lobby:

    https://librarysearch.centennialcollege.ca/discovery/collectionDiscovery?vid=01OCLS_CENTENN:CENTENN&query=any,contains,daher%20folk%20tales

We would like all collections and subcollections to be discoverable by name in the Collections lobby, because we will soon have a long list of collections on the lobby page, and many, many levels of subcollections. This enchancement would nake it easier for users to find the right subcollection,…

  6. Allow end users to toggle "Resource Type" sorting - alpha or size

    Hello

We have had a query about whether it is possible to add a second Resource Type section to Primo VE in order to allow for an alphabetical searching option (our default sort is size of search results). I was sure this wasn't possible, but offered to create an idea here requesting to allow end users to choose how they sort the list of Resource Types.

This would enable them to toggle between the two sort types, e.g. to see Newspaper Articles near Newspapers, but then to change back to 'size' sorting to see the largest number of results, etc.

  8. Consistent UX or labelling for Collection Discovery search box

Ideal solution: The Collection Discovery search box should be persistent and always search at the item level within all collections (as it does in the lobby) in order to provide a logical, consistent user experience.

Secondary solution: the label text should be editable for each search box separately to make it clear what is being searched on the page.

    Problem:

    • The lobby search box is for everything
    • The top-level collection search box is for the title of sub-collections in that area only
    • The sub-collection search box is for items in that sub-collection only.

Yet, all three options say "search" and…

  10. Allow manual control of thumbnails in Primo records

Primo uses Syndetics to supply thumbnails of book covers for records within Primo. However, when Syndetics provides an incorrect image based on their data, it requires a ticket and often several weeks to correct it. In contrast, some records have no thumbnail at all and use a default gray book icon. Libraries should have the option to use this default icon when Syndetics is providing an incorrect image, or to upload and use local images in cases of records that have no images in Syndetics (for example, with archival and special collection books that are old enough that they have…

  11. "Search inside" option in PrimoVE for Journal titles - prevent this option for print only titles

Currently in PrimoVE, when a journal title search is undertaken for a title that is held in print format only, the "search inside" option is present. This is extremely misleading for users. If they undertake a search using this function, where the title is held in print format only, the user is shown articles from other titles.
Our idea therefore seeks that the leader, 007, 008 marc fields are used to identify when the title is a print only title and therefore prevent the "search inside" option from appearing against such titles in PrimoVE.

  12. Show only Uniform title when FRBR key contains field 130 information

When records are grouped together in Primo VE because they have the same uniform title in MARC field 130, the display of the title and creators in the Brief results display for this group is not ideal.

The group shows the title and creators of one of the records in the group, which can be confusing to the user.

What would be more ideal in these cases is that when the Uniform Title is used to generate the FRBR key, to only display the Uniform title from field 130 in the Brief results display for the grouped records, and no…

  13. New Book List in Primo VE

I would love to have in-built Primo VE functionality to showcase the new book list in Primo VE, like Trinity College (https://ctw-tc.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01CTW_TC:CTWTC&lang=en) did using this alternatively, but not everyone is that techy, so please consider adding this in upcoming releases.

  14. Enable Quicklinks on a Provider-by-Provider Basis

We would like to be able to enable QuickLinks links on a per-provider basis.

We would like more control over which providers QuickLinks operates again, both for testing and link accuracy reasons.

When we find a provider for which QuickLinks do not work well, we have no workaround other than disabling QuickLinks completely. This negatively affects our users, because QuickLinks may be working well for resources from other Providers.

We would also like be to be able to test QuickLinks with new providers, prior to having QuickLinks attempt to link to the new provider's resources.

  15. Improve the formatting of Primo VE forms so that they can expand and accommodate longer titles.

In Primo VE the Resource Sharing and Purchase Request forms are designed to be very narrow - the entry fields are 50 characters wide. They look like they have been designed to be optimised for a mobile interface and do not resize if more room is available.
This means that if I requested Title is longer than 50 characters you cannot see it all at once.

We have attempted to use changes in the css to widen the form but this causes issues with the display of Advanced Search fields.

  16. Categorise dbs/guides/sites via Primo admin. The databases be indexed, searched or browsed for in PrimoVE customers that do not have Alma

The ability to subject categorise databases, library guides, Web sites etc via Primo admin. The databases and guides they are included in the Primo index so that the words in the title, description or keywords when searched will appear within the results. Also so the resources can browsed for in PrimoVE or Primo classic by the categories so there is not a long list to scroll through. This is for customers that do not have Alma or any library catalogue. I have seen you can currently do this only for Alma catalogue users.

  17. In Primo VE add the ability to control the information displayed in the Details service of the Full Record Display where the title is on a L

In Primo VE add the ability to control the information displayed in "Course List" field in the Details service of the Full Record Display where the title is on a Leganto reading list.
OTB the following data elements are displayed: Cource code; Reading List title; Course department; List owner (?).
We would like to ability to control which data elements are displayed.
This development would bring VE in step with Primo.

    Ejemplo: https://fama.us.es/discovery/browse?vid=34CBUA_US:VU1&browseQuery=historia%20de%20espa%C3%B1a&browseScope=subject.1&innerPnxIndex=-1&numOfUsedTerms=-1&fn=BrowseSearch

  19. Make user-created tags keyword searchable.

Currently, user-created tags are findable via the tag portal in the Ellipsis, or they can be searched in the Advanced Search by specifying the tag field. We would like to be able to make them keyword searchable in the basic search.
