How can we improve Primo?

  1. Add ability to control local record access information in Primo

    Primo managed via Back Office has powerful functionality to control access information in Primo for all our local records.
    This includes the aligned features of availability statements and Get It / View It by Delivery & Scoping rules, Links rules for all harvested data sources, and the option to build custom mapping tables for references in various rules, all of which can be married with top level facets by Facet rules.

  2. Add editing functionality to labels/tags created in My Favorites

    Currently, there is no way to edit a label created in My Favorites to organize items you have saved/Pinned to My Favorites. It would be helpful to be able to edit typos or make adjustments to the label as needed, without have to reassign items.

  3. Create search alerts for results obtained from selecting a "view sources citing this" link from an original article

    Our users would like to be able to track when new citations are added to a list of sources derived from the "view sources citing this" feature.

    They suggest this could be done by creating a search alert to advise them of the changes.

  4. Feedback Tool for Primo VE - ability to disable categories

    For the Primo VE Feedback Tool, we would like to have the ability to disable the email form so that we can link instead to our existing form and chat service from the report.generalText bubble. Basically, we would have zero categories/issue types configured so that the email options would not be presented to the user. The user would only see the report.generalText bubble (see edited screenshot attached).

    Add the Zotero reference manager as an additional action link in the "Send to" section, just like Mendeley or EndNote.

  6. Translate coverage and licence labels for NZ full text services in IZ views

    PrimoVEs in our network use 4 languages for the user interface - English, German, French and Italian.
    Consortial and Open Access e-resources are activated in the Network Zone for all the IZs.
    When viewing Full-text services from NZ in the detailed view in IZs, the coverage and license labels are not translated to the language of the user UI.
    The absence of translation creates discrepancy for our users. The IZ FT services' labels are translated but the NZ services are always in English.

  8. Customise resource recommender results by selected facets

    It would be great if we could specify that particular recommended resources should be displayed on searches when a patron has selected particular facets.
    For instance, if the patron has selected the Resource Type facet to show Theses, or Videos, then we could recommend resources/databases that provide us with access to that type, or if a patron has selected a language, we could recommend resources that work with that language.

  9. Collection Discovery : Add a button "View this collection as search results"

    Beside the buttons to display a collection as a Grid or a Gallery, we would like to have a button to get the collection items in the result list, with the brief display and the facets. This could be a deeplink on the Collection ID with a "query=cdparentid" in the URL.

    Please note that there exist two very close ideas:

  10. Flexible Permanent URL for Retrieving New Books in Primo

    I'm interested in having a permanent URL that retrieves new books added to the library in the last two months through Primo. I would appreciate it if you could create a way to build a URL that allows to retrieve new books added to the library with a flexible date range (such as last 2 months, last 5 months, etc.).   11. Give customers the option to have a custom multilingual file for synonyms and compound words.

    We are a multilingual network, catering to four languages. It is very important to us to ensure that customers find the same resources regardless of the UI language they use. As one of our UI languages does not have a synonyms file, it is currently not possible for us to incorporate synonyms beyond those included by default in our Primo, as this would lead to differing search results for this language. We would like this to be solved by allowing customers to use a dedicated multilingual file for synonyms, compound words etc. that they can customize to their needs.

  13. My Library Card: Option to hide Personal Details

    It should be possible to hide Personal Details section under My Account in Primo VE.

    We are able to disable the labels in the following, but seems no option to hide the Personal Details section. Even if we disabled the labels for this tab, it is not completely disable from appearing or being clickable.

    1. Configuration > Discovery > Display Configuration > Labels > All code Tables > Library card Labels
    2. Configuration > Discovery > Library Card Configuration > Personal Details Configuration

  14. Searching an item corresponding to a specific record is not possible if not logged in to the IZ that owns this item

    If you are logged in an IZ A and you are searching a specific item belonging to a specific record, you will find it only if this IZ A owns this item. If you are logged in IZ B that does not own any item of this title, the holdings are merged into one or several records (deduped) and you cannot distinguish which item belongs to which record.
    Example:
    IZ A has 6 records of one title; each record has one item.
    In the IZ A, searching this title, you will find 6 records, each one with its item

  15. Give more weight to PMID in one-word PMID searches [Primo VE]

    In Primo VE, if a user wants to search for an article with a one-word PMID search (such as 22878467), the search will also match to articles in a journal with the ISSN 2287-8467, due to ISSN fuzzy matching. The issue arises in the brief result listing: currently the ISSN is given more weight than the PMID, pushing the relevant result to the very end of the list.

    In the above mentioned case, the user gets 18 results in total where the 18th is the one the user is interested in. Everything before it are articles from the journal with…

  16. Allow Database Facet/Filter/Limiter in Primo VE

    We would like the ability to filter results by database in Primo VE. For example, if someone searches "biology", but has been instructed to only use articles from our Academic Search Premier database, there would be a way to limit to both articles and the Academic Search Premier database.

  17. Preference of links from link resolver over link in record in brief results for merged records

    When one or more of the records in a merged group is coming from a collection using the link resolver, and other records are coming from collections using the link in the record, the link in record type of link is always displayed in the brief result list. It should be possible to choose to always display a link resolver type of link instead.

  18. Show amount of records of a Discover Import Profile

    In Alma it's not possible to use the adv search bar/jobs/analytics to list records from external data sources. We can see the records loaded in the History option of each profile execution. But to have a total, we would need to open one by one.

    Could it be possible to have the amount of records and MMS IDs of each discovery import profile available to see?

  19. Make ILL requests a Send To action in Primo records

    Add ILL Request to the cluster of Send to actions in the Primo record full display. This would send the citation to the institution's ILL form so a user could place a request for an item. This feature would give institutions the option of providing ILL services as a constant in records instead of being facilitated through services tweaked through a series of display logic rules which don't always produce desired results.   20. Give Us Feedback: control on which page the icon is displayed

    We would like to control on which page the new "Give Us Feedback" tool icon (May 2022 release) is displayed.
    We are using this tool only for reporting broken links. We need the icon only on the Full View of the search results, but currently, it must be displayed on all pages.
    Actually, most of the feedbacks from our users have been sent by accidentally clicking the icon on the Brief View of the search results, Primo VE home page, etc.
    So, it would be helpful if we could control on which page the icon is displayed.
