  1. Auto correct typos

Primo search should have the ability to auto correct common spelling errors and typos.

A current review of our zero result searches has shown that many zero result searches are typos and misspellings.
Users are used to systems that can auto-correct or suggest corrections for misspelled words.
Auto correct of typos would greatly improve the user experience.

  2. Penalization date visible in users' loan page

Hello! It would be great once we had read the bar code of the user, and we have the general information to do a loan or a return it will be great if there we can see the date until they can't borrow books. If not it is a problem because they ask you until when they are ban and we have to go until their profile to penalty section to see it.

    Thank you!

  3. Extend hypertext linking for Relation, Is Part Of, and Uniform Title to remote records

Enhanced hypertext linking for ispartof, relation, and unititle was introduced in the November 2017 Primo Release. These new fields joined existing hypertext linked fields for creator, contributor, and subject.
However, a key difference for the three newer fields is that they only show lateral links in the UI for local records. This limitation is hardcoded, and is confirmed but not explained (Case: 00486499).
Like many sites, we have configured our Primo environment without search scopes with a source-agnostic design, with the underlying premise that users do not care who owns an item or where the record comes from, only that…

  4. Primo Back Office: In a consortial environment, Ability to localize Alma collections to a specific instance of Primo

    Hello.

Our university system is in a consortial configuration of Alma and Primo Back Office.

Currently, we cannot use Alma collections because one university's (local and institution-specific) collections display in all other Primo instances in our consortia. This is problematic and confusing because a collection at University A displays in University B's Primo as if it were University B's collection. But the collection is local and specific to University A only.

The "collections" I'm talking about are described in the following Exlibris documentation: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/ProductDocumentation/010AlmaOnlineHelp(English)/040ResourceManagement/050Inventory/050ManagingCollections
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/ProductDocumentation/060BackOfficeGuide/060ConfiguringPrimo%E2%80%99sFrontEnd/050Collection_Discovery

  5. We would like patrons to be able to view their library barcode in Primo.

Under My Library Account > Personal Details, we think patrons should be able to view their library barcode number. We use ours in additional systems, and we think it would be helpful to point someone to their library account details.

  6. Provide option to collapse the Details area of the full record display

We would like to be able to collapse the Details area of the full record display by default in order to reduce clutter. This ability would be configurable ie libraries could choose whether to hide or show by default the Details information.

If configured, we would like to see the heading 'Details' beside a chevron or similar icon that indicates information is hidden. When the user clicks on this icon, the full bibliographic details will appear.

  7. Enhanced logo and help link for social authentication page

We are in the process of migrating to Alma/Primo VE. They both share the same social authentication page, and this idea is to enhance the options for this page.

1.) The Primo VE help links which are configurable in Alma config > Discovery > Authentication > User Authentication only appear in the Alma authentication option. If a new patron clicks Sign in, and then clicks Social Sign In, they will never see our help links. I would like to have the option to put a help link on the first Sign in modal page, or on the Social Authentication page…

  8. Search by abbreviation journal titles

We would like to search by abbreviation journal titles.
For exsample, "The Journal of Chemical Science" ="JACS"="J. AMER. CHEM. SOC.".
In SFX, we can do it, so I hope in Primo, too.

  9. "Load more results" button in My account / Loans / Previous and historic loans

In the same way as there is now a 'load more results' button in My favorites / Saved records, we would like to see a 'load more results' button in My account / Loans / Previous and historic loans.
    Thank you!

  10. Making the peer reviewed icon more accurate

Articles and journals are marked with the peer reviewed icon in Primo based on information extracted from Ulrichsweb (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Ulrich%27s/ProductDocumentation/Searching/Ulrichsweb%3APeer-ReviewedRefereedJournalsandAcademicScholarlyJournals).
The Peer Review indicator can only be set at the journal level at the moment. If a journal is identified as peer reviewed, or refereed in Ulrichsweb, all articles from this journal will be shown with the peer reviewed icon in Primo.
However, not all articles in such journals are peer reviewed, meaning the icon sends the wrong information to user, and that this label is not reliable. It can further…

  11. Improve the Alma linkresolver design to reduce the appearance multiple online links by a single provider in Primo/Primo VE search results

As a Primo user I would like to see a single link per provider for the content I discover, with the option to view additional links if I wish.

    Background
Primo search results deliver multiple links per provider for each search result. Our clients find this overwhelming.

We now use a custom linkresolver to bundle the multiple search result links to a single link from each provider. The option to view all links remains under a drop-down menu.

When we migrate to Primo VE the custom linkresolver will no longer work. We will return to the multiple links per provider…

  12. Adoption of W3C Accessibility Guidelines

The WCAG 2.0 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines should be adopted in research and discoverability systems to allow to people with disability have autonomy and full access to available research possibilities.

  13. Improve navigation behaviour for Contextual Relationships

With the current May 2019 design for related items by contextual relationships, when a user finishes looking at the related items and wants to the return to their search results, they are returned to the very top of the result list.

The only time this doesn’t happen is if they have used the pagination widget to navigate by page selection.

This is an extremely poor experience if the user has spent time working their way through a result list, and may be several pages deep, only to find that they have completely lost their place in the list.

  14. Resource recommender

Currently there isn’t any option to order resources other than alphabetically for the resource recommender.

We have control over the order that the ‘Types’ of resources display by (e.g. Databases, People, Websites …), but as all of our resources are databases, we are limited to the default sort.

Would like more flexibility on this.

  15. Make it easier to copy a call number

Please make it easier to copy the call number from a holdings record in primo.

The design of the holdings info in Primo prevents users from easily selecting/copying the call number. Since the holdings info is a link, clicking and dragging from left to right makes it impossible to select the call number. It is possible to click and drag from right to left (not intuitive for LTR languages), or to click through to the item and then select the call number (not discoverable).

See linked video for an illustration of the problem.

  16. Allow custom "Username" and "Password" labels when using multiple modes of authentication

For institutions using multiple modes of authentication (such as LDAP for externally-managed users and Alma for internally-managed users), it is not currently possible to customize the "Username" and "Password" labels to have custom labels display for each authentication method. The "User Login" code table only provides one field for customizing the username or password, which displays for all methods of authentication. It would be more helpful to all users (and particularly internally-managed users) if we could specify on the login page which information users should enter as their "username" and "password."

  17. Make search expansions for author names visible to end users

When performing an advanced author search, Primo returns results for associated pseudonyms. For example, an exact author search for J.K. Rowling returns results for the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. However, unlike with keyword search expansions, the user is given no indication that Primo is including results for related terms. This enhancement would make expanded author searches behave like other search expansions by providing proper notification and giving the use the option to exclude the expanded search results.

  18. Free text input should be blocked in Resource Sharing Form

When users request items with multiple volumes in the resource sharing form (NERS Enhancement - Request ID #4856), they can select a specific volume from the pull down list, also freely input any information in the text box. Errors of manual input may lead to inefficiency or failure of handling the requests, for example, user input “1” in the text box instead of selecting “v.1” from the list, the request can be created successfully, but information of requested volume cannot be shown in Alma, neither “Borrowing Requests” of Borrowing Library nor “Pick from shelf” of Lending Library, the libraries need…

  19. make sign-in reminder above items list sticky

for records with large numbers of items attached it would improve the user experience if the banner which reminds users to sign in to place requests was 'sticky' so that it was always visible no matter how far down the list of items they are. for instance, our staff have reported user confusion when browsing for a specific physicval volume of a long-running journal title - they eventually find the item they want but then don't know how to get it because there's no sign in option.

  20. Hierarchical labels for sub-collections in Collections hierarchy

When browsing the Collections hierarchy there is a separate label for top level collections and for sub-collections (at whatever level). We would like to be able to have separate labels according to values contained in the bib records. This would allow the different levels of a complex sub-collection hiearchy to be expressed appropriately: e.g. it would allow us to reflect transparently the structure of our archival collections: Collection - Series - File - Item. it could also allow the hierarchy of different types of collections to be expressed differentially.
