  1. CDI records: please provide us the ORCIDs in the PNX record in a usable form

Unfortunately, we have received the following case response: "We have reviewed your request with our content operations team and determined that our system is currently not designed to provide the functionality you requested, so the next step is to pursue this as an enhancement."
So we hope to get support for our proposal in the Alma community.

We are currently working on making the ORCID more visible in our Primo (incl. linking to the ORCID entry of an author).

We are glad to see that CDI records already contain the ORCIDs in the PNX record.
    Unfortunately, they cannot be used…

  2. Include Citation type as a configurable field in Purchase request form

When a purchase request is made from Primo selected in Citation type: Book, the order line that is created is of type Physical-One time, and cannot be modified.

It would be nice to modify this default configuration.

  3. Link generic checkbox in purchase request form to hold item function

We are using the purchase request form in PrimoVE. Is there a way to link the generic checkbox to the hold item function in the associated po line? So the hold item checkbox in the associated PO line is activated when the user checks the generic checkbox in the purchase request form? This would make it easier for us to manage purchase requests.

  4. Fix the CDI's match and merge process

The CDI's match and merge rules/filters need to be adjusted to prevent multiple ISBNs/EISBNs/DOIs from previous e-book editions from being added to the current edition's record, which frequently breaks OpenURL linking to the correct edition. This particularly affects targets like OREILLYONLINELEARNINGACADEMICPUBLICLIBRARYEDITION in SFX.

  5. Enable the Hebrew Acronym file in CDI

I would like the Hebrew Acronym file to work in the same manner for local and remote records and enable the correct retrieval of records with any of the many Hebrew words that are comprised of initials (eg פלמ"ח, תנ"ך, תשנ"א, אדמו"ר, בג"ץ, רמב"ם, מפא"י…….).

Currently, searching a term either with or without the " sign will retrieve the term both with and without the quotation sign (") but ONLY for local records. Until this will work in CDI, many remote records will not be retrievable when searching terms that can be written in both ways (with or without the…

  6. Field for MeSH-terms in CDI bib records to make it possible to search in advanced search

MeSH-terms, primarily from PubMed, in CDI bib records are mixed with other subjects. Create a subject field for MeSH-terms and make them posisble to search via advanced search.

  7. CDI indexing non-published "articles"

We are having an issue of posts to the journal/magazine's website being added to our discovery instance as a result of CDI. The linking for these items inevitably fails as the item is not actually part of the journal/magazine and was never published as part of it.

We would like to ask for such items to be excluded from CDI indexing.

An example of an article with this problem: https://thediplomat.com/2020/08/was-your-face-mask-made-using-forced-labor-in-china/

Include the DOI in the BibTex export from Primo

Would it be possible to add the doi field? I know doi isn't a standard field in BibTex, however it would be very useful and is requested by our users.

  9. Support of CRediT - the Contributors Role Taxonomy within the article and local indexes

120 journals are now fully supporting this NISO standard (NISO Z39.104-2022) for authorship and roles (https://www.niso.org/standards-committees/credit). We believe this emerging standard will allow additional search functionality for authors who have played different roles within the construction of the scholarly article. Over 50 publishers have adopted this taxonomy across their publications (Elsevier, etc.)

  10. Publish synonym list for hosted non-VE customers in Primo documentation

It was announced in the Primo mailing lists during August 2021 that the list of synonyms for Primo VE had now been added to the documentation page.

The equivalent documentation for non-VE Primo customers such as us is at:

    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/Primo/Technical_Guide/120Linguistic_Features/040Synonyms#ww1052488

As hosted customers, however, we still can't see the contents of the synonym files as described, as we don't have that sort of server level access. Therefore we are unable to determine:

    (i) whether the non-VE synonym list bears direct comparison to the VE list,

(ii) if it does not, where the differences lie.

Significant staff time is taken up…

  11. Incluir Miniaturas portadas Primo

  13. Add permalinks to Resource Sharing Form

When a user submits a RS request for an item in Primo, it would be helpful to have a permalink as part of that form. There is a "Source" field, but that isn't helpful in tracking down the original record the user was on. If the metadata in the request doesn't parse into the form correctly (which it sometimes doesn't for less common material types) and the user failed to add more detail, it would be helpful to have the permalink.

  14. Deliver more accurate faceting of search results by improved use of PNX metadata

Can Ex Libris please look into a system whereby one content type can be privileged over another, supporting more accurate faceting of search results.

    BACKGROUND
We recently discovered a number of CDI records incorrectly displayed the generic TEXT RESOURCE label for journal articles. It seems these records have been supplied by third party suppliers whose policies dictate that their metadata will not be updated, even upon request (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Summon/Content_Corner/Knowledge_Articles/Summon%3A_Fixes_to_Aggregator_Content_Data).

In many cases the PNX metadata provided indications as to what these really were, even though the allocated resource type was TEXT RESOURCE.

  16. Provide system performance metrics

The Ex Libris Systems Status page only provides simple up/down and planned maintenance information. While this is important, it does not help with other issues, such as slow response time.
We would like to have access to system performance metrics, including volume of API calls and response time. This could be set up as more detailed information linked from the system status page, or perhaps as reports in the analytics system.

Although I'm entering this as a primo improvement, it applies to all hosted products.

  17. 776 first indicator and display

The first indicator for the 776 field specifies whether that field should be displayed or not. I added some 776 fields with a first indicator 1 (do not display note) yet this field is displaying in Primo. I would suggest that when 776 is used with a first indicator 1, this field does not display in Primo as per MARC (see link below)

    https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd776.html

  18. Ability to see full bib info in Collection Discovery Resource Editor

    Greetings,

We are using Collection Discovery to highlight new and significant items in the collection for medical specialties and topics, but the Collection Resource Editor doesn't show the pub date, making it hard to main maintain meaningful and up-to-date title lists. I'm talking about this (see attached). It would be helpful to see the publisher and pub date.

  19. Increase Primo search capability to support major common search expansions on synonyms.

    Salesforce case #00583901 refers (unpublished)

Ex Libris advises that, due to performance considerations, Primo search is unable to support the search expansion for the spelling variants that include the use of 's' or 'z' within a word. This is a common trans-Atlantic spelling variation, and omitting it has a significant impact on search results.

Example: a search for the terms “practice globalisation” produces 441,248 results, but by changing the 's' in globalisation to a 'z', Primo produces an additional 12,000 search results.

  20. Different identification system depending on the view

In our university we have a pending important problem to solve:
    - In order to solve some Primo cases in which the user has to be identified, Exlibris technicians ask us for credentials to be able to analyze and solve the cases but logically, for security reasons, we should not give our personal credentials to anyone.
    - Our user authentication is through SAML so all of our users are external in Alma.

    • The Systems Department of our university requires that in order to create a user in the system (external to Alma), the responsibility for that account must rest with…
