  1. A new design for the homepage of ALMA

It would be really lovely if the homepage to ALMA was colourful and bright with easy access to the major functions we use in the library. For example there could be a homepage that has different bubbles (5 in a circle with one in the middle for example) and people can drag and drop their 6 most used icons. For library assistants this would be super useful if we could open ALMA and instantly be able to issue / return books / search for a service users name / card number for easy access. It would also be great if…

  2. Toggle Provenance Codes for Display

I'd like to propose an enhancement that allows provenance codes to be disabled/hidden instead of exclusively being deleted when they are no longer needed.

Currently, provenance codes can't be "hidden" from selection if they are no longer needed. Once a provenance code is not used, it can only be deleted and then any items with that code previously assigned are left with a single character from the code and "not listed".

We use provenance codes to note grant-funded resources, but once the grant is used up, we'd like to remove the provenance code option so it doesn't clutter up the…

  3. Index MODS fields

The documentation on this page (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/Metadata_Management/180Search_Indexes) suggests that MODS fields are not currently included in many internal search indexes. We would like to see MODS fields included in applicable internal indexes, or (if such indexing is already in place) better documentation of this indexing.

  4. Provide ability to turn off the display of Related Records in Alma

Our staff find the appearance of related records in Alma that appear as part of a search result to be distracting and add no value. I'd like to suggest that we get the ability to configure whether these related records appear at all.

  5. See the same information in Monitor Requests & Item Process menu that is seen in Borrowing Requests menu

It would be helpful to see the same information in the different places a staff member might check to see the status of a patron request. In the attached document, you'll see that there is much more useful information in the borrowing requests menu, including the preferred pickup location which is a critical detail. Can we have the same info display in both?

  6. Printouts Queue: Include more info in printing queue display

Idea: Include bibliographic or request information in the display of the Printing queue. (E.g. An additional column that displays Title and/or Internal/External identifier).

Rationale: There may be multiple desks/people scanning in requests at different times; it would be helpful to be able to see which item a letter was referring to at a glance. This information is available from the "preview" option, BUT, it takes a lot of time and clicks to open each to see if it should be printed or reprinted.

  7. Allow lending RS locate process to fail if it cannot determine which volume from a multi-volume set is being requested

Currently, Alma's lending locate process will automatically select a single volume from a multi-volume set if it can't determine which specific volume is being requested in a title level lending reqeust. It often selects the incorrect volume, and that error is rarely caught before the incorrect volume arrives at the borrowing library. It would be very helpful if the lending locate process failed in these scenarios rather. That would give library staff the opportunity to manually review the reqeust and select the correct volume.

  8. When a hold expires, have them display in the task list

In the same way that requests show in the task list, it would be helpful that when the hold is expired that it will also show in the task list. People would see on their desktop if an item needs to be shelved or returned to a campus library, instead of remember to check the Expire Hold shelf.

  9. Subject Index search: the comparison is not to contain a certain string but the entire field

PrimoVE enriches the search with terms from the 150 or 450 fields of the authority record when searching by subject index. Still, we would need the match not to contain a certain character string but to match the entire 150 or 450 fields with the subjct being searched for with an exact search in PrimoVE.
This would prevent subjects sharing part of the string (but not all) from appearing in an exact subject search in PrimoVE.

For example, if we search for records on "Right to life" in Subjects index, Primo VE also retrieves records on "Right to private life"…

  10. when importing, create portfolio links *after* Process / Normalization Rules ( NR ) are applied (and not before as it is now)

Right now static links in portfolios can be derived form 856 tags in imported MARC records.
Sometimes however we need to manipulate those links to fit the needs of our institution. We could do that easily with a process based on a Normalization Rule (NR) defined in the import profile. But this doesn't work, since our changes to 856 are not considered by Alma when creating the Static links in Portfolios. Our best guess is that static links are created before NR/process are applied and not after. That's a pity.
It would be great if static links were extracted from…

  11. Allow conditionals and general messages to be sent to and received from ILLiad ISO resource sharing partners

The SUNY system has started sending resource sharing borrowing requests dircectly to a non-SUNY library's ILLiad via an ISO ILLiad resource sharing partner. Things are going well for the most part, but we're unable to pass general messages to ILLiad, and we're unable to receive conditional messages from ILLiad. Could you please work with Atlas Systems on allowing these messages to be passed between systems?

  12. "in process items"

On the 'In Process Items' screen, the default search currently is Title. Many library staff members search via barcode and others via Title. It would mean one less click if the default search can be either changed to All or that whichever search index the staff select that it becomes sticky so that they don't have to reselect.

  13. Webhook for Library Hour Changes

It would be great if a event could be created that would fire a webhook when a librarys hours change.

The use case for this is when we use a 3rd party system that pulls hours out of Alma, we want to be able to know the hours have changed and perform a sync sooner than say 72 hours later (or whatever interval) when the outside system refreshes automatically.

This would be useful when we close do to inclement weather or something, so we could trigger updating our 3rd party system after the hours are updated in Alma.

  14. Hold Notification letter. With resource sharing, that the notice comes from the library that has the item on hold for pickup.

Because hold notification come from the lending library that has supplied the item, patrons are confused and do not always open and read the notification for directions. Having the hold notification come from the borrowing library where the item actually is waiting on the hold shelf for pick up would clear up the confusion of who has the item.

  15. auto populate the end date for an invoice

When entering a date range for a subscription, it often crosses into the next fiscal year. Having to select the year before you use the drop-down to select the month and day adds a lot of clicking. It is rare to have a subscription that isn't one year in length. It would save a lot of time and clicks if the end date (1 year later) would auto-populate.

  16. Saving Queries on the Community Zone

Please, let us save queries on the Community Zone as a logical set.

It is well understood that no one but Ex Libris is supposed to be able to run jobs on the CZ data and most likely that is why you currently cannot save a query on the Community Zone as a set. However, saving queries can often serve as just a shortcut for submitting a (more complex) query again and again, and for electronic resource librarians it is interesting to check the CZ regularly for newly added collections which are freely available, e.g., or adhere to any other…

  17. Add Close Caption file information to Alma Analytics

We need to report on the status of our digital collection, including which videos are close captioned. This data is not available in Alma Analytics. How hard would it be to add this to the "Digital Inventory" table?

  19. Provide better bib relinking functions

Provide better relinking functions. For example, when I need to move all the items (with multiple holdings) to another record, I need to transfer one holdings record at a time. It would be nice to be able to select the holdings records we want to move and relink them one time. Also when we are moving course reserve holdings from a short bib record to a full bib record the reading list does not update to the full bib record. I have to go into the reading list and remove the old bib and attach the new bib record to…

  20. Add preferred pronouns field to contact people tab information in vendor

In the 'Contact people' tab of a vendor record, there is currently no option to add the preferred pronouns of an individual. There are preferred name and gender options but no where to record the pronouns they prefer.

vendor interface > Contact people > Add contact > Contact details.
