  1. Use 041 subfields $$p, $$q and $$r in Search Index Mapping

    From the April 2019 update of Alma onwards, the Metadata Editor now recognises the following subfields in the 041 (language code) field:

    $$p - language code of captions,
    $$q - language code of accessible audio,
    $$r - language code of accessible visual language (non-textual)

    These were all added to MARC during 2018.

    According to the MARC 21 Bibliographic Tag to Search Index Mapping table (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/040Metadata_Management/180Search_Indexes/050MARC_21_Search_Indexes), the contents of these subfields do not as yet map to an advanced search of the Language (Title) index in Alma.

  2. A "not needed before" date for requests

    As well as "not needed after" a particular date, it would be helpful if we could distinguish the requests that are "not needed before" a particular date.

    We have closed stack and offsite requesting and it would help to organise the requests if we could order requests that are not required today, tomorrow or by a particular date. It would be especially helpful to PRINT this date in the request slip so that it is obvious to staff fetching items and their supervisors delegating work.

  3. Allow for multi field searching in Borrowing Requests or a Keyword search that allows you to search patron and request details

    To find a resource sharing request more easily allow searches to be across multiple fields. e.g Robertson cancer nursing. Searching Robertson as the patron and cancer nursing as keywords in the title.

  4. Receiving items without creating a barcode by location

    We have a location for our current periodicals. We check in a current issues here but will normally not add a barcode to these item records. We looked for a way to set this location to not ask about creating a new item without a barcode. We found a seeting in Acquisitions -> Receiving Department Validations, which can be set as not check if item has a barcode. But it will remove barcode validation from ALL locations.

    That is not what we need. I would want to make sure that books being received get barcode validation and bound periodicals as…

  5. batch deletion marc fields

    After I define a set based on invalid URLs I would like to delete only those invalid URLs from their bib records. There is a job to delete all vendor 856 fields but many records have both valid for me and invalid for me 856 fields. For example if I define a set using find in electronic location note Stanford* I have to manually go through each record to delete the Stanford* links because I am not Stanford. If I could export the URLs, view them, and then automatically have Alma remove them from their respective bib records it would…

  6. Allow "not" in subject authorities searches

    It would be helpful to be able to include NOT in subject authority searches. This would be particularly helpful when eliminating terms containing certain subdivisions.

    For example, I searched the keywords "children" and "religious" and I know that I don't want anything with the subdivisions "religious life" or "religious aspects", so being able to add NOT "life" or "aspects" would narrow my results down to something more manageable than the 150ish that I got.

  7. Radio button in 'list of holdings' page

    During the last Alma release the radio button on the list of holdings page was moved to the right. Please move it back to the left or make its position customizable.

  8. Allow filtering of the task list by invoice number

    This will enable a more streamlined workflow. All the tasks on an invoice number can be quickly identified without needing to enter each individual title.

  9. MARC or DC format in ALMA makes any differnce in primo represenation?

    While ingesting the exam papers in alma D from an institutional repository,
    which format would need to be considered MARC or DC? Would DC
    format will appear in Primo same as like MARC? or it will represent differently in primo?
    Please let me know the Pros and Cons of both formats from all points of view.

  10. Untraced references showing as valid subject headings

    Authority records with 008/09 of "b" shouldn't be showing as authorized headings. These are untraced references not authorized headings. (I found this on the record with LCCN sh 85038380)

    Form https://www.loc.gov/marc/authority/ad008.html :
    b - Untraced reference
    100-15X field contains an unestablished heading that is not authorized for use as the element in an access point in a bibliographic record. The heading is not traced as a 4XX See From Tracing field in any other authority record. The reference record contains a Complex See Reference (260) or a General Explanatory Reference (666) field to guide the user to established heading(s).

  11. when convert resource sharing request to purchase request - having default settings

    Currently when a resource sharing request is changed to a purchase request our doc del team have to change the same settings everytime. It would be better if we could set defaults on this process, so this team doesn't have to keep changing the same settings.

  12. New Metadata Editor: highlighting options vs filter/search options

    In the left pane of the New Metadata Editor in the list of edited records, filter options and the search option "Search in list" are actually superfluous for everyday cataloguing work in the New Metadata Editor. In my opinion, they only make sense when systematically processing a large number of records (sets). It should be possible to collaps/expand them.

    However, it would be helpful if individual entries could be highlighted in the navigation bar, e.g. in colour or with a symbol. This would make it possible to find a particular recording very quickly, e.g. if several recordings with homonymous titles…

  13. New Metadata Editor: collapse pop ups on mouse hover in list of records

    On mouse hover on a record in the left pane on an entry/record opens pop-ups, which also covers a part of the editor window. In general, it should be possible to activate/deactivate pop-ups according to individual needs.

    In repository search (and elsewhere) when you push a record to the new MDE it is possible to collapse these messages by default.

    Please offer an option to collapse the pop ups on mouse hover in the list of records of the New Metadata Editor as well.

  14. Add more scheduling options for Integration Profile

    In Alma Configuration > General > External Systems > Integration Profiles > Actions Tab > Synchronize > Schedule,
    is it possible to add an additional schedule time, such as "Every day at 08:00" ?

    In order to meet our daily operations, many of our colleagues request integration profile job runs between 7:30 to 9am. The options right now doesn't work for us. I am wondering if we can add a schedule option at 8am or offer a drop-down list where users can choose a certain day/hour for integration profile job?

  16. Hope to have a separate Read-Only privilege for Users' contact information

    The role "Circulation Desk Operator - Limited" lost the priviledge to check user's contact information after July release. To protect users' privacy and manage data, we cannot assign "privilege : User Manage Update" to this limited role as it has right to change customer's information. However our librarians will need to check users' contact information frequently at the Circulation Desk. Requesting the contact information from higher level librarian will reduce the efficiency.

    We hope to have a separate Read-Only privilege for Users' contact information, then we could assign this privilege to limited role based on our workflow.

  18. New Metadata Editor - Search Resources, Merge Preview

    In the new metadata editor, when you search external resources and select merge preview you cannot see this record next to the one that is already in the system. This is due to the fact that the "Search Resources" box remains active. In order to compare the records you really need to see them side by side. This was possible with the old metadata editor. Please see attached screenshots.

  19. Add Licensing Agent field to results info

    It would be beneficial to have the Licensing Agent field included in the columns when viewing results in license searches. Currently the License Code is present, but including the Licensing Agent field would be very useful.

  20. Change the way the Receiving Note is updated in the Update PO Lines Information job

    Currently this job fully replaces the information in a receiving note. We would prefer that the job either append or pre-pend the information we would like to add to a receiving note. It is usually not a one for one replacement, but rather a common detail of additional information we need to add. Often, we can't use the job, since we still want any information already in the note to remain there.
