  1. Please leave me signed in at my library.

There is no point in timing us out of our specific library. It is super annoying to come back to my desk and find that ALMA has kicked me out of my library and that I have to select it again---the only library in the list of options, btw, making it pointless for me to "choose a library" in the first place. There's only one! Please turn that off. It is a bug, not a feature of the program.

  3. Initiate a physical item request on behalf of a Fulfillment Network patron

At minimum, add the ability to search Fulfillment Network (FN) patrons in the Requester field of a Physical Item Request, like we can in Manage Patron Services, Return Items, and Scan in Items.

Use case: one of our patrons requests an item from Interlibrary Loan (or from our shelves, but we discover the item is missing), and we want to convert that to a Fulfillment Network request. Currently, we have to contact the patron and direct them to Primo, where they must find the item at a FN library and place the request themselves. To make things more seamless for…

  4. Make "Automatically print slip" toggle available when scanning in Fulfillment Network items

When we receive requested items from Fulfillment Network libraries via Scan In Items, the hold slip doesn't print because the "Automatically print slip" option disappears as soon as we select the "Item from another institution" checkbox. We would like the "Automatically print slip" toggle to remain available regardless of which institution's item we're scanning. The option was added to the Resource Sharing Receiving Items screen in 2017, and it seems logical (and necessary) in this situation as well.

  5. Dynamically create statistical category and type specified in the user xml notice imported from SIS

The user.xsd xml shema contains statistical category an type description.

    <userstatistics>
    <user
    statistic segmenttype="External">
    <statistic
    category desc="STAPS">
    4200013
    </statisticcategory>
    <category
    type desc="Code SISE">
    BSISE
    </categorytype>
    </user
    statistic>

However, when imported from SIS, il the category and type in a user.xml file imported from SIS does not already exist in Alma configuration tables, it is not imported in the statitistical type specified.

In the example below, category 4200013 and its description STAPS, type BSISE and its description Code SISE required to have been already created in Alma configuration tables.

If its not the case, the category 420003…

  6. Automate Manage Digital Representations in reading lists

When processing reading lists we sometimes have two citations in the same list which reference different chapters or page ranges for the same BIB record (i.e. two digital representations on the same BIB).
We understand that if we want to only display the relevant chapter for each citation then we have to use 'Manage Digital Representations' which we turn on by changing the Customer Setting displaydigitalrepresentations to false. Otherwise both (or all) will display for each citation.

But this means we have to manage the digital representation for EVERY citation with digital representations that are linked to a…

  7. Shipping cost lender rule partner code prefix

When setting up the Shipping Cost lender rules, there is no ability to add a rule that allows you to adjust the price based on the partner code prefix. Currently you have to add every partner to that list, and when partners are added or removed you need to manually recreate the parameter list again. (Because you can't edit the parameters, only delete.) Having to manually update these rules is unnecessary work, and the alternative is to manually edit the costs for every partner that doesn’t fit the standard code rules. These issues, and the errors caused by manual editing…

  8. Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests back button

For some reason the Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests screen does not have a back button or a method of clearing the search. Even if you quick link the screen the link takes you to the search you have just done. It would be extremely useful to have a back button or a method of clearing the search.

  9. Change Physical Item Job should ignore default MARC holdings template when changing location

Also entered as NERS ID 5949 for Next year's enhancement process cycle

When using the Change Physical Items job to change an item's location, we are running into problems because of the way Alma processes this job. Alma creates a new holding with the same data as the original holding and reattaches the items to this new holdings record. If all items are changed to the new location, the original holding is deleted. When creating the new holding, Alma uses the default MARC holding template. Our default is set with 852 indicator 1 set to 1 for Dewey Decimal classification,…

  10. Configuration option to default brief citation placement to either Network or Institution

Currently when creating a brief citation for course reserves, the default option is to place the citation in the network zone. It would be better if the default placement was configurable. It's easy to overlook this option and we never want to put our brief citations in the network zone, but end up doing so inadvertently many times.

  11. Should be prevented from saving a bib or holdings record where a non-repeateable field/subfield is repeated.

One specific example which just came to light while testing something is the holdings 852 field, which (unlike the bib 852) is NOT repeateable. Alma does not generate an alert in the ME and will save the record with the repeated field (tracking ID E05-2906180135-S9VHD-GENERAL)

  12. Make Linking Levels in Service Record more general

The Linking Level in the service record is a hierarchy clearly designed for journals. Books are thrown in as an afterthought, and there is no room for streaming media. The hierarchy would be improved by making it independent of media type. Change the linking levels in the following way:

    Change "Article" to "Article/Chapter"
Change "Article DOI" to "Article/Chapter DOI"
    Change "Issue" to "Issue/Part"
    Leave "Volume" the same
Combine "Journal" and "Book" into "Work (Journal/Book/Media)"
    Change "Database" to "Database/Collection"
    Leave "Citation" the same

This would accommodate collections which contain streaming media, and collections which contain more than one format, such as…

  13. Refresh button on manage sets page

Please add a refresh button on the Manage Sets page. If a new set is created, it won't show up until I've reloaded the manage sets page. Something similar to the button on the Monitor and View Imports page would be great.

  14. Use Pieces field from item record to trigger a confirmation pop-up at checkout or return

Use the Pieces field from item records to trigger a confirmation pop-up at item checkout or return when that item has two or more pieces. Taking measures for prompting staff to add notes manually item-by-item or creating sets and running jobs to populate fulfillment notes for items that have 2,3,...9,10,...39,40,... pieces are both impractical. Not having a pieces confirmation at checkout feature is a frequent complaint on the Alma Listserv.

  15. Ability to Modify Purchase Request Role

Our Library would like to be able to allow the purchase request form be limited by role, so that only some subset of our staff may begin the purchase request process.

  16. Add Description to Standard Openings Hours in Calendar Management

During implementation standard opening hours were entered with the days of the week in the description column. When users edit or add standard opening hours, the description column is not available. It would help if we could enter the day in the description column.

  17. Alma RS Borrowing - view the patron ID (primary identifier) number in the main body of a borrowing request

When you edit a borrowing request you can't see the patron ID number in any of the fields. It is only seen when you come out of editing a request and view the details next to the Request name. It should be seen with the request information.

  18. copy opening hours between libraries

Since many libraries within an institution have the same exceptions to regular operating hours due to holidays and institution changes, please set up a way to copy the hours AND EXCEPTIONS from one library to another.

There are over 50 entries in the calendar management of opening hours to account for our annual changing hours with breaks, holidays, finals, intersessions, and semesters. Currently I must enter these 50+ entries for each library. Having a way to copy from one library to another would save hours of work.

  19. Users remove blocks

It would be usefull for an operator to delete selected blocks in the tab block of an user card in the same way of fines/fees, marking them and delete them in one go.
This idea because the operators can't run the job "Users - Remove Blocks".

We think especially at those libraries where users are not always on time to return books and deleting them individually it's a waste of time.
it is not nice to delete blocks one by one.
It would be better if the operator could mark blocks and delete them in one go.
