  3. Choose which material types can be set to auto-active

We propose that the "Activate new portfolios associated with service automatically?" setting for portfolios in an electronic service be more granular. In electronic collections that contain multiple material types, we would like to be able to select which material types be activated automatically. We've found the bib records for some material types aren't as good as others, and prefer to obtain them from other sources. But for some material types, such as journals, we would like to the CZ records.

  4. Clearer displays for different types of Borrowing Requests

Borrowing Requests could use some greater detail and variability in the information fields that display when viewing them in the overall list of current requests. For example, in Borrowing Requests for book chapters (typically "digital format" requests for items with a "book" type), the "Chapter Title" field is hidden in the "Other details" tab; this field would be more immediately visible and helpful to staff if it displayed alongside other standard fields (ex: MMS ID, External Identifier, Partner, Requested Format, etc.) before clicking into "Other details". In addition, when a request specifies an article from a journal, the request's title…

  5. Allow sorting by local call number (09X) MARC fields in Physical Titles and Physical Items searches

We use the 090 and 099 for local call numbers, but Alma doesn't include 09X fields in its search indexes by default; as a result, they're not included in call number sorting in Alma or Primo, and we lack the ability to add them even after we enable them as search indexes. Adding these as options to call number sorting would enable fuller searches by staff and users respectively.

  6. Show linked purchase requests in 'Other details' beneath title record

It would be great if purchase requests that are linked to titles could be accessible via other routes rather than just the 'Manage purchase requests' section. Please could purchase requests that are attached to a title and a POL be added to the 'Other details' section beneath a title record in a repository search? This would allow us to quickly ascertain which titles have purchase requests linked to them.

  7. Add Course Information within Purchase Request to PO Line

It would be very helpful if the details within the 'course information' section of a purchase request fed through to the POL and was visible within the 'Notes' tab of the POL. This would enable staff dealing with the orders to have all the required information in one place and would also make the audit trail more robust.

  8. Add an option to search the repository by "Assign to" cataloger / operator

Currently there is no way to know which records are assigned to a certain user except for the "assigned to" note indication. We need a way to retrieve the records that were assigned in order to restore them back to the users' MDE, in case they dissappeard from the opened records pane. See full usecase in SFC#00957311.

  9. Add "Description" to list of available fields in the POL "Ordered Items" section

In the POL's Summary tab, the "Ordered Items" section near the top has entries for each item received on the order. These entries have the following viewable options by default, presumably drawn from the item record's data fields: Library, Location, Call Number, Copy ID, Summary, and Number of Items. Ex Libris notes that "Description" can't currently be added to this list of selections, even though this is also a field associated with the item, and visible alongside them when viewing the item record itself. Having "Description" also available as an option in the POL would help to provide more information…

  10. Auto-tick Notify User box in Request Cancellation dialogue on Alma

Is there a way to set the ‘notify user’ box within the Request Cancellation dialogue box (Alma) to auto-tick by default? At the moment, the box is blank and we would like to set it up to tick by default so that user notifications don’t accidentally get missed.

The box is within the Request Cancellation dialogue box where you enter the cancellation reason and notes.

  11. Add to the Purchase request's "Approve and Order" action an option to select a PO line template.

This idea was submitted on behalf of Alma's Product management team as we would like to understand the need and use cases of the idea's description below - any comment is welcome.

Currently it is possible to save PO line as a template and utilize this template any time a new order is created (using the designated "Load from template") option (see attached image 1).

The suggested idea is to allow users the option to choose a relevant PO line template when approving a purchase request (see attached image 2), this will allow the PO line created from the purchase…

  12. Receiving Note - Ability to see when the note was last modified and by who

It would be great if there was a way to see which operator added Receiving Note and when the note was added. We are trying to go through and update receiving notes, and are coming across some that we would like to get answers for. However, we aren't sure who placed the note in the first place and it could have been years ago.
Being able to see who modified the receiving note last and when it was created would allow us to follow-up with the appropriate people or realize they no longer work with us, and move forward on…

  13. Report list of records changed after abort job

After a user was running a discovery suppression job, and aborted they assumed nothing was changed. It would be very useful if the records that were changed before the abort were reported to the user.
Here's an example showing an abort that occurred and the user running the job assumed since they aborted the job, nothing was changed:

  14. Generate accession number by typing directly in field 852

Generation an accession number in 852$$h or $$j can only be done by using the menu (Tools -> MARC21 holdings -> generate accession number), or by keyboard shortcut (ctrl+schift+A) in the new MDE.
Even though the keyboard shortcut saves some clicks, we would like to type the prefix directly in field 852, followed by a character like # for example, that would indicate to Alma to generate the sequence number after saving the holding record.

    Example : 852 $$b library $$c location $$h RIA #
-> after saving the record :
    852 $$b library $$c location $$h RIA 6785

    If…

  16. Add Last Login attribute to Users subject area in Analytics

The current Staff Login Report in Alma Configuration is of limited use, in that it doesn't provide additional details about users beyond Primary ID and last login date. In Analytics, we can find full details about named users, but cannot determine which accounts are actively used without the "Last Login Date" field.

We would like to see the Last Login Date--i.e., the last date a user logged in to Alma to perform staff activity--added as an attribute to the Users subject area in Analytics. Having this date along with users roles and expiration dates will help our libraries better manage…

  17. Remove "Valid Until" in calendar entries

The current behavior in Alma is that any calendar entries have an effective date and a valid until date, that is automatically 3 years beyond the date the event was last edited.

The effective date does not in my mind serve any purpose and creates puzzling and frustrating situations for fulfillment services staff if the current date approaches any of these valid until dates, because patron loans will start being shortened, seemingly for no reason.

For exceptions, date ranges are called explicitly. For standard hours there either should be no valid until date, or this should be specified explictly, to…

  18. Openurl resolver to search CDI when no full text services found in Alma

Sometimes the Alma openurl resolver can't locate an item, but you can find it in the CDI, so could the openurl resolver search the CDI by title + authors for possible matches? Perhaps present any results as suggestions, a bit like bX recommendations, so as not to raise expectations that the correct document has been found.

Here's an example. JSTOR has a record for a paper that was published in print in SAE Transactions, ISSN 0096-736X, 2001, Vol.110, p.86-92
    https://www.jstor.org/stable/44724287

But the paper is published online as SAE Technical Paper 2001-01-0233, ISSN 0148-7191
    https://www.sae.org/publications/technical-papers/content/2001-01-0233/

It is available in SAE Mobilus…

  19. Allow additional CITATION TYPES for resource sharing requests

When creating a borrowing request from ALMA 'manually', the only options are BOOK and ARTICLE. The same is true from the 'blank resource request' form presented to patrons. It would be nice if we could support additional resource types, like video, audio, maps...or even just an "OTHER" option. With only book and article, it appears as though those are the only types of things that are requestable.

  20. Set Linking Parser Parameters at the Interface level

It would be more efficient to set the Linking Parser Parameters at the interface level, with an option to override the parameter at the Service Link level.

For example, I want to set our university's ProQuest clientid at the ProQuest interface level rather than have to open each of our 20+ ProQuest collections to edit the Service Link Parameters.
