  1. Additional Input Parameter Options for Item Description Templates

    When creating an Item Description Template it would be very helpful to include additional Input Parameter options such as Permanent Physical Location. We utilize different description orders on our labels dependent upon the different locations items are shelved and there doesn't seem to be a way to distinguish the differing order with the current parameter options. More input parameter options would allow for greater individual institutional nuances and their unique practices.

    For example, I could have an unclassed serial shelved in "serials" with material type issue and I want the description to display as:

  2. Ability to queue borrowing requests for a temporarily inactive partner

    Hi,
    For resource sharing, we use Alma partners with the ISO profile type that are part of the Libraries Australia Document Delivery (LADD) network.

    When partner libraries suspend themselves from LADD services, their Status updates in Alma to Inactive.

    However, sometimes a Library is the only possible lender of material. In these cases, we would prefer to wait until the Library becomes Active again, instead of trying to source a partner overseas (for us in Australia, time-consuming and much more expensive, plus challenges with postal delays).   3. Local Authority Automation and Workflow

    Currently, Alma requires quite a bit of manual intervention when creating local authority records and linking them to the relevant records in the catalog. In order to relink an authority controlled field (ie. 1XX, 6XX, and 7XX) someone from the library must go through and change the second indicators from 0 to 7 and add a $2 with the local authority profile code. This can be done using normalization rules but it still must be done manually. There are no scheduled jobs that will do this.

    An example might be helpful to both show the problem and a possible solution.

  4. Ability to combine two or more existing items into a kit without losing POL information

    If there's a way to do this, I can't find it.
    What I would like to have is to take existing/previously received items (presumably with their own barcodes) and then combine them under one barcode as a kit. In theory, you can use "Bond Items" to do this, but the problem is that you effectively lose your POL receiving info (as well as all other individual item info) from the combined items.   5. Ability to add option to see if line has invoice to POL summaries

    When looking at a list of POLs, it would be useful to see in the summary or be able to add to the customised summary view, if the item has been invoiced.

  6. Library opening hours - prolong the "valid to" field in bulk

    It would be very helpful to have a possibility to prolong library opening hours in bulk. We have more than 40 libraries and now the only possibility to prolong library opening hours is to open each line with opening hours, save it and run the "Apply changes" job. With so many libraries with many lines for opening hours in the library calendar will be this change for many hours of clicking.

  7. Make the Send Message emails more customisable

    Today it is possible to send messages to individual users from the General Information tab on the User Details screen, but the functionality is very basic. To be truly useful it should be possible to create your own templates and to customise them the same way we can customise Alma Letters. Without the usual letter components, such as a header with the institution logo, which are present in other Alma letters, the messages look unprofessional and can easily be mistaken as spam.   8. Allow automatic barcode generation in quick cataloguing form from Manage Patron Services

    The quick cataloguing form has a variant depending on whether you access it through Fulfillment > Manage Patron services > loan tab > create item or through Resources > add a physical item.

    In the first case (Fulfillment > Manage Patron services etc.), quick cataloguing is used in the case where a document is presented for loan but does not exist in the database. The barcode is then obligatory for loan, otherwise loan is not possible. The barcode cannot be automatically created.

  9. Allow patron to create "Alias" that prints to Ful Hold Shelf Request Slip Letter

    When item that has a request is returned at the circulation desk, a Ful Hold Shelf Request Slip Letter is printed. There is a Patron name on the Print.
    There should be a possibility for a Patron to choose an "Alias" (Name or Number) that would be printed to the Letter.

    This could be an Address -field that patron can update in Primo. Then it would be printed to the slip letter.

  10. List of Home Delivery Request to print labels and inform courier company

    We manage a big number of home delivery requests. Alma does not allow you to create a list of loans of home delivery to print labels and send the list to the courier company.

    The only way to do it is the day after by Analytics or developing a custom solution using webhooks and users API, to have it the same day.

    It is necessary to make a list of patrons name, address, zip code, city, telephone and email address to print labels and create a csv file to be imported to the courier company software.

  11. AFN Loans on library loans webhooks

    We manage home delivery requests. We need to print labels and generate a file of deliveries once a day with all loans.

    Alma did not provide a list of home delivery transactions the same day, you need to wait the next day to generate a Analytics report.

    We have developed a solution that makes a list using Loans Webhooks. Now we are using AFN (Automated Fulfillment Network) in our consortium and those transactions are not published on our Webhook, because books are from other institutions even though the loan was made in our system.

  12. Make address fields one of the searchable fields in user searches

    Addresses on a patron record (at least the preferred address fields) need to be a searchable field in the universal search box on the dashboard.
    We often find a need to on the fly find all the patrons who might come from a particular address.

  14. Create option to keep CZUTL deleted portfolios active in Institution Zone

    When portfolios are deleted from a non-auto-active electionic collection and notifications for this appear in the Community Zone Updates Task List, the portfolios stay unlinked in your institution zone but are deactivated. Often these are portfolios that represent access that still exists for the institution and we merely reactivate the local portfolio. We would like to be able to select an option to keep these portfolios active in our institution zone. If they are really no longer necessary, we can delete them when we review the CZUTL, but it would save us time if the portfolios were not deactivated automatically.

    Hello,

    Currently our Pick from Shelf has 4 options to sort the titles:

    Location Name- Asc
    Location Name - Desc
    Call Number - Asc
    Call Number - Desc

    I would like to see the titles sorted into alphabetical order.

  16. Openurl resolver to search CDI when no full text services found in Alma

    Sometimes the Alma openurl resolver can't locate an item, but you can find it in the CDI, so could the openurl resolver search the CDI by title + authors for possible matches? Perhaps present any results as suggestions, a bit like bX recommendations, so as not to raise expectations that the correct document has been found.

    Here's an example. JSTOR has a record for a paper that was published in print in SAE Transactions, ISSN 0096-736X, 2001, Vol.110, p.86-92

  17. Remove "Valid Until" in calendar entries

    The current behavior in Alma is that any calendar entries have an effective date and a valid until date, that is automatically 3 years beyond the date the event was last edited.

    The effective date does not in my mind serve any purpose and creates puzzling and frustrating situations for fulfillment services staff if the current date approaches any of these valid until dates, because patron loans will start being shortened, seemingly for no reason.

    For exceptions, date ranges are called explicitly. For standard hours there either should be no valid until date, or this should be specified explictly, to…

  18. Create a single field in Analytics to identify Open Access resources

    If I want to create a report for all of our activated OA resources, I have to use fields such as CDI Search Rights, CDI Full Text Rights, Service is Free etc. to capture all possible candidates and manually remove resources that are not really OA. It would be helpful to have a field that reliably identifies OA resources.

  19. Make the current publication location discoverable in Analytics

    When a record contains both a 260 and 264 field, Analytics will only display the publication location from the 260 field, which often isn't the current publisher's location if a publisher change has occurred. This is also inconsistent with how the publisher field works. The publisher field returns all publishers, separated by a semicolon, but publication place only returns the original publisher's location. Not returning all publication locations makes it difficult to do maintenance on the 260, 264, or 008 country code fields. It also doesn't allow you to accurately record collection development statistics by current country of publication.
