1. Add a note to patron field in Digitization Department

   It would be handy to have a way to include a note to the patron when fulfilling digitization requests. For example, a patron request chapters 1 and 17 from a 12 chapter book.

   I could process their request for chapter 1 and include a note saying "According to Fair Dealing guidelines we can only scan and send one chapter from this book. There is also no chapter 17 in this book so I've only included chapter 1."

   Or if the original material has been highlighted or scribble on I could attach a note saying "This marked-up version is the only copy the library has. If you would prefer a non-marked version, please make an interlibrary loan request. Contact email@school.com for assistance."

   These notes would be included in the email with the fulfilled digitization request. As it currently stands, I have to find the patron's contact information and send them a separate email referring to the digitization request if I have extra notes for them.

2. Add display options for item copy ID and volume numbering to list of patron's requests

   Currently when counter staff views the list of a patron's requested items at Fulfilment module, the list does not display the item copy and volume numbering. This makes it very inconvenient when the requested titles consist of multiple copies or volume numbering. Please consider adding these 2 display options.

3. Item barcodes on Pick from Shelf List

   We would like to be able to include item barcodes as a field on both the Pick from Shelf and the Print Slip reports. Since holds are placed on a specific item in almost all cases, it makes sense to be able to confirm you are retrieving the correct copy from the shelf. Many of our locations work in a way that requires them to search for specific items rather than simply by title or call number and having barcodes associated with holds would also make this work easier

5. Work Orders: package of required enhancements

   Work orders are useful but often cumbersome and don't work as required. A package of enhancements/fixes would make them much more useful and useable:

   • Adding notes when creating work orders in bulk. This would enable having fewer work order types as explanatory notes could be used instead.
   • Makes notes more (immediately) visible when scanning in (pop up message?). Again would enable fewer work order types as items could be easily catergorised according to explanatory note upon receipt at managing department.
   • Select recall/not recall at work order placement (like pick from shelf), not baked into type (and in selectable in bulk as well as individually).
   • Select/override priority level at work order placement (individual and in bulk)/make it easier to manually advance work orders in queue, AND:
   Different priority levels for different work order types.
   • Allow managing departments to manage multiple work order types (like circulation desks can) - increased versatility and flexibility.
   • Where circulation desks (and hopefully managing departments) manage multiple work order types, make it possible to view all in-process items and have work order type immediately visible.
   • Alert on scanning into work order managing department if higher priority work order/request exists.
   • Enable cancelling specific work orders/work order types in bulk (can currently only cancel all physical item requests on a set of items in bulk). This would improve versatility and flexibility.

   Realise this in not a single enhancement, but no single enhancement will make that much difference. The whole work order system needs to be looked at start-to-finish for real-world usability.

   Thank you for sharing your idea and for the strong support it has received from others.

   After reviewing the proposal, I’ve found that it currently lacks the level of specificity we need in order to move forward effectively. While the concept is clearly resonating with many, we require more specific context, use cases, or technical requirements to properly evaluate and implement it.

   Given these constraints, I’m afraid I won’t be able to take this idea on . That said, if you’re able to refine it further or provide more clarity around the intended outcomes, I’d be happy to revisit it in the future

6. Digitization Slips to automatically print

   We would like for the digitization slips to automatically print upon scan in of an item (like the slips print for Hold requests).

   At the moment it can be manually printed but we would like an opt in to automatically print.

   Our workflow is:

   Item placed on pick list, collected from shelf.
   Item Scan In
   If a hold, slip printed
   If a digitization, no slip, even if automatic print is ticked yes.

   As we have a number of sections within the library using the workflow, it is easier to print the slip and have all details on it rather than going into Alma to find the relevant information.

8. digitization request limits - Daily and to specific records

   We would like to be able to add limits to digitization requests. So that users can only request a specific amount of digitization's per day. And that specific user groups can only requests once or twice on a specific record. As making multiple requests on the same item can not be fulfilled due to issues for Copyright.

10. Add to the "Monitor Request" screen a filter which will allow users to see "Rejected and active" requests

    On behalf of the Product management team we would like to understand the need and use cases of the following Idea (which it's need was raised by a specific library) - any comment is welcome.

    When trying to delete a circulation desk user is notified: 'This circulation desk is attached to one or more requests and cannot be deleted'. User goes to the monitor request screen and does not find any request that prevents the desk deletion...

    The reason is that the request was rejected but it is still active (item was not scanned)

    Due to the fact the 'Monitor requests' screen does not present 'Active rejected' requests (not even in the 'All' filter), customer needs to approach EXL support to analyze the issue, find the request in the database and clear it.

    The need in this idea is to allow customers to see rejected requests which are still active in order to clear them. and potentially add an action that will clear the request without the need to physically scan the item.

    On behalf of the Product management team we would like to understand the need and use cases of the following Idea (which it's need was raised by a specific library) - any comment is welcome.

11. Add a View All tab to the Expired Hold Shelf Items View

    Add a View All tab to the Expired Hold Shelf Items View

    There is no way to view all expired holds on one screen.

    There is a workflow that recommends pulling all the items with expired holds off of the hold shelf and scanning in them in using Fulfillment > Resource Requests > Scan In Items. This action moves the item on to it's next step and had the added benefit of trapping items that have work orders and move requests on them.

    The benefit of this workflow is that it prevents an item that is due to go back on the shelf from being reshelved and then being immediately placed on the Pickup From Shelf list.

    With the current view, Alma users need to click on each tab on the Expired Hold Shelf Items view to see all of the items that need to be removed from the hold shelf.

    There should be an option to view all expired holds at once so that staff can see all items that need to be pulled no matter what each item's next step is. The next step will be identified when the items are scanned in.

12. More Options for Sorting in Pick from Shelf List

    It would be really helpful to be able to sort items in the Pick from Shelf list by date. The facets are somewhat helpful, but sorting by date would make it more clear which requests have come in more recently today, for institutions that are monitoring requests as they come in during the day.

    Sorting by some of the other facets would probably also be helpful when you don't want them filtered out, just sorted: location, pickup institution, material type, etc.

13. Limit the number of request per library

    Similar to how you can limit the number of request for a patron by group.

    If a library has limited resources (labor and materials) and can only serve so many of those request within a given term, it doesn't help to have a backlog, especially when interest in a given item will be lost over time. In helping libraries to mitigate demand it would be good to set a limit on the aggregate number of request received by a library. When the quota is reached then the requests option in Primo would grey out. or not appear. A label or messaging could be made available that advises users that capacity has been reached for the library.

    Enabling comments to the patrons in digitization (and physical too) requests.

15. Allow more configuration for library item of interest notification

    The "library item of interest" message currently doesn't allow much room for configuration, particularly for the bibliographic portion of the message. It includes something labeled a title field (which includes the title, place of publication and publisher, publication date, series, and ISBN) and an MMS ID field. This data seems to be pulled from the brief order record. Would it be possible to make this section of the notification more configurable -- so that more data (like author) might be included, and so that everything currently mapped to the "title" field could be disaggregated into individual fields (place of publication to its own field, publisher to its own field, etc.)?

16. A "not needed before" date for requests

    As well as "not needed after" a particular date, it would be helpful if we could distinguish the requests that are "not needed before" a particular date.

    We have closed stack and offsite requesting and it would help to organise the requests if we could order requests that are not required today, tomorrow or by a particular date. It would be especially helpful to PRINT this date in the request slip so that it is obvious to staff fetching items and their supervisors delegating work.

    We suggest to add an option to control the request types that are presented in Alma. For example, we would like to present only: "Patron physical item request" . It would be helpful if we could at least control the items order.

18. Add Shelving Location to "Monitor Requests & Item Processes"

    It would be extremely helpful to have the shelving location show up in the information on the "Monitor Requests & Item Processes" (MR&IP) lists. Neither "Pick from Shelf" (PFS) or MR&IP shows all of the most helpful information when fulfilling requests. The closest for our library's purposes is MR&IP with the only piece of information missing being the shelving location of items. If it could be added as an option or at least show up in the exported Excel sheet as a column that would remove a ton of extra time and labor for our fulfillment processes.

19. Changing the location after items are moved to Active Hold Shelf

    Changing the location after items are moved to Active Hold Shelf

    The location in the Active Hold Shelf item represents the location of the item when the request has been submitted. So, the location of all request that is created on when items are in the process of acquisitions, it’s not updated until the requestor loan it.
    It makes fulfillment staff confused because items look like not ready to loan.
    The best would be updating location after items are moved to the Active Hold Shelf.

20. Clearly show a patron's home campus when placing requests

    Occasionally we will need to place a 'Patron physical item request' on a title/item on behalf of a patron when all existing copies are unavailable. We'd like to clearly be able to see what a user's home campus is from the 'Create Request' screen after entering the Requesters name. Alternatively, if we were to click on the 'Select from a list' to choose the requester, we are taken to a 'Find and Manager Users' popup. It would be useful to be able to see the patron's campus within a column in this display.

    Currently, we must first go into a patron's record to check what their default campus is, so that the book can be sent to that campus for pickup when it is available.
