  1. Add a Donor field to the physical item record.

    Adding a "Donor" field to the item record would make it easier to track and manage items that are given to the library by a specific donor and reduce multiple Local 591 fields. This information could also then be displayed more prominently in PRIMO. With the donor attached to the actual item, it would help Special Collections departments.

  2. Provide more output fields for the Shelf Report

    When we do the Shelf Report, we wish that Alma can provide more output fields such as last loan Date, last return date,inventory date that will be helpful for us to analyse the result.

  3. Expand Validate Local Call Number Distinction task to include 050

    The Validate Call Number Distinction task should include 050 call numbers and not just local 090 tagged call numbers.

    Vendors are sending records with call numbers tagged 050 _4 (LC-type call number assigned by a library other than LC) which are essentially the same as a locally-assigned LC-type call number (090), only they're not included in the validation task. We are encountering lots of duplicate call numbers in our Alma database.

  4. call number sort in "Generate accession number" drop down menu

    The call numbers are mandatory in all our items and holdings. Somes of call numbers are more used than other.
    For example the call number RIA is used oftentimes while the call number DSA is littled used. Though, currently, RIA are at the end of the menu wheras DSA is at the top.
    Authorizing sorted the call number would dramatically reduced search time in the long drop down menu (Tools > MARC Bibliographic > Generates accession number) and make easier the job of our librarians.

  5. When entering periodicals, I can only choose a precise date under "Issue date". This is not working for all periodicals

    Not all periodicals have precise issue dates. Some are seasonal (like Fall, winter, Spring and Summer), some are by quarters (1st quarter, 2nd quarter...) some have are weekly issues, ... Alma doesn't give the choice for these particular periodicals.

    We need more date options to reflect the issue's period. Even something like Issue date: From X date to Y date, would be more accurate than what the date option actually offered in Alma right now.

  6. It would be helpful to have small checkboxes in the holdings records next to each line item

    It would be helpful to be able to delete or move multiple line items in a holdings record at the same time as we are able to do in the inventory records. A line at a time is very time consuming when we transfer large numbers of items from one library to another.

  7. Physical Item Editor - activate Confirm button upon Save action

    In the Physical Item Editor, upon Clicking the Save button, please automatically activate as default the "Confirm" button in the Confirmation Message pop-up window.
    In the same way that all other Confirmation Message pop-up windows already have the Confirm button activated, so all you have to do is hit the enter key to select it. (Instead of having to make another click on the Confirm button.) This would help improve efficiency.

  8. Alma doesn't label the header as "Holdings ID" or "Holdings MMS ID" in both the Holdings view and the Physical Item Editor view

    We're concerned that Alma doesn't label the header as "Holdings ID" or "Holdings MMS ID" in both the Holdings view and the Physical Item Editor view. Having the field named differently in different views lends itself to some confusion. Currently, the Holdings level ID (PID) appears as MMS ID if you are in Holdings record view. A screen shot is attached.

  9. Ability to select more than one set to run a job

    I can only select one set when I run a job. As processing shelf reports and adding statuses via the shelf report function, I should be able to run the same job on multiple sets at one time. It's frustrating to have to keeping running the same job over and over for each set.

  10. Fix Enum and Chron concatenation function in item editor and description templates

    When editing/adding and item and entering Enumeration and Chronology information for serials, there is a function to "generate" (concatenate) a description of the issue. For some reason, it ignores the "Chronology J" field in this operation, and it should include it.

  11. Ways to track the history of changes in Physical Locations configuration

    We need a way to know if there is any change made in Physical Locations. It could be an email, or adding columns like Last Updated Date.

  12. When Managing In Process Items ability to sort list of items into shelf order

    When managing in process items in a work order department we may want to take a device with this list to a shelf of items in call number order e.g. damaged items shelved in call number order or theses ready to be shipped for digitisation. Call number is available as a field, but it's not possible to sort by it (ideally we'd want to sort by normalised call number.

  14. Rename topmost Cancel button on Resource Request Monitoring screen

    When the Resource Request Monitoring screen has been reached by clicking on a request in a persistent search result, the user is presented with multiple invitations to “Cancel”:


    • One next to the Edit and the “…” buttons for each request,

    • One on a button further up the screen, above the Export List and Manage Column Display icons.

    This can be misleading for staff, especially those less experienced, as it infers that two options called the same thing would perform the same task if either were clicked upon. The Cancel button furthest up the screen, however, does of course serve the…

  15. Display all holdings for physical items in the search results page

    Currently you can only display a maximum of 5 holdings in the search results page. It would be good to be able to see all holdings in the search results page without additional clicks needed.

  17. Add Material Type column to Item List

    It would be great if we could see the item Material Type when we are in the Items List.

    Can we add an item Material Type column? If people don't want to see it they can eliminate from view.

    This is especially helpful when there are multiple item material types with the same call number, location, and no Description. If we had a Material Type column we could tell right away which item was which material type.

  18. Enable the ability to make an item missing that has a process type

    In order to mark an item 'missing' it currently has to have a status of 'item in place'. However, many items that have a status of 'item not in place' need to be marked as missing. If an item gets lost in transit from one library to another or has a process type of technical migration and cannot be found, those items need to be marked as missing.

    The current process requires that these items be checked in so they do not have a process type before they can be made missing. This seems counter intuitive to check in an…

    Add the ability to display the MMSID number in the results list from a physical item search. Having to open the bib or export the results to get the MMSID is inefficient.

  20. Reduce the number of clicks when editing holdings from item screen

    From the edit item screen, if you click into the holdings and edit the holdings and save, you need to click the BACK button several times before you get back to the item screen. This adds so much time to a simple process. Can this be considered in the Alma UX improvement? Thanks
