  1. Circulation count in item record

Include a field in the item record which contains the circulation count or number of times the item has circulated.

We want to be able to access the circulation count via API and Alma item record view.

  2. Suppress Items from discovery for a particular physical location but keep Holding statement

We feel that it would be useful to be able to suppress items from discovery from a particular Physical location but still display the holdings information.
This would be extremely useful for our Journals collections, whereby we receive individual items but only want to display the holdings statement to the end user.

  3. "Create Physical Item Work Order" job - adding notes.

I would like to be able to include a note when bulk creating physical item work orders.

Notes can be added to individual work orders, but the ‘Create physical item work orders’ job doesn’t allow this – only the work order type, managing department, and pick/do not pick from shelf can be specified.

The use case is that we are correcting some of our call numbers, and the physical items will need to be relabeled. I would like those items currently on loan/in transit/in process to have work orders that send them to our repair department for relabeling when returned,…

  4. Check for existing barcode in import profile

I would like to see a setting in the import profile to check the IZ for the pre-existence of the incoming barcode. Publishing and importing can be a fairly blunt tool that leads either to too many or too few objects being imported. When importing large numbers of records, there should be a setting in the match tab that looks for that barcode and rejects the item if that barcode already exists. This would prevent needless duplication especially when publishing on the bib level.

  5. Collaborative Collections - Index 583 more fully

Collaborative collecting agreements are becoming increasingly critical for libraries in managing collections and access across institutions. Formal agreements require libraries to update records with an appropriate Action Note (583 field) to note these commitments. Currently, only $a of the action note is indexed. All fields of the 583 (when present in bibs or holdings) should be indexed, or at a minimum $c, $d, $f and $5.

  6. Enable bulk updating of items from spreadsheet based on barcode

It would be very useful to be able to bulk edit item records from an uploaded spreadsheet of physical items in much the same way that portfolios can be updated via uploading a spreadsheet.

I'm particularly interested in being able to bulk change data in the Enum/Chron fields in serials. I imagine this might have to be coupled with a regenerate job.

  7. Keep suppressed records without items that have received more than one purchase request

We have detected this case that we consider is an incorrect behavior of Alma.

When a purchase request is generated, a non-visible bibliographic record is created. The problem is that if a second purchase request for the same document is generated, Alma automatically makes the bibliographic record visible, even though we still do not have copies of it. Therefore this record appears visible in Polibuscador but without funds.

We request that the bibliographic record should only be visible when the issue or copies are available to the user, meanwhile, even if more than one purchase request has been made, it…

  8. Make the effect of exclude process from publishing on holdings configurable

The current implementation of exclude process types from publishing has the side-effect, that a holdings record gets automatically suppressed as well if it only contains items which get suppressed based on the exclude from process types configuration.
E.g. if you have process type=acquisition, material type=issue, exclude=true all holdings which happen to only have items with material type issue in process type acquisition are suppressed no matter what. This is bad in itself, since it precludes the possibility of offering additional information to our users via the 866 field.
What makes things worse is that the bib record gets suppressed as…

  9. Configuring Physical Item Sort Routine for Alternative Call Number

We have large volumes of items that are at the same location but at a different call number. All of these items migrated on to one holdings which means the Alternative Call Number is key in determining the correct call number. Are there any plans to add Alternative Call Number field to the physical item sort routine?

  10. Update 863/864/865 when items are withdrawn

There is a crucial step missing in the Automatic Generation of the Summary Holdings Statement Based on Items process. The process is documented here:
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/040Metadata_Management/020Navigating_the_MD_Editor_Page?uxp=true#Automatic_Generation_of_the_Summary_Holdings_Statement_Based_on_Items

When items which are linked to the Holdings record are withdrawn, there is no process to update the Holdings record 863/864/865 fields to create an updated 866/867/868 field. When items are withdrawn, the user has to manually edit the Holdings records.

Since the creation of the 863/864/865 field is now automated based on received items being linked to the holdings record, there is a need for the 863/864/865 to be automatically re-created when the linked…

  11. Have the option to turn off sorting for sets.

Our OAC department needs to generate a packing list of items that are scanned in, in the order in which they were scanned. The problem is that after creating a physical items set via scanning, the set sorts itself, and the items are no longer in order.

In addition, our Metadata Services department used to manage our corrections projects in Millennium by having a public set that everyone could access. Once the cataloger was done correcting the record, it was removed from the set.

Our problem is that once we're done correcting the record for a Physical Titles set and…

  12. Need a way to perform "scan in" or other workflow operations in batch, either from an itemized set or from a .txt or .csv file

Use case: We have a large number of items which are being moved from our regular collection to our archives. We have already created a .txt file of barcode numbers and used that file to create a set in Alma, so that we might run Change Holdings and Change Physical Items jobs against the set. It would be much more efficient if we could then run a batch "scan in" or equivalent operations to actually place the items in transit to their new location and then the archives could likewise use that set to get the items out of transit…

  13. Change Physical Item Job should ignore default MARC holdings template when changing location

Also entered as NERS ID 5949 for Next year's enhancement process cycle

When using the Change Physical Items job to change an item's location, we are running into problems because of the way Alma processes this job. Alma creates a new holding with the same data as the original holding and reattaches the items to this new holdings record. If all items are changed to the new location, the original holding is deleted. When creating the new holding, Alma uses the default MARC holding template. Our default is set with 852 indicator 1 set to 1 for Dewey Decimal classification,…

  14. Add fulfilment, Public and Internal Notes to the Excel spreadsheets for physical item sets

When a Physical Item set of records is exported into a spreadsheet via Tools > Excel, the fields Fulfilment Note, Public Note and Internal Notes 1, 2 and 3 are noticeably absent from the columns of data offered in that spreadsheet.

Those fields frequently play a major role in determining the action required by staff for the given item upon its return, as they’re used for requests for reclassification, relegation, etc. It would constitute a sizeable labour-saving fix to be able to generate/save/print off a ready list of all such messages, alphabetically sortable by contents, from the spreadsheet for staff…

  15. Add the ability to manually sort physical item records within a location

The current physical item sorting options mean that in many cases records cannot be sorted into the correct order. Adding to the existing automated sorting options will help in some cases but not in others.

The only way to be certain that item records can be correctly sorted is to add the ability to manually sort physical items within a particular location (i.e. that are linked to a particular holdings record).

Use cases abound. For instance, this is the only way that volumes designated as new ser. v. (or new ser no.) can be sorted to appear after volumes designated…

  16. Add "Edit" button to item records from viewing, like holdings and bib records have.

When viewing bib and holding records, there is a link to edit mode that takes you into the metadata editor. If you are viewing an item record and realize that you would like to change it, you have to cancel, go back to the list of items, and then select edit from the action menu.

It would be handy to have an edit button on item record when viewing it, even though that isn't in the metadata editor.
It would be handy to have this feature in MANY other fields--there are lots of times when I click on something in…

  17. Metadata editor Browse Shelf List forward/back buttons should be bigger or easier to distinguish.

The browse shelf list / call number browse feature is very difficult to use for actual browsing because the forward and next buttons are minuscule. They are not actually buttons, just the less than or greater than sign without borders. I frequently hit the wrong part and end up going back when I wanted to go forward. It's a really small target that calls for high-precision mousing.

    Requested improvements:
    1) Allow keyboard shortcuts for navigating to previous and next sections of the browse list.
    2) Create borders/margins around those buttons.
    3) Add mouse-over text showing previous/next so that if you…

  18. Shelf Report - Figuring out items that are not in call number order

When running a shelf report for a set or call number range we want to know if any items are misshelved in the sense that they are not in the right call number order. As far as we can tell this is not possible but is an essential part of our inventory checking. For example, if we are running a shelf report for all items in our early childhood education collection we want to be able to determine if items within the collection are shelved in the wrong place according to their call number so that we can go to…

  19. Add Storage Location ID as column choice in Item View screen

We would like to view Storage Location ID in the item view screen within Alma: https://www.screencast.com/t/1fJ1IyCq

We can now access in Analytics however staff would like to be able to see this field without having to run a separate analytics report to see the data.

  20. Add Material Type Mapping to Physical Inventory Import Profile

As a Copy-Cataloger I receive batch files of bibliographic records with physical inventory from a variety of vendors and some of these vendors send a variety of formats in the same file. These files contain bibliographic records with a material type of Book, Map, DVD-ROM, Issue, etc. With our current Import Profile that we use, the Library field, Location field, Barcode field, and Item policy field can be mapped with MARC21 local field. But this is not possible for Material type. So when we import this large file with multiple material types they are being imported with the Material type…
