Remove Automatically Created Extra Space Before Subfields in the Metadata Editor
In the Metdadata Editor, an extra space is automatically created before the first full word after a subfield. This space shows up only when you begin to type the word.
Not only is this annoying, but it also affects the functionality of the authority record search, as that extra space has to be edited out for the authority to be found either with the automatic dropdown, or with the F3 command.
I have attached an image that shows this phenomenon. Note the margin difference between all of the other fields and the 090.
Please remove the automatic space.

Metadata Editor: Add More Keyboard Shortcuts and Make Existing Ones Intuitive
The ME needs a keyboard shortcut for every function. 'Search External Resources', 'Release Record', and many other actions do not have keyboard shortcuts, so I still essentially have to use the menu for everything. This is simply inaccessible.
Secondly, the shortcuts that do exist don't make sense. A new field is F8, but deleting a field is CTRL + F6? Why not just make it CTRL + F8? Or F9? These shortcuts are poorly thought out and confusing.

marking & emailing ALMA Records
having the ability to mark and email records in ALMA. this is available in PRIMO but not ALMA.
if one is looking at circulation data, only available in ALMA, then makes a decision, e.g. to have the material withdrawn, one can't email the record to others who would pull the material.
one can use both but this is inefficient. one can use analytics but this inefficient for dealing with just one or a small number of records.
one can also use it for reporting cataloging problems. our experience is that technical services uses ALMA and public services uses PRIMO.

add 'append fields to a record' functionality
In Aleph, we used a lot the job p-manage-18 (load Aleph sequential record format) with the parameter: Update current records in the database - Append fields to a record.
This is no longer possible in Alma, I can only overwrite a record completely, but not add fields to a existing record.
The only way at the moment is to export an existing record (to MarcEdit for example), add the new fields there manually, and import the record again.

In Metadata Editor, open records by MMS id directly
It's common to have a list of MMS ids that need to be worked on in Metadata Editor. The current workflow is to do a repository search, be taken out of MDE, click "Edit Record" and wait to be slowly taken back into MDE.
It would speed things up tremendously if there was a way for users in MDE to input an MMS id and just have the record open up straight away.

151 authority records need to validate 651 subjects
The Alma Link Bib Heading job is returning unlinked headings for 651 geographic subjects having valid LC 151 name (not subject) authority records in the CZ. This causes us to have to sift through/check on many valid headings when working to resolve unlinked headings, particularly as we are preparing to migrate--the first run of Link Bib Heading will have a huge results list that will include all of these "unauthorized" geographic subjects.

Authority control: ability to exclude certain fields and subfields from authority control. Prsence of 700 $i fails the link to auth file.
Presence of 700 $i in the bib record causes the heading not to link to the authority record and it reports as an unlinked heading, when in fact the rest of the 700 field does have an existing authority record.

Add validating MARC field and record character limits
Please add the capability when validating records to check for MARC field and record character limits (9,999 and 99,999 octets respectively, https://www.loc.gov/marc/specifications/specrecstruc.html). We understand that Alma does not impose character limits on MARC fields and records, but we often exchange records with other vendors or companies. We need this feature to ensure that our data transfers properly and does not exceed data limits imposed by the MARC format.

Some of the subfields are missing from the authorities in Alma - in particular subfields for 100 and 700 MARC tags are f, k, l, m, n, o, p, r, s, t

Authority creation - Populate 670 Source Data Found from open bib
When creating an authority by F3 searching from a bib record and clicking "Create authority record", no data is linked from the bib. Voyager populated bib information in new authorities to track and differentiate headings.
Please populate the 670 field (Source Data Found) in the new authority record with Title, date in $a and MMS ID in $w.

Decouple the bib-level material type of Music into Scores and Sound Recordings
The bibliographic material type of Music inexplicably combines scores (Leader/06 c or d) and sound recordings (Leader/06 i or j) into a single facet. This makes no sense and makes standard statistics reporting extremely difficult as scores are usually reported with books (they are, after all, pieces of paper bound between covers) whereas sound recordings are usually reported with other media. Scores should be separated out as its own bib-level material type.

This is defined as: “Music (MU) - used for printed, electronic, manuscript, and microform music, as well as musical sound recordings, and non-musical sound recordings. Material may be monographic or serial in nature”.
As adherence to the MARC standard is important to many of our customers (as also reflected in the comments to this idea), we will keep these distinct seven formats, and not add or subtract from them.
Alma also provides a “Resource Type” category, which is more granular and is based on a combination of fields – this includes the following non-musical types:

Allow the font to be changed/enlarged in the MD Editor
In the MD Editor it is currently impossible to change the font size or type. Could this please be changed? Catalogers expect this functionality, as both Voyager Cataloging and the OCLC Connexion client allow users to change the font size and type. Thank you for considering this request.

We would like more Law Libraries to be added to the External Search Profiles. Law Libraries use a different classification schema for call numbers and it would be great if we could add the correct information into our records when importing them.

In MD editor, the icons for "view bibliographic record" and "view inventory" are identical. Could one of these icons be changed?

Add a flag to indicate that a bibliographic record has been reviewed by a cataloger
Since bibliographic, holdings, and often items records are created at the point of order, it is impossible to easily tell whether or not a record has already been reviewed by a cataloger (for those types of resources that are still manually cataloged from the material in hand). A flag is needed to display (similar to the suppressed icon) on a list of titles in Repository Search so that staff can tell at a glance that a record has already been vetted by other qualified staff.
