Improved functionality for Authority contribution (Copy to community)
This copy option was introduced in the November 2019 release: Authority Contribution – Copy Option:
For institutions that are authorized to contribute authority records to the Community Zone, there is a new Record View page action (Copy to Community) that enables you to easily copy an authority record to the MD Editor, edit and save it, and contribute the saved record to the Community Zone and an external authority system such as GND, BARE, or NLI. The Copy to Community action appears when you select a title to view from your Authorities search results on the Community tab. See Copy…

Don't Close My Bib
Hello,
when I add a Holdings Record to a bibliographic record I click "save and release" when I'm done working with the new holdings record. This then takes me back to a blank search screen, so then I have to search again for the bibliographic record I was working on. It would be helpful if there was a way to go back to bibliographic record I was working on.6 votesHello All,

New Metadata Editor - Search Resources, Merge Preview
In the new metadata editor, when you search external resources and select merge preview you cannot see this record next to the one that is already in the system. This is due to the fact that the "Search Resources" box remains active. In order to compare the records you really need to see them side by side. This was possible with the old metadata editor. Please see attached screenshots.

MARC field 026 should be searchable
To identify ancient editions, it's important to register the "fingerprint", that MARC21 register in tag 026. This tag should be searchable in ALMA and in Primo

Metadata Editor should allow to move up or down a field position in a bib. record, like in a spreadsheet.
When there are multiple fields within the same group number, like 5XX, 6XX, 7XX fields, it would be particularly useful to organize also the fields' position in the bibliographic record manually in each group in an easy way, like drag and drop in a spreadsheet. When improving my record with a template, for example, the added fields come always last of their group. In order to follow the rules of AACR II and RDA, more flexibility in changing the position of the fields in the record (not only copy/paste) will be helpful.

Validation exception based on conditions in linked authority records
There are certain types of authority records, such as facets, that should not be utilized in bibliographic records. MARC 21 Authority offers some options for supporting that, such as 008/15="b" ("Headings are not appropriate for use as a subject access entry in bibliographic records") and 008/09="b" ("100-15X field contains an unestablished heading that is not authorized for use as the element in an access point in a bibliographic record").
However, when authorizing authority fields in the Alma Metadata Editor, there does not seem to be a way to prevent such records to be authorized.
One way to prevent this would…

New Metadata Editor: collapse pop ups on mouse hover in list of records
On mouse hover on a record in the left pane on an entry/record opens pop-ups, which also covers a part of the editor window. In general, it should be possible to activate/deactivate pop-ups according to individual needs.
In repository search (and elsewhere) when you push a record to the new MDE it is possible to collapse these messages by default.
Please offer an option to collapse the pop ups on mouse hover in the list of records of the New Metadata Editor as well.

Add management information when publishing authority records using OAI-PMH
We want to publish our local authority data to a third party system. Adding management information such as Creation date, Modification date, Created by, etc. would be extremely valuable. Yet, management information enrichment is available for other kind of records, but not authorities (cf. in the documentation page https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/090Integrations_with_External_Systems/030Resource_Management/080Publishing_and_Inventory_Enrichment).
Could you please add manangement information when publishing authority records using OAI-PMH?15 votesThis idea has not received sufficient support from the community through votes. New Metadata Editor: highlighting options vs filter/search options
In the left pane of the New Metadata Editor in the list of edited records, filter options and the search option "Search in list" are actually superfluous for everyday cataloguing work in the New Metadata Editor. In my opinion, they only make sense when systematically processing a large number of records (sets). It should be possible to collaps/expand them.
However, it would be helpful if individual entries could be highlighted in the navigation bar, e.g. in colour or with a symbol. This would make it possible to find a particular recording very quickly, e.g. if several recordings with homonymous titles…

Ability to publish data from different tags in the holdings record into a single tag per holdings record
When publishing data for external parties, we would like to be able to combine data from different tags in the holdings record into a single tag in the published record. E.g. we want to export library, location and call number details from tag 852$b$c$h as well as details of volumes held from the 866$a:
852 8_ $b J $c BJ $h PPPP007189-007195
866 41 $a v.31:no.1(1970)-v.34:no.11/12(1973)as 949 $a J $b BJ $c PPPP007189-007195 $d v.31:no.1(1970)-v.34:no.11/12(1973)
What we end up with is (in OAI) 2 separate published tags:
<datafield tag="949" ind1="8" ind2=" ">
<subfield code="a">J</subfield>
<subfield code="b">BJ</subfield>
<subfield code="c">PPPP007189-007195</subfield>

Ability to be able to report on 699 $b and $c subfields for Resource Type and Resource Subject
I would find really useful is to get a list of Electronic Collection Type =databases AND the subfields of 699 field $$a Resource Types AND/OR Resource Subject e.g. $$b. eJournal Services or $$b. Business $$c ALL . This is not supported as the 699 $b and $c subfields are not included as search index in Alma

Use 041 subfields $$p, $$q and $$r in Search Index Mapping
From the April 2019 update of Alma onwards, the Metadata Editor now recognises the following subfields in the 041 (language code) field:
$$p - language code of captions,
$$q - language code of accessible audio,
$$r - language code of accessible visual language (non-textual)These were all added to MARC during 2018.
According to the MARC 21 Bibliographic Tag to Search Index Mapping table (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/040Metadata_Management/180Search_Indexes/050MARC_21_Search_Indexes), the contents of these subfields do not as yet map to an advanced search of the Language (Title) index in Alma.
It occurs to us that the information contained in those subfields, albeit…

Allow the contents of MARC subfield 041 $$h to be considered for Search Index Mapping
The MARC 21 Bibliographic Tag to Search Index Mapping table (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/040Metadata_Management/180Search_Indexes/050MARC_21_Search_Indexes) confirms that the contents of 041 subfields $$a, $$b, $$d, $$e, $$f, $$g, $$j, plus those of the 008 field positions 35-37, map to an advanced search of the Language (Title) index in Alma.
The contents of 041 subfield $$h ("language code of original"), however, do not. This discriminates against those works which are translated from an original language into the one stipulated in 041 $$a subfield.
There are plenty of titles in our stock where information regarding the language of the original material is no less…

Visually accessible display of MMS IDs etc.
The MMS IDs and other IDs (e.g. holdings IDs, PIDs, item IDs, etc.) are very long. It's very difficult to distinguish one MMS ID from another.
In the case of MMS IDs in our IZ and our associated NZ, the last 4 digits are fixed and have specific meaning, e.g.:
MMS IDs ending with -3409 refer to our institution's MMS IDs
MMS IDs ending with -3406 refer to the associated NZ's MMS IDsWe'd like Alma to provide an option to display the 5 digits before the 4 ending digits in a different colour in order to make it easier…

Improve data entry and keyboard navigability
The basic keyboard navigability of the metadata modification interface(s) is disappointing so far.
I'm hoping I've just missed something, but I seem to be required to use the mouse to select controlled vocabulary items, and tabbing or using arrow keys to move through the deposit or asset doesn't seem to work at all. Dates can't be entered by typing, nor can I use the keyboard to navigate the calendar drop-down/pop-ups.
If I'm wrong, please point me to the source I need to improve my speed of navigation.
Using the mouse to point and click is not particularly quick, and oftentimes…

Bibliographic item records to have a pop up note when clicked on
Case - we sometimes loan a set of books to students on a specific module course for short periods and make sure they cant be requested by suppressing them from primo and putting them into a temporary location. It would be helpful if there was a configurable pop-up note on item records. So that when any librarian clicked on the item, they would get a pop-up message and this message was editable. Then user services staff would know that the book needs to be dealt with a specific way. We have tried using the fulfilment note, but this only shows…

Manage Cataloger Roles at the Library Level
We would like the roles Catalog Administrator, Catalog Manager, Cataloger, and Cataloger Extended to be set at the Library level instead of the Institution level. We have special collections that we only want only some of our staff to edit. Assigning catalogers to one or more libraries is much more efficient than assigning cataloging levels to users and records.

Diacritics and special characters
When importing records from vendors diacritics and special characters should also import. Currently they come in as random characters or unicode and it takes up staff time to manually correct them.
