  2. Allow rft.source as input for GES availability rules

Right now, when constructing the service availability rules for a GES, the dropdown menu for the input parameters includes rft.SOURCE and rfe.SOURCE. However, when I attempted to use this, it didn't behave as expected. I did further testing and found this is not currently functional: I set rules to show a link when the rft.SOURCE is empty, and it always showed up. The same happened with rfe.SOURCE.

This would be helpful, as it would allow us to configure links to only show up for PCI records, or only for Alma records. Especially in environments where you'd like to route users…

  3. Create a parser parameter for 'domain' that can be used in Dynamic URLs

We have electronic services that comprise portfolios from multiple publishers, and the portfolio URLs link to the publishers' websites rather than a common platform. Currently, this means that Alma can only link to the journal level, unless we edit each individual portfolio to use a Dynamic URL. However, because the structure of the URLs after the domain is consistent, we would be able to apply a single, article-level Dynamic URL at the Service level if Alma had a parser parameter we could use in place of the domain. Here is the URL format with a couple of examples:

    http://{domain}/content/{rft.volume}/{rft.issue}/{rft.spage}
    http://www.eje-online.org/content/176/3/349

  4. Allow same URL functions/rules possible for Dynamic URL in General Electronic Service URL Template

When constructing Dynamic URLs for electronic portfolios, Alma can parse URL functions such as SUBSTR, REPLACE, and URLENCODE to create working links.

General Electronic Services often require or would be improved by use of these URL functions for the same reasons as the Dynamic URLs, when the OpenURL attributes alone are not enough to create the best possible link.

It would seem that Alma already has the potential to parse these functions since they are used in Dynamic URLs, so allowing them in GES URLs should be possible.

  5. Show item title in browser tab name (title) for uresolver landing page

At present if users follow a link from one of our website or our VLE to an item with more than one content provider or a Public Note it takes them to an Alma landing page for the uresolver, which opens in a new window or tab.
The <title> of the Alma uresolver tab or window shows as 'Home'. If the user has several tabs open the word 'Home' is not likely to help them identify the one that contains the links to the item they were trying to access. It would be much more helpful if the browser tab…

  6. Use user data in general electronic services

Currently in a general electronic service we can pass bibliographic metadata via openurl format through to the target webpage. It would be useful to also pass through user data. The "Adding a General Electronic Service" section in the Online Help mentions a requester (req.) category of attributes but these don't seem to be used at the moment.

Passing through the requester's name, email address, etc would allow us to auto-populate an external form (eg interloans, purchase suggestion forms, etc) and save the user time / potential typing errors.

  7. Failsafe links to databases if/when Direct Linking fails

When we were a Serials Solutions customer and we used Summon discovery, we also used Direct Linking. What was great about Summon was that it would provide a pane at the top of the screen after linking to full-text content that would provide a way to see all the database targets on the 360 Link page. See attached image.

This same feature would be highly desirable in Primo and is one of the main reasons why we do not currently use Direct Linking. Currently, if the full-text fails to load for the default target, there is no way to see…

    Dear community,

We analyzed this suggestion and the possible ways to implement it.

Due to technical limitations and risks we decided that this will not be implemented for now.

    Thanks,

  8. Improve handling of OpenURL with both isbn and eisbn

If the Link Resolver doesn’t find any services for first identifier from OpenURL, then it should search again with the second identifier instead of stopping and showing "No services available"
