Improved claiming functionality for resource sharing
There is a need for improving claiming functionality in resource sharing. When items are borrowed by library A from library B, it should be possible for library B to automatically claim library A when lending requests are overdue.
More details in attached file.
Completed as part of Alma December release:
It is now possible for a resource sharing lending library that is using NCIP-P2P to send an automatic claim to the borrowing library when the request is overdue. The claim is sent as an email.

In case of ISO partners there is a dedicated ISO Overdue message that automatically updates the borrower side. So this is not an email, the update on the borrower side is automatic. The completed idea is about adding an email address for NCIP-P2P. In that case it will indeed be an email, using the new field that allows configuring an email for NCIP P2P.

Dear Moshe, Sorry to bump an old, implemented idea, but I think this needs some clarification.
You say that "Send Overdue Message to Resource Sharing Borrowing Partner" should indeed be working for ISO partners. Should an email be generated or should it only update the status of the RS request? There is no "email address" parameter on ISO partners.

Hi,
Yes, it is indeed working with ISO and email partners.
Is Overdue a supported NNCIP message ? Has been implemented by other systems ?
Would sending an email to NCIP P2P partners be a solution ? That would obviously require manual handling at the borrower side.
Thanks,

Hi Moshe,
Yes, we are aware of the configuration of Resending Overdue Days Interval, but as we understand it, the overdue message that is sent is only a update of the request status (for ISO-partners)? There is no e-mail notification sent, unless the partner is an email partner?

Hi,
Do note that it is possible to configure a partner record with a 'Resending Overdue Days Interval', which will cause the overdue message to be resent every configurable number of days.

This functionality must also include lending requests created by NCIP / NCIP-P2P. This may imply that the job "Send Overdue Message to Resource Sharing Borrowing Partner" also should handle NCIP requests.
