  1. Display PO-Line owner in "Manage EDI Tasks"

I would like to suggest to add a column in the Manage EDI Tasks List for PO-Line owner. That would give the option to sort the List by PO-Line owning Library.

A new "Owner" column is added to the EDI task list. This column, which is sortable, displays the owning library for each PO line. The added column enables institutions working with the EDI task list to review the PO lines by their owning library.

  2. Hold Shelf policy for RS items

When using Lender Due date for RS items (Fulfillment > General > Other Settings > ignorelenderdue_date = false) the date for Pick up from shelf is the same as the Due date. This is, according to ExLibris, working as intended, but we have a few issues with the workflow.

This makes the workflow more manual and difficult than needed, given that we have to manually check RS items that is not getting picked up by patron within a couple of weeks. Having the RS items on Hold shelf for up to 4-6 weeks is poor use of time…

Alma now enables users to configure if the Maximum time on hold shelf (Days) for an item to remain on a hold shelf before being returned to the lending library should be based on the request Due Date or the Circulation Desk Hold Shelf Expiration Time.

  3. create out-of-box institutional standards reports (i.e., ACRL, IPEDS,ARL)

Since many institutions have to complete these standardized reports annually, it would be helpful if a template existed for each one so we wouldn't have to re-create them each year. As the reports are revised by the sponsoring organization/agency then Ex Libris can update the out-of-the-box report as part of the monthly features.

  4. Add 'due date' to items list

When student put a book on hold it would be useful to see when the on loan books are due to be returned in the item list rather than having to go into each individual onloan item to see when it is to be returned. Often we have 20 items out at a time and it would be good to have a quick overview of the return date.

  5. Placing digitization requests via Primo on holdings without items

Currently, titles with no inventory for their holdings do not appear to provide a title-level Digitization Request option in Primo.

This is a potentially huge defect in the Request functionality as many requests might well specifically be for material in that situation, e.g. older physical journal holdings where there is no item information into Alma but where there is potentially a functional need for the Digitization service. We think that if there is an Physical holding published to Primo, there should always be at least the possibility for the library to offer and configure Patron Digitization requests. This defect has…

Completed as part of Alma December release:
Patrons can now place a general digitization request in Primo or Alma for a holdings with no items in the same way that they can place a general hold request. The new option is also available when using the Manage Fulfillment Options for the purpose of fulfilling a resource sharing document delivery request.

  6. Produce a Publishing Profile for BrowZine

The idea is to create a specific publishing profile for sending data to BrowZine on a scheduled basis. The presently used data format (Google Scholar XML with Sources) could be better served as a CSV file for numerous reasons. Additionally, the Publishing Profile should be able to accommodate the scenario of a library's holdings being made up of a combination of NZ and IZ holdings.
Please contact john@thirdiron.com for full technical guidelines for the best and most reliable data exporting configuration. Thank you!

    Note:
Over time we have come to understand a number of limitations in the approach suggested here…

  7. Configuring different sender e-mail addresses (SMPT-envelope-from) for one letter-type

For now the SMTP-envelope-from definition for Alma Letters can be set only once per letter-type. This isn’t suitable. E.g., our libraries need more than one sender email address for different acquisition departments. Vendors should be able to reply directly to the departments E-Mail-address. Using one no-reply-address (as SMTP-envelope-from value) in combination with a “reply-to”-addresses written in the Mail Footer cannot be a permanent solution.

    Actual situation in Alma:
When an E-Mail is send in the context of a job Alma takes the SMTP-envelope-from value from the „addressFrom”-definition in the concerning letter-configuration (general configuration -> letter emails).
    When an E-Mail is…

  8. Ability to search via free text MARC tag and subfields

We would like to have an advanced search option that allows us to enter the MARC tag number (and subfields) for searching, in both bibliographic and holdings records. This would also require the option for keyword indexing of all MARC fields.

It is now possible to create indication rules using a structured form, thus making the process easy and intuitive. The new format enables entering the different fields and subfields and values in a wizard-like fashion, and provides popup assistance when entering tags and tag names.

  9. offer true author/creator browse

Currently Alma offers browsing bib headings with using "names" type - which includes also headings from 600/610/611.
We find it more useful to have a way to browse by author/creator headings without the subject name fields (relevant 1xx and 7xx without 6xx).

Alma enables you to browse bibliographic headings to support various cataloging workflows. You can browse by author name, subject, series, and title.
As of November release for cases when a person appears both as a creator and as a subject (i.e., ‘Agatha Christie’ might be both the subject and an author), you can select between the following methods of mapping the MARC 21 fields 600, 610, 611:
Names – (existing options) When browsing bibliographic headings using this option, the 6XX fields appear under Names.
Subjects – (existing options) When browsing bibliographic headings using this option, the 6XX fields are not found.
Names (without MARC21 600/610/611) – (new option) When browsing using this option, the 6XX fields are not found.
Subjects (with MARC21 600/610/611) – (new option). When browsing using this option, the 6XX fields appear under Subjects.

  10. "Save and dismiss" button in "Manage EDI Tasks"

In the "Manage EDI Tasks", when using the "Update Expected Receipt Date" action, updating the date and clicking on "Save", it would be great the concerned line would automatically be removed from the list without having additionally to click on "Dismiss". A new function button like "Save and dismiss" would be helpful.

  11. More flexibility needed for display of locations

Our users complain that it is difficult to find the locations of items and that too many clicks are needed to find out if an item is available.
This is the most problematic in the Locations display for journals (and monographs with the item description field filled in).

    More specificly, issues are:
    - The shelf number is not indicated clearly enough
    - Users search for items in the library that are not on shelf because they don’t click through to the single holdings display to check the availability (in the "journal display") or because the availability indication like e.g. (1…

  12. Add parameters to control anonymization of requests, resource sharing and fines

We'd want to be able to control the anonymisation of requests, resource sharing requests and fines and fees in a similar way to loans. In particular we'd like to be able to set a parameter for days since user expiry and since the request or fine was complete.

This would allow us to create a clear policy for anonymising and purging data in Alma so that all data was treated in the same way i.e. could say that all data was anonymised or purged X number of years after user left. It would also allow us to be confident that…

  13. portfolio deactivation date

Currently, when you create a local electronic collection, you have the ability to set "active from" and "active until" dates at the collection level. We have electronic collections where we purchase 1 year of access for select titles (collections such as Kanopy). It would be great if we could set deactivation dates at the portfolio level. With a deactivation date, once the year of access is complete, we wouldn't have to remember to deactivate the individual portfolios.

  14. Add “next year” as an option in serials subscription date range drop down menu for invoice lines.

Many of the invoices we process are for serials subscriptions for the following calendar year. Having “next year” as an option, for invoice line subscription ranges would be quite helpful.

  15. Prevent change of fields due to synchronization when running a Update/Notify Users job on a set

When updating one user manually, we get a notice where we can confirm that some fields (amongst others: campus, rs libraries and user group) are not to be overwritten by the next user synchronization.

When updating users in a set running the Update/Notify Users job in Alma, the same choice of prevention is not presented. Hence leaving some fields to be changed back in the next synchronization.

We experienced this running a job changing campus, RS library and user group on a set of users. The first two fields did not change back in the synchronization. The latter did.

    Would…

  16. Place in queue for hold requests is confusing for users

Can the queue numbering begin with 1 rather than zero? The zero is confusing to users when an item request is made. Users interpret this as not available. It's hard to explain the queue is for those waiting not those who placed the first request.

The OTB value of the labels was changed from “Place in queue: {0}” to “{0} user(s) before you get served”. The change is not affecting existing customers, only new ones. In case existing customers would like to user the new label, there is a “Restore” row action on the label, this will bring the new label to your Alma.

  17. New Metadata editor- add holding from the Add inventory menu

    Hello to eveybody,
yesterday watching the webinar "The Alma New Metadata Editor - Webinar Sept. 08, 2020" we found out the in the add inventory there isn't the possibility to add an holding.
This is not useful for libraries that don't do the order in Alma, but simply add an holding after cataloguing a book.
The possibility of adding an holding from the menu View inventory should be present.
The Add inventory should have the default holding template included in the menu.
If the operator wants a specific template it is clear that the operator must choose the right holding…

  19. Add IdRef for Linked data Enrichment

Bibliographic information is currently enriched with URIs from several sources, mainly English language files (LCSH, LCNAMES, MeSH...See : https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/alma/integrations/linked_data/ ).
Libraries who work with other authorities can't get benefit from these linked data enrichments. In order to improve cataloging support and to avoid local developments for discovery usage, it would be great to add the French authority file IdRef (https://www.idref.fr/) URIs to the list of enrichment possibilities. IdRef is the authority file used by academic and research institutions in France, Switzerland, and Belgium, and is integrated in Alma CZ in both Marc21 (originating system IdRef) and Unimarc (originating…

  20. New Analytics field for OCLC number in Bibliographic Details

Currently in Analytics the Bibliographic Details category contains Network Number. Network number indexes OCLC numbers as well as other identifiers from the Marc record. (Included Marc fields: 019 a,z 035 a,z 774 w 773 w 775 w 777 w 786 w 800 w 810 w
    811 w 830 w)

Our institution needs to search specifically only OCLC numbers and would ask if Exlibris could create a new Analytics field for OCLC number. This field should only search the 035 $a and $z and only include 035 subfields with OCLC prefixes ((OCoLC), ocn, ocm,...)

As of January release the following fields containing the OCLC control number will be available in the Bibliographic Details folder for all subject areas in which it appears. The data for these fields comes from MARC fields 019 and 035.
    OCLC Control Number (019)
    OCLC Control Number (035a)
    OCLC Control Number (035a+z)
    OCLC Control Number (035z)
