  1. Remove temporary location, not just change indication

    Currently we can run a "change physical items" job to remove the "temporary item indication". This toggles the temporary location from yes to no. It does not remove the temporary location from the item record.

    We would like the option to also remove the location from the item record, in addition to the option of toggling the indication.

  2. Add Access Model to PO Line reporting

    PO Lines for Electronic Books contain a field, Access Model, which allows libraries to register the access arrangements we have, e.g. 1-users, 3-users, unlimited, etc.

    This has the potential to be a very useful field, but it is not currently available when running reports for PO Line information in Alma Analytics.

    Can it be added please?

    The Access Model field was added to the PO Line dimension in the Funds Expenditure, Physical Items, and Purchase Requests subject areas. It displays the public access model for the electronic resource.

  3. Add the option to display call number in all work benches in circulation and in all relevant user notifications.

    Many libraries are using call numbers as a primary identifier in fulfillment workflows and in communication with the users.

  4. Push Requests to ILLiad should include comments in the resource sharing request.

    Referring to the new feature in Alma Nov (2019) release, the new feature for pushing resource sharing request to ILLiad via API lacks some important features to make it useful.
    Most importantly, comments in the Resource Sharing request did not pass over to ILLiad. This feature exists when using email to push request to ILLiad. It's missing when using API.

    I would hope you could improve using API to push requests to ILLiad and make it feature parity using email method.

  5. Make it possible to add new individual titles/portfolios to a contributed collection (for which one has the ownership)

    Current functionality for contributing an electronic collection to the CZ is a one-time action. Missing here is the functionality that the owner of this contributed collections can update it, i.e. adding new individual titles/portfolios.

  6. Check for attachments in the Digitization Process

    When managing Digitization Requests, there is no control in the last step (when files or URLs are attached) that a file or URL has effectively been attached or correctly uploaded. If operator clicks on 'Done', the request is completed without any alert!
    If no file or URL has been attached when the operators clicks on Done, the requester receives a letter with no attachment or URL for download. Waste of time and bad service provided...

  7. Add RFID multi scan function in Alma

    Currently, Alma doesn't allow multi scan use with RFID readers.

    This means librarians at circulation desk have to scan one by one items with RFID reader instead of dropping them off directely on the RFID reader. Thereby, RFID tech loses a huge part of his interest in library.

    This is all the more strange that RFID self check machines offer this possibility with Alma.

    To conclude, RFID libraries should be allowed to use multi scan functionality with Alma. Please implement such a function.

  8. Returning items from the patron services - return tab of the wrong patron

    If a book loaned from a patron it has returned through Patron services - Return Tab of a wrong patron, Alma does not block the action. The system send return email receipt to the wrong patron who did not loan the book.
    The system should stop the action as the operator, for mistake, has returned the book from the patron services of a patron who did not loan the item.

  9. Sort record type and date columns in Library calendar opening hours

    Every year we need to reset our calendar events, exceptions and sometimes we even tweak our standard opening hours.

    This job would be much easier if we could sort the entries in our opening hours screen (Fulfillment > Library management > Opening hours) by record type, valid from (date) and valid to (date).

  10. Index the Marc 546 field in Alma Repository Search

    Libraries have expressed the need to search the Marc 546 language note field in Alma repository search. https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/5xx/546.html

    Use cases:
    to search for specific languages that do not have a Marc language code in the 041 field.
    Or to search for closed-captioning or subtitle info in the 546 field. (Example: "English, Spanish, French or Mandarin dialogue with optional English for the hearing impaired; closed-captioned."

  11. Allow overlap analysis tool to include print as well as e

    We would find it useful if the overlap analysis tool could also compare against print holdings, as well as electronic. Currently it only allows you to compare overlap within electronic titles, however the functionality of the tool is useful in that you can upload a file containing a list of identifiers, set up the overlap and leave it to run.

    The only way to conduct print and e overlap analysis in Alma at the moment is to use the Title level overlap analysis dashboard in Analytics, which includes various overlap reports and includes both print and electronic. However, we have…

    We would like a to be able to: 1. Create a report of outstanding borrowing requests, 2. Automatically send the claim letters by email to the partners, 3. Update the status of the requests to Claimed.

    As of March release for peer-to-peer resource sharing partners, you can trigger an automatic claim letter when a configured period of time is reached. For example, when the Automatic Claim check box is selected and the Time to Claim (days) field is set to 7, if a request was sent 7 days ago and the request’s status is still Sent, a claim letter is automatically triggered and the request status is set to Claimed.
    You can also configure an option to send a cancel message and continue through the rota.

    In case of an Email/SLNP partner, the letter is sent by email.

    For ISO requests, the notice is sent in a General Message. The text in the message can be configured

  13. faster receipt printing

    Don't use email for all print events. It's too slow for receipts and transit slips at staffed service desks. (Complex anti-spam engines and office365 hosted email typically adds up to a minute to email transit time.)

    Instead, write some local software to act as a print client that talks back to the cloud. That way, you can bridge local networked printers across large sites, back to the cloud in a more timely fashion.

  14. Increase size of MD Editor main panel

    The Metadata editing window (main panel) is really small compared to the rest of the screen. Dragging and dropping the panes does not have much effect. There is also the Full Screen functionality which only widens the editing screen. The problem is that it should extend the view of the fields in the length. We would like to see more fields of the record at one time. The panels at the top and bottom of the screen are very wide, so there is plenty of space to make more room for the actual editing.

  15. On the Monitor Request page order the owning library and pick up location facets by A-Z

    We would like the libraries listed in the Owner and Pick up Location facets in the Resource Request Monitoring page to be ordered by A-Z as we have a long list of libraries and this would make it easier to scan the list and find them. The Owner and Pick up Location are ordered by A-Z in the Borrowing Requests page already and this is much easier for us.

  17. Add fund description to analytics Fund Expenditure Subject Area

    We want to add Fund Description to our Budget Status report but in testing have noticed that the Alma Fund Type is stored in the Fund Description field (this is in the Fund Ledger Dimension) instead of the Fund Description setup in Alma. The Fund Type field in Analytics is being used to store if the fund is an Allocated, Ledger or Summary fund. We don't want to lose this Fund information (we need to know if a fund is allocated, ledger or summary) but since the Alma Fund Type is stored in the Analytics Fund Description field there seems…

  18. Controlling movies playback speed in Alma viewer

    Currently there is no option to speed up the movies in Alma Viewer by a certain times (X2, X3 etc) so that it will be shown in fast motion.
    This option is very important if we want students to actually use such digital objects that we upload.

  19. Make Notes tab and process type option in item available upon creation

    Currently when creating a new item, only the general information tab is available until the item has been saved. We often add notes at the point of cataloging, so it would be very useful to have this tab available at creation rather than having to save it and reopen the item to add notes. Similarly, the Process Type dropdown is not available until the item has been saved. This would also be helpful to have available without having to save and re-open the item.   20. Add replacement cost to physical inventory in repository import profiles

    Currently the repository import profile capabilities for adding physical inventory does not include replacement cost as an option. We are cataloging a large number of expensive equipment using an import profile. The change physical items job only works so long as the cost is the same. Cost varies across these items, meaning multiple sets of items would need to be created for the change physical items job or items would need to be updated individually. The ability to include replacement cost in the import profile would be hugely helpful and simplify this process.
