  1. Implement AutoHoldings

Implement auto holdings (autoholding, auto load, autoload) for Alexander Street Press Academic Video Online, as is already available for ProQuest, Elsevier, Ovid, and Springer, and Wiley.

  2. Allow coverage comparison from uploaded files in Collection overlap analysis

When we upload a collection title list with coverage for collection overlap analysis, Alma doesn’t compare coverage. For comparing journals, this is fatal. A title match with no coverage overlap means nothing. We understand that the coverage column in the vendor’s file can be messy and non-standard. We would rather standardize and format the coverage in the EXCEL file and let Alma do the coverage comparison, than to eyeball the coverage of 15,000 titles or more.

Tell us the correct format to indicate coverage, and let us extract the values for the beginning year, ending year and embargo columns, so…

  3. Allow comparison with specific collection(s) with uploaded files in Collection overlap analysis –

When we upload a collection title list with coverage for collection overlap analysis, Alma doesn’t allow us to select a specific collection to compare with. It only allows us to compare with the entire IZ, which is not always the goal. If we can select specific collections to compare with when we use Alma collections, it should not be too difficult to do the same comparison when using an uploaded title file.

  4. Exclude results in "Facets"

When viewing search results in Alma, it would be nice to easily exclude items based on their pre-determined facets. For example, showing all results except for those on loan. This can be accomplished via an advanced search as well, but it would be more convenient to have it available via the facets menu, similar to how it is in Primo.

  5. German Translation and Knowledge Base-Usability Enhancement

There are many misunderstandable field translations in Alma.
If these cannot be repaired ad hoc in the program itself, one could at least touch this up in the KB, so that the explanations help further.

Analytics is mostly untranslated, except for some buttons.

It would also be more user-friendly if the KB could be switched between English and German content at the current location via dropdown, without having to walk the path to the decisive location again.

  6. An import profile should be able to delete IZ copy of NZ-linked electronic records

For libraries that belong to a consortium, currently, the import profile to delete both electronic bibliographic and inventory records only marks the NZ-linked records for deletion. It does not delete the IZ copy of the NZ-linked records, even when the Allow bibliographic record deletion and the delete/deactivate portfolio options are selected.

To improve Alma for libraries with NZ-linked records, Alma's import deletion process should unlink the record from the NZ and then delete the resulting IZ copy. That would be consistent with the current behavior of existing deletion jobs like the "Delete Bibliographic Records" job.

  7. Prevent GOBI API from matching activated CZ records in IZ

Problem - The matching method used in the API will ink to the CZ bib records if it is in the IZ. The match methods are not flexible in the API integration profile when compared to something like import profiles that allow ignoring the record from the Community Zone and creating a local record.

We would like the API to always create a local bib even if a matching CZ record exists in the IZ. Or, at least make this an optional setting.

  8. Provide option to exclude open access titles when activating community zone collections

We have a number of auto-activate Community Zone collections for licensed content which also contain open access titles. We would like an option to exclude the open access titles. This would enable more accurate cost per use analysis and reduce duplication in our catalogue.

eg. we've noticed duplication in Springer collections because we have licensed subject collections activated but also the Springer Open Access Ebook CZ collection (having this collection active means all open access titles are available for our community, not just those for the subjects we have purchased in any given year)

  10. Link to interested user's record from PO Line

As a Purchasing Operator, I want to access a user's record from the PO Line 'Interested Users' tab, so that I can see user details quickly without interrupting my navigation.

Currently, you have to copy and paste information from the table into an Alma search and manually find the user. This interrupts Alma's navigation flow as it starts a new search, and there is no easy way to go back to the PO line or your previous search without repeating yourself each time.

If the user's name in the PO LIne 'Interested Users' tab was a hyperlink to the user's…

  11. Set "available from date" and "available until date" in import profiles

It is currently possible to set "available from date" and "available until date" in electronic portfolios either manually or with a job. But it would be useful to set these dates in import profiles too.

One use case is a collection of Swank streaming video titles. The library wants to load MARC records because the CZ records are too brief. Here are the steps the library must take:
    1. Run the import profile to load the records and create electronic portfolios.
    2. Create a set of the newly created electronic portfolios.
    3. Run the "Change Electronic portfolio information" job on…

  12. Automatic Upload of Electronic Holdings Integration Profile ELS ClinicalKey

I would like to suggest an API integration profile for Elsevier to include ClinicalKey collections. This feature is currently available for ScienceDirect and ScienceDirect eBooks, but not for ClinicalKey.

We currently spend a significant amount of time in deleting and adding portfolios to these collections each month.

  14. Improve Primo view override function in Alma

The override function in the Configure Views section in Alma does not what one would expect, at least not for me.

It would be a lot better that you can override your default view with the settings of a newer view, but without irreversibly altering either and allowing to switch back, or use another view altogether.

And it should not only use the new settings, but also use it's customization package.

This way it's easy to update your default view with new settings and style while continuing to use the same view code.

  15. Maintain membership to physical collections when merging bibliographic records

Currently in the MD Editor, when merging bibliographic records, if the non-surviving bib record was included in a collection the membership to the collection is lost. The problem is made worse by the fact that operator will probably be made aware of the matching duplicate record at the point of saving the bib; at this stage only the duplicate bib record is displayed, there is no indication that it has been included as part of a collection.

The bibliographic merging process in the MD Editor should be improved to take account of records included in physical collections, transferring membership of…

  16. User Requests Should Pop or Be more Visible for Cataloguers

When cataloguers are processing new books or fixing bibliographic records or item records, there is no notification that a user has requested the item we are working on. We won't know to give the item to Fullfillment so that they can put the item aside for the user.

I know there is a little number that indicates there is a request, but for new books ordered in there is already 1 request from Acquisitions. This does not pop-up and it is just a little number that you can barely see in the results screen. It should be much more obvious…

  17. role scopes in api

We are trying to build a simple application where our staff can request Alma roles be added to an account.

We can retrieve a list of all roles from the Alma API for users to choose from; however, this list does not clarify what scopes are available for which roles.

Can this info be provided via the API?

  18. Hyperlink the ordered resource item within a POL

Currently, the functionality exists where a link exists on records in Alma that will take users out to the associated POL where it exists. It would be useful to have the reverse functionality as well, where the ordered resource item within a POL links out to the associated record in Alma, to facilitate more easy access to purchased inventory.

  19. Use article galaxy add-on to support resource sharing requests in Alma

At a recent Ex Libris event I was made aware of the Article Galaxy add-on https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/appcenter/article-galaxy-add-on/

The information provide on the page suggests that this is only used with Rapido however we would be interested in using this feature as part of the regular Alma resource sharing process.

Currently we make most of our document delivery requests through Reprints desk but the user process means that library staff are alerted to a resource sharing request coming in from the user via Primo, they then manage this in Alma but have to then go to reprints desk separately to make the…
