  1. Closed Library Management TOU apply to Resource Sharing Request

Currently, the RS Lending Request item due date does not take into consideration of the library closed days as there is no "Closed Library Due Date Management" option in the Lending Resource Sharing Rule TOU. As a result, the due date may fall on a library closed date where clients are unable to return the item. I have received confirmation from ExLibris (SF354784) that this will need to be an enhancement request rather than a bug fix.

  2. Hold Shelf policy for RS items

When using Lender Due date for RS items (Fulfillment > General > Other Settings > ignore_lender_due_date = false) the date for Pick up from shelf is the same as the Due date. This is, according to ExLibris, working as intended, but we have a few issues with the workflow.

This makes the workflow more manual and difficult than needed, given that we have to manually check RS items that is not getting picked up by patron within a couple of weeks. Having the RS items on Hold shelf for up to 4-6 weeks is poor use of time - for…

  3. Improve usability of 'Automatically Print Slip' in Resource Sharing

When receiving Resource Sharing Borrowing items, the 'Automatically Print Slip' option is only remembered for the current session, which leaves this vital function open to error.

This could be improved in one of the following ways (in order of preference):

Option 1: Provide a configuration option in one of the code tables to set the default (this would also be desireable for all similar functions elsewhere, such as in RS Lending).

Option 2: Make the last selected option persist across sessions so our staff can set it once and not have to remember to set it every time.

    Option 3:…

  4. Blocking borrowing requests on books published within the last year

With an active automatic rota for books, borrowing requests sent from Primo to Alma are automatically sent to partner. This applies for books published within the last year as well. Before we activated the autoROTA, we would usually change most of these borrowing requests into purchase requests and place the patron on a waiting list.
New books requested by a patron are often items we want to purchase ourselves, and not spend money on borrowing from our partners in addition. With the autoRota there is no way for us to block these borrowing requests from being sent.

    We would like…

  5. Allow "ignore_lender_due_date" setting to be customized per resource sharing partner

Currently the "ignore_lender_due_date" setting in the Alma Customer Parameters Mapping Table is a global setting; it applies to all resource sharing partners. This is problematic for consortia who have resource sharing partners for consortia members, as well as a resource sharing partner for ILLiad.
Setting "ignore_lender_due_date" to "true" works for our consortia resource sharing standard checkout, but ILLiad due dates must be entered manually.
Setting "ignore_lender_due_date" to "false" works for the ILLiad lender due date, but then consortia due dates must be entered manually.
If "ignore_lender_due_date" could be configured separately, for different types of resource sharing partners, this would allow…

  6. Include Fulfillment Notes when Shipping items in Resource Sharing

It would be nice if pop-up fulfillment notes on an item record were attached to a resource sharing request when an item is shipped, much like the barcode currently does. So if a damaged book has a note saying "Underlining noted," that note would attach to the request record so that the borrowing institution could see it. This would make it easier for the people processing on either end to know whether an item shipped with damage, or a set shipped with a certain amount of items, etc.

  7. Add scheduled job which Recalculates Rota Assignment on Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests in Locate Failed Status

We are trying to configure a more automated workflow for Resource Sharing in our consortium. We recently reconfigured our Resource Sharing settings. Our Partners' Locate Profiles were all changed from not checking availability (so we had time to manually manage queues) to "Check for availability" so that items will pass instantly through the Rota if an item is not available at a partner. Then each of the Resource Sharing Libraries modified their Library Details from cancelling requests on locate failure to not cancelling requests on locate failure, which keeps the request Active after it passes through the Rota unfilled, and…

  8. Producing the shipping forms by supplier

Each time a request has been marked "Ship" or "Return", the request details will be collected on a "Shipping Form" (by supplier).

When ready to ship a package -with returned/requested books- to another library, "print form" will:
    1. Produce a full detailed form to include with the box
    2. Will start a new form for future package.

  9. Show completed requests in RS without having to enter search term

At the moment, completed requests are hidden from records and have to be searched by entering matching search terms. Our ILL staffs are finding facets appearing left to active requests records very helpful, as they reportedly spare staff members' effort and time to enter search terms and go through all the unwanted information. This applies to completed requests as well, as the staffs have to revisit them every now and then. It would be greatly appreciated if completed request records could be seen, limited, searched and browsed just like active requests, without having to enter search terms.

  10. Check out an item to a visiting patron's account at their home institution. Direct Pick-up Resource Sharing

Instead of creating and managing a visiting patron's record, allow libraries to check items out onto their home institutions record. The patron could validate by choosing the institution and having the patron sign in to their account.

As a patron I could go to any library in my network and easily check out an item there by signing into my home library and checking out the items. Everything checked out would show up on my home library's record and I could return the item either at the lending library or my home library.

  11. RS Borrowing Requests – changing format before sending request

We would like the ability to change the format of a request before sending it to a Partner – e.g. from book/book chapter to journal/journal article or vice versa.

As our patrons don’t always know, or pay attention, to the actual source format, they often submit their requests with the wrong format, which our staff would like to fix before sending to Partners.

  12. [Alma] - ILL Resource Sharing - allow pickup location other than RS Library for Physical non-returnable requests

Right now Borrowing Request type "Physical non-returnable", which is the one used for document delivery (tipycally a printed copy of an article), allows to choose only the Resource Sharing Library as Pickup Location.

This is a problem, since a user is instead willing to choose the library where the printed copy should be delivered. This is particularly useful when libraries are geographically sparse.

Using a temporary item does not help, since in this case we don't have an item that must be returned (and shipped back to the lender, as it is in the ILL of a book). The user…

  13. Obligate the user to choose a pick up location in the resource sharing form

On Renouvaud the users could fill in a form to request an article or a book for the Inter Library Loan.

But, they don't read all the form and much of them don't choose a pick up location.

The problem is that if they don't choose one, a "default pick up location" is selected.

We would like that the drop down menu begin not with a pick up location but a little sentence which ask the user to choose a location (see attachments).

    Thanks !

  14. Ability to view ISO messages in Lending requests

We would like the ability to view the original XML/ISO messages sent between lender and requester in our Lending requests. There is information we need that doesn’t display in requests when they come into our system.

    Examples include:

*Copyright declaration: we need this for copyright compliance reporting purposes

*Maximum cost: if this doesn’t display, we have to confirm that the requesting library accepts our charges if the cost is going to be over the standard charge

*Expiry date: the request status changes to Expired if this date is passed, and the request moves on in the rota

    *Need by date:…

  15. Resource sharing search

Our Resource sharing staff at Sheffield Hallam University would like there to be an All category in the Find box, as there is under Find and Manage users. This would enable them to work more efficiently and would allow them to interrogate more than one index at once.

See attached image for a comparison between the two find boxes.

  16. Modifying a partner after recieving a borrowing request should be possible

In the SNLP workflow the partner changes from the own partner code to the partner who ships the request automatically. Therefore most of the requests have the correct partner when the item arrives at the library.
So most of the time there is no need to modify a partner and the staff's attention to this attribute is not as high as it is to other attributes of the request. If we observe this AFTER receiving the item, there is no possibility to do so.
Because we don't know to which partner we have to send back the item after it…

  17. Customize display of fields in Alma Article request form

We would like to display the fields in the Alma article request form in the following order: Journal name, year, volume, issue, pages, article title, article author, and issn - and not in the order these fields are currently hard-coded (e.g. author initials splits volume and issue, and publication date is at the end of the form)

  18. Add the creation's hour on borrowing requests

My idea contents 2 concepts :
    1) We would like to see the hour when the borrowing request was created.
When we have a lot of requests, we would like to be able to make a choice and treat the older before the newest.

    2) We would like to sort the borrowing requests by differents ways. Presently the borrowing requests are ranked by alphabetical order of the title.
But when you have a lot of requests, like us, sometimes a new request arrives before that you treated the ancient.
So maybe could it be useful if we could rank the…

  19. Display of the RS Request Number in the patron's requests tab in Alma and Primo is missing

We have problems with our communication to our patrons when resource sharing borrowing requests are affected.
In the requests tab in the patron's account in Alma there is no possibility to display directly the request number (External ID) which is outstanding in the SNLP workflow. The staff at the circulation desk has to click 3 times (place in queue, barcode, resource sharing request) to see the related number to identify the correct borrowing request. After that you have to copy the number to put it in the search box of the borrowing requests after you have chosen the desired search…

  20. Search entry for Resource Sharing Requests must be adjustable

When working on resource sharing requests lists (lending and borrowing) the first thing to do is selecting another search entry/term, mainly an aspect at the end of the list, to find a special request, because the author ist never the aspect we search for. The list in the pull down menue is hard coded and there is no option to re-order the list as we need it.
At least we like to achieve that the list starts with the last three search aspects the staff user has used. Alma has to remember them for the logged in staff user similar…
